Im 32, i live in México and i can tell you back in the day everyone played Metal Slug, it was in every arcade. Also piracy was big for ps 1 games so you could get a copy of a ps1 game for around $20 mxp (that would be like $4 today). I remember going thro the game at least 3 times per week with my cousins. I hope this is a big hit in sales because this brings back so many amazing memories and now we get to pay a little back.
When I was a kid we had a Metal Slug 2 arcade machine in school. I spent a lot of time playing that (and Mortal Kombat 3 next to it). Eventually, I spent more time in the arcade room than in class. I realised I had a serious problem so the following year I bought my own PS2 and a laptop and spent the rest of my life gaming. Problem solved.
@@HyzersGRgood way to keep some of us from going across the road to the bars and pubs. We're talking turn-of-the century high school/sixth form, mind. But yes still wild looking back on it now 😅.
As a tactic games fan, the mechanic of movement generating resources sounds fantastic. Solves one of the biggest issues of turtling and poking enemies from a distance. Thanks as always for your coverage!
"Rawk it Lawnchair!" Metal Slug is one of my favorite series of all time, got 1cc on the first 3 games and almost 1cc on XX. As much as I'd love a proper run and gun, I'm extremely excited for this release.
They really need to get this franchise up and running again, they'd be kept by the latinamerican market I bet. Lots of nostalgia for the OG metal slugs in LATAM.
I really liked OG Metal Slug games growing up, mainly due to their aesthetics. This one appeals to me for the same reason, albeit the style has been somewhat toned down from what I can see. But it shows promise.
I think visually it's the closest they can get without having the original team back. Definitely a noticeably step down from the crisp pixel graphics the original games had, but it's still a great effort and it's clear the current team did their best.
Wow, this is such a blast of nostalgia! I've lost so many coins playing Metal Slug on arcade machines, and I love the way the graphics and animations on this one look just like the classics, but also more modern and stylized. At least in the visuals they did an amazing job, and from what I gather the mechanics seem pretty fun, so I'm definitely giving this a shot.
I think this is one of the best TRPGs I have ever played. I can't overstate how satisfying it feels to set up sync attacks and chain multiple enemies in a round. Once your special abilities and chains start going, it feels so efficient.
Thanks for the video. I hope they had some depth to this one. It's always nice to see devs add their own flavors to other genres. Onward to 400k. All glory to the algorithm.
I have only two complaints for the moment. It is not always clear what fields I can hit (I am aware of the waepons min range and hit patterns). Sometimes I moved to a new position and it turned out I cannot fire at a target for whatever reason. I am sure there is an explanation but it was not apparent to me. I would also like to have some indication what the enemies will do on their turn. I was not expecting it to be very deep since it is a spin-off of an arcade game but I was surprised. It has a lot in common with Into the Breach - no hit chance, weapons have a specific hit pattern, synergy between characters is very important, the way the maps are presented. Pretty decent demo.
Ah. A bouncy sprite game. Well, at least they don't all bounce in sync. Nuts, I'm having a hard time getting past that. But feels like a good check-out too, to give flavor for a game likely of interest to decent fraction of the viewership. Which is great.
My pride. Ever played kof only for Terry cause you where in the middle of nowhere at a truck stop. While metal slug and over head jet shooters where somehow chilling on the same cabinet. Hot for contra hot for tactics what could go wrong.
I love this game series, but turn-based is going to make it even better. The sumptuous pixel art and, of course, Fio are all I need. Looks awesome so far.
I loved Metal Slug at a pizza joint in the 90s when I was in college. I don’t think you really have to know anything about the arcade game to get into this… I think the only thing that carries over really is the aesthetic which is quite great. Looking forward to this one.
I saw it on steam and didn't pay attention at all, I thought it was another re-re-re-release of Metal Slug 2, thanks to you I'll give it a go! Also the comment is to feed the algorithm demon.
Lol.. metal slugs.. cant remember much but remembering the days of ghost and gobin and rolling thunder :D although not as old. Looks like ogre tactics... fascinating.
I really hoped I would like it since I have fond memories of Metal Slug, but it really felt more like puzzle than tactical to me. Less XCOM and more Into the Breach - which doesn't the mean the game isn't good, but just not for me I guess :(
I played the very first level of the demo and uninstalled it. I don't want to spoil anything for when the game releases. I'll wait and enjoy the full release.
hey man, i searched you channel for darkest dungeon videos but i couldnt find any. Have you played already? i think you would like. Specially the first one
It genuinely hurts my soul to hear somebody refer to a game as a "side scroller", that encompasses so many genres that it's a really goofy thing to say. Its like saying "a 3d game", it has next to no descriptive value
still better than my personal pet peeve the "rpg" tag being on everything nowadays - Mort presumably didn't play many games from the pre-3D era when almost everything was a side-scroller
The second I hear a game is rogue-like now my eyes roll back into my head a bit tbh. Just tired of the gameplay conceit, no shade at people using the word or anything

This is something I didn't expect! As a long time fan of the franchise, this looks and sounds amazing!
metal slug was an awesome game. I used to go to the arcade and play for hours...late 90s was an amazing era.
Metal Slug is my favorite side scrolling run and gun series and I love TRPGs so I'm glad this is coming soon.
I’m having a lot of fun with Metal Slug Attack Reloaded. Once you get in the groove it’s pretty addictive. Can’t wait to check this one out.
I recently played through the series with my 8-9 year old nephew. I think it was his first time using a joystick. Good times.

Happy the franchise is still alive. Played this with friends and family back in the day on the playstation and the arcade
I love metal slug and TRPGs, such a welcomed surprise when this was first announced.
Been waiting for this game forever when it was first originally announced. Thought it was mothballed. Thanks for bringing it to my attention
I like it when an otherwise real time series makes a tactics/turn based game, like gears of war tactics. Will give this one a try.
I love how you gain evasion by using your maximum movement. Simply put: it's hard to hit a moving target.
I always thought of Metal Slug as the spiritual successor series to Contra, so it's very interesting to see it like this.
I loved the arcade game way back when. I might check this out, thank you.
OH KAY! 👍
With this and Sword of Convallaria, my trpg craving will be satisfied in 2024.
Holy hell does this bring back the memories
Seems great! And I really like the aesthetic. Well, aside from the strange idle animations of the characters.
Really looking forward to this one. Never played the originals so coming in fresh.
I always loved metal slug's style but hated the gameplay. Finally they made a game for me!

Metal Slug is one of those series of games I always wanted to play through, but I'm lazy. I'd watch 100% reviews for those games.
I hope they continue the run and gun games set piece bosses. Gigantic, pixelperfect machines of destruction.
