I agree that Satriani and Vai are amazing and I include Paul Gilbert in the trinity of rock mastery.

Here by Tim Pierce's suggestion. Thanks for the upload. I'll be watching more of these videos now that I know. Love Satch's playing and writing, and my personal biggest regret as a player is I had the chance to take lessons from him as a kid. I even used to spends hours looking through all the classical and jazz sheet music in Tupper and Reed Music in Berkeley California where he gave lessons, and I could often hear him teaching and even saw him a couple times. A good friend even mentioned that I should take lessons from this guy named Joe in Berkeley, and I said: Joe who? :/
This was all around the time *Not of This Earth* was put out, but by the time I even heard that one *Surfing* was just around the corner and I could never have afforded the lessons after that. I was lucky enough to learn some of what he taught from friends who were his students though, so I did benefit quite a bit from his lessons regardless. Besides that, listening and learning how to play things by ear is one of the best talents any musician can develop. And in this way I learned a lot more from him more directly in the many years since.
Perhaps more importantly, he has inspired multitudes of other players who have also gone on to inspire players like me; who dare I say, have gone on to also inspire others as both players and instructors as well. Remember when someone asks you how to play something, that you at least attempt some explanation, in the spirit of player/teachers like Joe Satriani.

That Badd11 can be played as regular B major barre chord with open high E, arppegiate E, D, G and high e string, sounds the same cause the fifth fret B and open E are in the same octave.

First chord can be played in easy way also: 5th string-2nd fret (B), 3rd String - 4th Fret (High B), 2nd String - 4th Fret (D#), First String - Open (E). This makes almost like Bm chord shape.

I'm a supper beginner and I can't reach that first chord at all. I have to use the open E instead of fretting the B. It sounds close enough to be cool for anyone with small hands.

Andy I gotta ask why your not playing with some big name band or are you ? With someone as good as you I am always interested in a persons musical background how you got started where your parents musical that sort of thing. You think you could do a Bio someday? Thanks Andy your great take care...

  • @edwardbishop9567

You are a way better guitarist than I,but the first chord that you say you have difficulty with would be made a lot easier by playing 5/0,4/9,3/8,3/9,3/8,4/9 instead, wouldn't it? By just changing the 2/5 note to 3/9 makes life much easier to me....am I missing something?
