I think I might be the first person to have noticed this, but the song that plays from 0:55-1:55 is a distorted version of the Scrap Brain theme from the Master System version of Sonic 1
Specifically Siiva's version slowed down by 25%.

This isn't a first for Sonic.EXE variants, but this took a pretty fun turn once it got to the boss fight, complete with Jaleel White impersonations and messing with the ring and time gauges.
I think the time fluctuation resembles that of Egg Reverie...

I like Sonic.exe takes where Knuckles actually has a boss battle with him.
I find it interesting that the characters in this "special edition" have some notable differences compared to the real characters, which make them resemble the deceased versions from the OG 2012 fangame.
-Tails has naturally black fur, and doesn't use his tails for propulsion.
-Knuckles is more brownish red than normal
-Eggman's glasses are red
Also cool detail that in "You Can't Run Away" is actually playing a distorted remix of Master System Scrap Brain Zone.
Also that stupid meme scream at 0:48 gets me hysterical, LMAO!!!!
I think I remember reading somewhere that if Knuckles was ported to Sonic 1; he would have a brownish red color due to palettes

Honestly, this depiction of the Sonic.exe game of the creepypasta could actually be converted into a real ROM hack, but it would need to be made by someone with a lot of knowledge behind the Genesis/Mega Drive limits.
It would be perfect for trolling my friends by telling them that I have a unique and special version of their favorite game.
We would have to build the game upon Sonic 3's engine for the Character Select, then port the Options music from Sonic 2 into the game, then use Sonic 1's title cards and add a custom "4" to the act number font, then alter the sprites and pallettes of the characters.
Sonath and Tails would be Character ID 00.
Sonath only would be Character ID 01.
Tails would be Character ID 02.
Knuckles would be Character ID 03.
Eggman would be Character ID 04.
Green Hill would be Zone ID 00.
Hide and Seek would be Zone ID 01.
Scrap Brain would be Zone ID 02 until the third act.
Labyrinth would be Zone ID 03 and SBZ Act 3 would be Act ID 03.
"..." would be Zone ID 04.
Sonath's Hill would be Zone ID 00 and Act ID 03.
We would customise each act's title card and change "ZONE" to other text.
The 3D Sonic renders would be remade from scratch, and the custom music tracks and new DPCM samples would be ported into the game, minus the pitchdowns.
Custom sprites would be implemented for Sonath, Tails, Knuckles and Eggman.
Debug mode would access secret ways to defy Sonath's laws. For example, placing S monitors in Act 3 of Scrap Brain would be useful as to defeat Sonath. Another example is that Knuckles would avoid falling in Act 1 of Scrap Brain and complete the level.
Tails' flying code and Knuckles' Glide and Climb abilities would be disabled but would be enabled via cheat codes.
Cheat codes for the timer and ring count would give you empowerment over Sonath, then you would access a good ending.
It would be an endeavor to port the game in Genesis form!
