We were travelling through the great mongolian plains heading south towards the desert but not missing out on some great natural beauties and incredible interactions with the local population!

Im from mongolia.I LOVE MY COUNTRY beatiful places beatiful mountains nice pure water nice animals i think mongolia is most richest country in the world.No money.Just a meets and some rare things it has!
Further about 600 kms south of ulaanbaatar they are now in southgobi province. The colourful sand mountains are flaming red cliffs where Roy Chapman Andrews found first ever dinosaur eggs and skeletons in 1920s.

Continental Rocks or Ikh Gazriin Chuluu is a beattiful mountain of granite rock formations in the Middle Gobi desert. Around 300 kms south from Ulanbaatar. Apart from unique fauna and flora you can also visit there an open theatre of national long song of Mongolia.

Pro tip, NEVER follow another vehicle so closely in the "remote areas", unless you plan to overtake them...beautiful scenery, well captured!

I intend to do this very soon by the end of next year in a 4x4 drive to Mongolia from uk...after watching the part where the warden came along that was re assuring you are not alone in the middle of nowhere and that someone is there should anything happen. Quite re assuring

Mongolia is definitely a different kind of adventure, not about the comfort and easy access we know and love. 21:19 - 22:18 seemed like it was taken straight out of a movie about a different planet.

So the man was not soldier but a preservationist. You don't encounter soldiers in Mongolia very often unless you're at border. You don't need to pay taxes in most of places but there is some places like national reservation you should pay and i think you're there so yeah he just did his job.

I would like to know if you paid something to the local people in the middle of nowhere for the food... Old lady talking about lets see if they give us food if they have a heart... well old lady first you have to have a heart to give to not only take and take and smile to get their food...
While your negativity is astonishing, we have already explained that the place where we ate was a Restaurant/Hotel where we obviously paid. The comment was more refering to the warm welcome we have often received when arriving in such places :)

As Mongolian, It's seems like they are camping specific protected place. Not everyplace has security officers. If anyone camping this kind of place anyone have to pay. Not just tourist.

such a dramatic about the fee basically less than one dollar ,as if it is was 3000euro or something ;) where one the earth would you u be able to camp whereever u want.
well you rock up to someones house and expect to get breckie because of a bit of rain and to me that is not nice when you have a tarp and can cook out side when wet that is BLUDGING IN MY BOOK
You know that place is a Hotel/Camp... they make money selling food, with people like us "tourists" showing up and eating....
They were very welcoming and nice... we played with the kids and they showed us around... as we had our own tents we didn't sleep there :)
