12 years really. Babymetal formed 2010. This song perform since 2011. Suzuka was 13yo. Yui and Moa was 11yo

Metal doesnt havent to be about high fantasy demons and devils and violence and frankly childishly scaring grannies. Its orchestral, high skilled, glorious and LOUD. I do want chocolate and dancing and a bloody brilliant headbanging dancetastic pageant of metal.

I only just discovered Babymetal less than a month ago and have digested their discography a few times over now. Its truly insane how much talent each one of them have, but special shout out to Su who has the most commanding presence of any performer ive ever seen. Doesnt hurt she cute as hell 😊 i can gladly say they have skyrocketed to one of my favorite artists period
Less than a month ago? (pumps fist in celebration). Less than an hour ago here, thanks to a bump (and too much negative commentary against said bump) from Rob Zombie in my feed. Added every song I could find to my playlist "Audio Energy Drink," and still looking for more. (feat. Tom Morello).... Sign. Me. Up. (And maybe it's because I've had too much chocolate tonight, but you can't change my mind.) 😍

@@peitodefrango they really did, Kami doesn't feel like Kami band at all without them not to mention Hideki's drum grooves are way better for me than Anthony, don't get me wrong he's good but sometimes his fast grooves don't fit or maybe I'm just too used with how the east sounds like🤷♂️

Hey man, still awesome so many years later! Hope they keep going, I know it was a big loss they have, but they are talented. And we need a breathe of fresh air in metal music.
This will never get old. It's going to be like "Panama", or "War Pigs"-it will still be around 100 years from now.
It was old the first time I saw it in 2021, after being blown away by Catch me if You Can with Mikio Fujioka on guitar-had no idea of what I was watching-and figured John 5 was behind it.
This led to discovering NINGEN ISU, then Band Maid.
What I found out about Japanese metal is, it doesn't take itself seriously. It's fun first and foremost, and with Baby Metal, you have Hello Kitty chasing you around with a chainsaw.
And the world is a better place for it.

Crazy thing is, give me chocolate is originally a phrase that Japanese kids picked up just after the War, I guess the American servicemen stationed there had a habit of giving chocolate to the Japanese kids. Even now it's a phrase that everyone in Japan knows.
In South Korea, they have the phrase "Please give me coke" 😂
Most Japanese idols last only a few years.
It's very impressive that they are still performing in front of thousands of people.
They were never really idols in the real sense. Babymetal were originally focused on music rather than idol culture.
And over the years they grew even more distant from it.
Saying that they are idols is like calling all western performers idols.
Yes, Babymetal was essentially created by their producer Koba. But children's bands are not created in any other way in any country. Children must be supervised by an adult.
In any case, the term idol connotes a certain ideology of attracting people with looks and sexuality, which Babymetal have never done. (attracting attention in this way was not their intention)

Not sure I understand the fascination. I JUST learned of them yesterday and have been watching some videos, and all I see is great musicians, and 3 female "vocalists", but one actually singing while the other 2 dancing along. I saw one video where the audience participation was off the charts, but I'm not sure what why they seem so liked.
Initially, I was attracted by the unusual combination of children's vocals and metal (These girls started performing at the age of 11-13). And then I liked the music itself.

She changes the way she sings depending on the songs. She always sounds a little childish singing songs like GC or Iine. Just listen to GC and BMC from a particular show. You will see how different she sounds.

It also sounds like there are some effects on her vocals in this performance, perhaps some pitch change or chorus: it sounds vaguely robotic which suits the song, but I could definitely notice it.

Is Suzuka singing with her new adult voice? It sounds so fire
In fact, Suzuka can sing quite low (listen to Metalizm for example). But in most songs she doesn't sing that low. Perhaps it is difficult for her to sing low, or maybe the songs were written for a high voice.

This is the concept of Babymetal - metal music and children's vocals (not children's anymore). The music isn't all metal either. They often add different genres, including pop.

Babymetal have been performing since 2010. They still sing some of the old songs, and she sings them in that voice on purpose. This is a humorous and not serious song.

Su-metal can sing "more metal". This can be heard from the latest album (2023 playlist). If there was such a need, she would have sung differently.
