- As part of Guitar Center's Master Satriani contest, 10 winners hand-chosen by Joe, had the opportunity to sit in and experience a private master class with Joe Satriani as part of the grand prize. Joe performed and broke down in detail one of his hit songs, "Always With Me, Always With You."

Satriani was always an exeption, being virtuos, knowing about music theory, but playing from the heart. Not "just" music for musicians, he really makes singable songs which everybody could understand not just us guitarplayers...
Man,you wrote my exact thoughts
That's how I've always felt about him. A lot of the people in his league are all shredders, super technical, etc but there's just no feeling in their music. It feels flat and doesn't grab you the same as Satriani. He plays with virtuo level skill and hits you right in the feelings in a different way.
@@Deetroiter Exactly!
Not was. * Is. He’s put out 18 albums at this point and still tours regularly and is almost 70 yrs old. No one has his sound. He’s the best living electric guitarist
Agreed! I was highly influenced in my teenage by his sound. He is such a cool cat.@@stacey_1111rh
My favorite Satch song. I can't help crying for my wife Nancy. I lost her to cancer just this past december 11. I love you and miss you baby girl I'm lost and incomplete without you
Condolences. Two become one flesh, so she's always with you.
Joe wrote this for HIS wife.
I’m so sorry for your loss for your wife man
one of the most beautiful songs ever.
This and "I believe "
What a beautiful song! Can't believe this is the same man who killed Lily and James Potter :(
Never expected to laugh so much reading the comments for this video.
@@ninestonecowboys me too AHHAHAHHAHAH
Best comment ever 😂 dude went from the Sax guy to He who shalt not be named
haha love it!.. Now we know why he was always known as a Wizard on guitar! :)
🤣🤣🤣🤣 Moite!!
Not only is he a great guitarist but a great speaker. His knowledge and passion reaches out in a very humble way.
True indeed.....there is no ego coming from this man, well said.
your right there, no ego at all and thanks..
@@johnswinburn8528Humble master. Taught guitar to many and plays what he feels.
One of my all-time favorite "feel good " songs. Always makes you feel like you're standing on the peak of Mt. Everest, looking down on the world. Satriani is so awesome!
I remember being in a sport's shop when l was like 12 or so! I remember this came on the radio, things were never the same again in the world guitar! Love Joe!
He's my inspiration to play guitar.
No words but full of words. This is the most beautiful song ever.
2:50 one of the best guitar tips ever, love satch`s way of speaking about the instrument...
I bought his dvd, “Live In SanFransisco” years ago. I’m still listening to it today!
I have that live in San Francisco CD myself it's one of my favorites
Played the live in SanFransisco DVD hundreds of times. Never looses it’s it. What a amazing guy to. Joe is Yoda.
The first song that I learnt note by note from a guitar magazine, around 15 years ago. What an amazing song
his eyes... the look in his eyes still is like that of a 18 year old :') love u, satch!
Neither he or anyone else ever has or ever will improve on the original studio track. It's pretty much perfection.
This tune demands a huge amount of nuance, attention to detail and technique, and dynamic control.
All you have to do is compare his playing above with the original track to understand that.
I agree !
I agree 💯
True the original is perfect in every sense. The flow, the scream, the wailing sound. No more embellishments needed
agree
You have to feel it while you play, if you can feel it it the nuance and detail just come out.
Whenever I hear the word legato, joe is the first person I think of. He’s the master of it.
my favorite musician and guitarist of all time.so grateful to watch him live in minneapolis right before his stage.
My favorite of all time to
So touching! Still moves me after all these years! Love it Joe! Thank you!
best composer for electric guitar in my opinion really amazing songs, even people who are not into guitar loves it
Thank you Joe. Your music has been a part of my life for over 30 years.
joe .awesome
.no words for your work from deep of your heart
Always a great song
I remember the days learning this song, Hope their is more to come
This is truly a beautiful song. Just the selected chords and chord melodies are really special. If you listen to this on acoustic steel string or nylon arrangements it still is moving, proving that Joe’s pyrotechnic solos are just icing on the cake. ❤
amazing!! this guy is so humble and down to earth... mark of a true artist !!
Last time I had a Mixolydian explosion was at the Taco Bell public bathroom!! LOL!!!
‘ They are listening to the whole thing‘ And not the bits as he mentioned - that made me feel much better as an amateur classical guitarist as we are looking for perfection
I am so glad that he clarified that 🙏
that tone sounds so heavenly on such a great track like Always
wish i could play with it a bit
Simplesmente ...fabuloso um verdadeiro espetáculo . Uma explosão sonora mais linda que ja ouvi obrigada Joe
Thank you Joe! you have inspired me to take my guitar playing to the next level!
I love those songs played by joe so I always watching oVer it
Joe you are beacon of light we love you dearly.
One of the bests tracks . Brilhant. Pure inspiration compose.
Glad he's saying this. So many guitar virtuosos are locked in their heads trying to get everything technically right when all the listeners, even the advanced students of the instrument, couldn't care less and are just glad to hear good, melodic playing. Tommy Emmanuel is the same way. He realizes he's a showman first, but he's the greatest fingerstyle player in the world. He's humble and intelligent enough to know it's not about him. It's about the experience for the ticket holder or the CD buyer.
Joe, Tommy, maybe Paul Gilbert most of the time. A lot of the rest...they're slaves to their craft and it shows.
+TheBurnout
Yeah I think that's what I've always liked about Joe. He is always able to make it become a storytelling rather than just a guitar solo
It's the melodies, the drums/bass, and his true artistry on the instrument... he's the best!!!
+TheBurnout Monte Montgomery.
It's actually about Music, which is the WHOLE thing. If it was about the ticket holder, oh well. Top 40.
Master mind always creating master job. Really you're the master artist of creating songs and compositions. I salute you sir JS👏👏🙏🙏🤘🤘
Still gives me goosebumps, just a wonderful track.
I could listen to him during hours... and I don't play guitar anymore (thanks to guys like him :-))
Absolutely brilliant musician, this guy has been the biggest influence on my playing along with Robert Fripp.
Leon Todd got it right today, if you don' t like Satch you don't like the sound of electric guitar.
A living legend ! My favorite guitarist
Joe is simply one of the greatest guitar masters of the universe! nuff said~
Beautiful piece,immense guitarist
How many instrumentals can bring tears to your eyes? Such a special tune.
Well said Joe! I believe it's very universal for every job really - most people only care about the whole thing, not all that technical little things behind the scene we all care about so much.
It’s hard for me to think of another modern, hip, virtuosic electric guitar instrumental in 3/4 time?
What a pioneer!
I like the way he played it in the past more so than these days. Anywhere from the live record, "Time Machine" to the live record, "Live in San Francisco". To my ears, the song seemed to have a nicer flow. It seems that in more recent years, he plays it with much more staccato, and to me it kind of loses that flowy, gentle feel. Just my opinion.
Those of you that know Joe's playing really well, and this song in particular, what do you think??
conrad98gtp I never understood why he plays the tempo so slow live versus on the record. And I agree-he used to play it a lot more enjoyably to my ears.
For me, the perfect version has always been the studio version. The best sound, and perfect combo between the flow and the punch.
Totally agree. I don’t like the staccato. It doesn’t flow the same.
@@chambeet Because it is harder to do a punch in live of course.
@@ExpatZ266 Pardon the ignorance, but what is a punch in?
the hole thing ? i never thought of it from there its not about me , its about us what we do a hole thing , thanks joe, a light just came on
+Sam Zuvich
Watch you don't fall onto a whole lol.
yes thats why he's such a big inspiration to all of us (guitarists)
He has the most beautiful melodies of all the guitar shredders
That was so good to hear him say that about cutting nails, I often find myself thinking random crap when playing which is quite distracting.
Such an awesome song from a totally amazing Guitar man!!!!
Yup. Modest man to say when all is said and done, a musician is just the conduit...
My all time favorite ❤
That is what makes an awesome musician, when you don't have an ego and you let the music speak for itself! I would like to be Satch when I grow up.
one of the best instrumental songs ever
Thanks for inspirations me....amazing sound...
My favorite guitar player
I love this song!
What a tune. What a master!
I remember when that song aired it was a major major big deal for me it was a heartbreaking day and it was to my heart that Jesus Himself sent that song for my ears because when I heard it I was astounded and when I heard the name of the tune it was From Jesus To me because my heart was crushed. God bless you Joe satriani
.
It's a beautiful song!
This was our first dance song in our wedding.
What a great lesson for all types of guitar players.
Hes certainly ageing gracefully!
Joe performed this at Expo 92 guitar legends...sublime!
One of the greatest...👍
Grande satriani. Gracias por hacernos felices!
One of the best!
Maestro.
What an amazing guitar!
God, he never ages does he? Awesome!
Greatest. Thank u joe
Sounds like a genuinely nice guy too 👍🏼
Awesome, thanks!
thanks so much !!!
He is my Idol..
So good!
Love this one!
This guy is amazing :)
Great guitarist and great Man.
beautifully said!
Joe's simply the best .....enough said !
Greatest composer of all time
The last bit of information, so true.
Thanks!
I Love music
Minha grande referência, Joe satriani
One of may favorites by The Alien.
master Joe Satriani always fascinates me...
Is it possible that he can ever sound bad? Such fluidity and strength - or perhaps the word 'meekness' even applies - Strength under control... I love his playin'... :)
Precise, I need it that, gracias!!
He looks like a turtle out of his shell, I love him though
Love Joe
I found a backing track for this song on youtube recently, and it is most good. I jam this song pretty much everytime I play guitar, and I had just finished playing it, coincidentally while my roommates were watching that episode and like five minutes before the song was played on the show... I was pretty flabbergasted!
I just about only play this song! I’ve been playing it nearly 30 years. I am still working on it too!
One of the first things I play on a new guitar.
great video!
only alil bit. but it works cause now that one song has led a bunch of people who never knew or heard about the song/his music is probably now exploring how good he really is.
"the process of reaching out sometimes is really messy and ugly i mean you just fall flat on your face, but from that you learn something" definitely, learning this song, i broke my high E string when i was trying hard to perfectly play this song ,due to try to bending it in tune and accurate, but it worth a lot for me. :')
Awesome..👏👏👏
this channel is great
Interesting that he says/infers that by trying your own ideas you fail a lot of the time but ultimately you develop your own style and original sound.Which is in Joe's case
enthuses others to copy his playing note for note, but this is really what he is saying not what to do.Find you own sound listen to as much of what turns you on,but make your own style unique if you want to be unique.Good technique & passion makes Joes style great, and humbleness enables learning.
Man I wish Joe was my guitar tutor.
Waynes guitar noodling same :/
Love Joe
Season 8, episode 5, "Why Can't We Be Friends?". They play Rush "2112" at the beginning, and there's even a shout out to the album on the sign in front of a building, and, right at the end this song is played.
