Agree with you 100%, Ace. There’s no way people are going to play this for a year after playing on the modern version for a year. A new map will have to come soon.
Very much agree. The bits they changed: love it, great changes. The rest: it's just a lick of paint. 7/10 it's a nice change but I would have preferred a totally new map. Really hate the color grading because it makes the visibility less consistent
I think the biggest improvement is how they added more cover. There are fewer super huge areas with zero cover. Example: adding crates and such in the canal.
I may be the only one but I kinda like the lighting. Artistically it is stunning and the feeling with the blue uneasy feeling seems normal for a nuke going off in the mountains....
It's a slight improvement overall that added some new problems(e.g. visibility). I think the improved attention to weapon balancing is what has really improved the experience.
I don't know if a new map would be good man. A lot of ppl like verdansk and building a new map after the huge success verdansk had... I see things going wrong. I like what they did keeping verdansk, improving verdansk and making it it feel a new map.
I really recommend you guys to watch Inkslashers videos on the CoD lifecycles. They never intended to make a second Warzone map as they didn't expect the success of Warzone. The "new map" Ace and many of the community wanted namely the Ural mountains one was meant to be a Black Ops BR and it's still coming this season. Them taking the Fortnite route and giving as an altered version of Verdansk is due to multiple changes of schedules and priorities within Activision and the companies working for them
Activision wanted to go the "safe" route by reskinning the old map, but I was so disappointed they didn't release an actual new map that I stopped playing
many buildings in down town and a lot of houses have ladders to climb to the top which is a nice change from previous verdansk where it would be hard to reach without a helicopter.
They could have done a community post at least, for the player base to vote. 1. Verdansk 1984 - 38% of the votes. 2. ”Mountain map” 62% of the votes *1.500.000 have votes*
In my opinion the "unnatural" feeling about the lightning it was done on purpose. Especially when Raven said "the map feels more greener and different because it is set during spring" but actually it seems like something isn't well at all. There is a big storm coming up and instead of the subway we will get a fast travel system called "The Red Doors" so I think some signature 3arc clusterfuck on the story will happen at some point on WZ.
i dont mind the new map but they should have added a third map so we would have verdansk rebirth island and a new one or even a new map for smaller game modes like warzone rumble and king and so on
I'm surprised so many liked the old lighting more, I'm so glad the brown depressing tint is now gone from Verdask. It's nice to have some color now, and I love that the season is no longer winter.
I do like the new map and I do think it has improvements over the old one. I like having the option of still playing for danks. But I do wish there was a new map as well. Do like the idea of randomly selecting from my pool of maps going forward.
I feel like the bluish lighting is kind of reminiscent of the gritty and cold lighting of Cod 4 and the MW series. It makes the map seem colder, and more ominous.
I also would have preferred a new map but 84 verdanks is good enough for now They reeallyy need to add some more cover in the airfield at airport and at the bottom of summit. Theres a few areas that just feel blank but it is an overall improvement. The visibility is incredible which I’m loving and of course the weapon balancing
I was set on getting a new map. Just changing Verdansk gives a little bit of runway but the shelf life for me is incredibly limited now. Even if the new map was incredibly bad I think the shelf life would have been just as long for me to decide it was a lost cause as this update to Verdansk is going to provide before my interest is gone and I stop playing.
You know the lighting may seem a little unnatural, but I prefer it on the new map. The old map was just so bright and orange I would almost get a migraine after an hour of playtime
I like the new 1984 map and the weapon balance more than the old 2020 map. The point of interest they've added to fill in wide open spaces and spread out the players is quite nice. One complaint I do have is that the game seems to have even more input lag than prior to the CW integration, making it a challenge to enjoy. I do have 600mbps internet, and often sit around 60 ping, but I find my controller inputs (PS4 Pro) often don't register or the game doesn't register that I am very far around a corner since the CW integration. Would be nice if that would be fixed.
In general I like the changes, but would like a totally new place. The biggest thing that needs fixing is the lighting from the sun. It does flare/glare way too often for my tastes.
I enjoy Verdansk 84 as a Map but, despite the changes (and I do still enjoy the map a lot don't get me wrong) it's not enough. So yes on that point I agree with Ace; a brand new map would have been my preference even if I understand why they didn't do that. What I really, really do not like is how they've merged Modern Warfare with Cold War AND Zombies storylines. It's nonsensical and I know most players won't care about that but for me, honestly, it's really putting me off playing. (For full disclosure: I love Zombies gameplay and the Zombies characters/story, but as a seperate "alternative timeline" sort of thing, not mixed in with the "Main" story/timeline.) It's one thing having Modern Warfare Operators in a 1984 setting (or vice versa) but to have Verdansk mixed up with Zombies and then nuked as a result? Incredibly disappointing and kind of shits all over a lot of the good MW story/direction.
Agree on all your points! Map is not enough and mixing zombies in and making the warzone lore really weird also annoyed me. Zombies should be a separate universe within COD and not bleed into MP/WZ.
The fact that they marked this as a "new map" is kinda insulting, if you made someone play 2 games with both versions and didn't tell them the difference, they probably wouldn't even notice
Eh i could go either way with it. What i actually want is new mechanics, equipment, vehicles, more weapons, hopefully more attachments for cw weapons, that sorta thing. New map would be cool but id still rather have new stuff instead.
Biggest improvement atleast to what me and my bros feel like is a big improvement is the ability to climb rocks. But we dont like how airport, superstore, hospital and downtown are the same size. We thought since its now decades before the mw map places like these would have been smaller vertically and horizontally
Speaking about the dam POI improved, ace, I think was the only good addition. All other places remain exactly the same. And stadium was made a whole lot worse so that's like a trade-off. The new POI near superstore is OK, but that still remains deserted and people aren't going there a whole lot. Also the dam is at an extreme corner of the map and you eventually have to move away really far, which was the exact opposite case for the stadium. I think the map is still OK, that isn't a pro of the map design
I'm happy you brought up Apex. I loved that game but as soon as season 3 dropped with worlds edge I stopped playing it because that map wasn't for me. I still would have preferred a new map but I'm also very happy with verdansk '84
Why TF is it necessary to remove one map to add a 2nd map? Surely these games have a healthy enough player base to divide the community between two maps.
Long range sniping > 300 meters using Ultrazoom and Vulture zoom (if you want to try something different) Bullet drop is based on the barrel used and not bullet velocity. Bullet drop , you need to map it to a reticle for it to be useful. For combat recon barrel I used vulture zoom and ultra zoom for long distance greater than 300 meters to 1000 m Bullet drop for reticles ultra zoom and vulture zoom They behave as SFP second focal plane scopes which means you have to have max magnification for the dope chart to be useful Dope chart for combat recon Ultra Zoom scope Meters Scope mark 100 0 200 1 300 3 400 6 500 10 600 12 700 15 800 18 900 22 1000 25 You have to be at max zoom Since we SFP second focal plane For vulture zoom on combat recon barrel divide the above values by 2. The Scope has 0 being the center of the Crosshair. For ULtra Zooom, there are 3 marks between 0 and 5 0, 1, 2, 3, 5 (there is no 4) so for 300 yards for example you hit 3 so you go to the mark directly above 5. 6 is the mark directly after 5 there is no 9, 14, 19, 24
I like that they generally kept the same map and I really like the changes they made. I think Verdansk is one of the best battle Royale maps and I think making a new might have been trying to fix something that wasn’t broke.
I think this was the best approach. The map feels new but familiar. There are way more ways into buildings now to push people and helps eliminate campers. The biggest complaint right now with the map is the lighting. The lighting is giving me horrible flashbacks to the Blackout Spring Map. It’s just too bright and too blue, I do hope they adjust this in future updates.
I definitely agree with the randomization idea. You don't know which map you get until you get in there. I'd also add in different times. So you might get Verdansk at dusk or dawn.
The building is from cod4 campaign and multi-player map called bloc. Which is based off chernobyl in Ukraine. This has been known for a while but it is odd that this particular building keeps finding itself in new cod games. Other buildings in verdansk are also from cod4. Some houses are based from cod4 map overgrown. "Grandma's house" was the term for it. If you look it up you'll recognize it in verdansk
I wish we could keep 84 since it is better than the original Verdansk but I wish we could get a Ural Mountains map along side it and could see them both evolve because the Ural Mountains had so many locations from both Black Ops and Modern Warfare like the Countdown War Room and Makarov’s estate that way we could have to maps that play differently since the cod player base is so diverse.
I like the '84 version more as well, although some games I feel like there's no ammo anywhere. Most games its fine, but other games I can't find armor, money or ammo which can be frustrating. I like the new map more though, they made good adjustments. It's a little too bright too, kind of like Blackout was.
The "new" map is way better than it was before. Though they should add a completely new map, with it being optional (for those with size issues), so you choose what map you wanna download (either Verdansk or "the new map").
And if you're not messing with your visual settings this map looks gorgeous and I have no problem seeing other players especially compared to the original.
They could do Apex's current style of deciding which map to play, which is just a 30 minute cycle between all 3 maps. As in, Kings Canyon is available for 30 min, then World's Edge is available for 30 min, and then finally Olympus is available for 30 min. However, I don't know if this is a popular version of map selection or not. As with PUBG's (old) style, which was just being able to fully choose which map to queue for, that (I imagine) split the community & resources up too much. But then again, CSGO has lived for so long with just being able to choose which maps to queue for, albeit wait times got too high occasionally.
I wish Xbox didn't take it upon themselves to go ahead and delete all of my clips. I had so many memories with both versions of this map. I know I had time to upload them elsewhere. But I still don't agree with them deleting stuff from my storage lol
They could have done SOO much more like all those red unplayable areas on the outskirts of the map could have been at least previous Treyarch maps. This would keep the map familiar but also add options to land elsewhere or play elsewhere. Plus the lighting is a problem and the colours or something makes it harder to spot enemies. Besides this the actual structure and renovation is much better and more fresh.
After seeing the cuts between verdansk 2019 and 1984, i really like the new map and think its much better, i think it isn’t just because its new but i also really think the changes they made are overall positive and reduced the sparseness of certain parts of the map. I think its weird that some parts like boneyard didn’t really see any time related changes with respect to plane layout and general appearance tho i mean come on, you’re telling me those planes have sat like that for over 40 years completely untouched?
I'd like to think that the next map will be the CW Fireteam maps combine but the danger will be radiation from Chernobyl incident. This would take place during 1986. That Antonov operator since to be from 1986 Chernobyl, there is a badge saying Pripyat' stick on him. Storyline might be CIA or Perseus sabotage the plant.
The filters and high level of brightness I find can be overwhelming. Especially when using snipers as it's like the sun is shining straight into your eyes through the scope making it harder to shoot long-distance shots (depending on the direction).
As a aggressive player that barely snipes, this evens the advantage that snipers had against players like me.

Fun Fact: the thought gets better the longer you think about it
That map was ass
In 2023, we’d take either map at this point.
Agree with you 100%, Ace. There’s no way people are going to play this for a year after playing on the modern version for a year. A new map will have to come soon.
2019 map all day baby! Nostalgic is a real thing!
Very much agree.
The bits they changed: love it, great changes. The rest: it's just a lick of paint. 7/10 it's a nice change but I would have preferred a totally new map. Really hate the color grading because it makes the visibility less consistent
I think if we started with the 80s verdansk and then moved to the old one many people would be annoyed
I disagree, 80s verdansk should of been added months ago. And a new map added rn
@@ericpeterson541 That's not was he's saying though. He's saying that people would be annoyed if we went from Verdansk '84 to classic Verdansk.
@@hoohaman8061 misread his point ty, if they did that the game would fuckin die
@@ericpeterson541 Game is already dying lol
@@playdohtre statistically the player base is growing but I think a lot of veteran players have gotten bored of WZ
I think the biggest improvement is how they added more cover. There are fewer super huge areas with zero cover. Example: adding crates and such in the canal.
I think having the map be randomly day or night each game could help keep making the game feel like fresh experience a longer time
I may be the only one but I kinda like the lighting.
Them taking the Fortnite route and giving as an altered version of Verdansk is due to multiple changes of schedules and priorities within Activision and the companies working for them
Both awesome. Shame that we did not had Verdansk 44.
I would have liked a totally new map..now I just stay on resurgence.
Same. Until they go to trios or duos and I have a full squad forced to play verdansk 😡
They could have done a community post at least, for the player base to vote.
1. Verdansk 1984 - 38% of the votes.
2. ”Mountain map” 62% of the votes
*1.500.000 have votes*
100% agree - map improved overall, areas are all playable now.
The next map is obviously going to be Verdansk 1944 with the next COD being set in WW2
*Potentially
I love the new 1984 version. I would of preferred a new map but I never wanted warzone on the blackops engine. So this works for me.
i dont mind the new map but they should have added a third map so we would have verdansk rebirth island and a new one or even a new map for smaller game modes like warzone rumble and king and so on
I'm surprised so many liked the old lighting more, I'm so glad the brown depressing tint is now gone from Verdask. It's nice to have some color now, and I love that the season is no longer winter.
I do like the new map and I do think it has improvements over the old one. I like having the option of still playing for danks. But I do wish there was a new map as well. Do like the idea of randomly selecting from my pool of maps going forward.
Anyone still prefer blackout map?
Yes way better than Verdansk!
The coloring is reflective of the big storm that is on coming from the ocean and the general overcast of the sky as a result.
I feel like the bluish lighting is kind of reminiscent of the gritty and cold lighting of Cod 4 and the MW series. It makes the map seem colder, and more ominous.
2024 now we all just want verdansk back...
I also would have preferred a new map but 84 verdanks is good enough for now
They reeallyy need to add some more cover in the airfield at airport and at the bottom of summit.
I get a migraine playing two games on the new map. I barely play anymore due to the new lighting
@@bigpoppagus hmm odd. I’d expect otherwise since the new lighting is toned down but I guess it depends from person to person
Verdansk is the best map we have had
*only map
I don't mind the changes except the lighting feels like it's burning through my retinas and I need to put on sunglasses.
(For full disclosure: I love Zombies gameplay and the Zombies characters/story, but as a seperate "alternative timeline" sort of thing, not mixed in with the "Main" story/timeline.)
It's one thing having Modern Warfare Operators in a 1984 setting (or vice versa) but to have Verdansk mixed up with Zombies and then nuked as a result? Incredibly disappointing and kind of shits all over a lot of the good MW story/direction.
Agree on all your points! Map is not enough and mixing zombies in and making the warzone lore really weird also annoyed me. Zombies should be a separate universe within COD and not bleed into MP/WZ.
I feel totally cheated out! We deserved a new map!
I think the map is still OK,
that isn't a pro of the map design
What I like about 84 verdansk is the new ladder placements in downtown and other buildings around the map
I'm happy you brought up Apex. I loved that game but as soon as season 3 dropped with worlds edge I stopped playing it because that map wasn't for me. I still would have preferred a new map but I'm also very happy with verdansk '84
Play titanfall 2 its like a base game apex
@@ioankibble8866 titanfall 2 is awesome. I beat the campaign last year and it was amazing. It's so slept on
@@TheDanimal91 agreed
If PUBG can have multiple maps all available with no crossplay. Warzone can have two with its massive player count
Why TF is it necessary to remove one map to add a 2nd map? Surely these games have a healthy enough player base to divide the community between two maps.
Long range sniping > 300 meters using Ultrazoom and Vulture zoom
(if you want to try something different)
Bullet drop is based on the barrel used and not bullet velocity.
Bullet drop , you need to map it to a reticle for it to be useful.
For combat recon barrel
I used vulture zoom and ultra zoom for long distance
greater than 300 meters to 1000 m
Bullet drop for reticles ultra zoom and vulture zoom
They behave as SFP second focal plane scopes which means you have to have max magnification for the dope chart to be useful
Dope chart for combat recon
Ultra Zoom scope
Meters Scope mark
100 0
200 1
300 3
400 6
500 10
600 12
700 15
800 18
900 22
1000 25
You have to be at max zoom Since we SFP second focal plane
For vulture zoom on combat recon barrel divide the above values by 2.
The Scope has 0 being the center of the Crosshair.
For ULtra Zooom, there are 3 marks between 0 and 5
0, 1, 2, 3, 5 (there is no 4)
so for 300 yards for example you hit 3
so you go to the mark directly above 5.
6 is the mark directly after 5
there is no 9, 14, 19, 24
I like that they generally kept the same map and I really like the changes they made. I think Verdansk is one of the best battle Royale maps and I think making a new might have been trying to fix something that wasn’t broke.
Love the new map, love the blue tinge...loving it
Here's an idea. They could do what Apex is doing now and do a map rotation every hour
Both versions are good. Really like the Alcatraz map as well.
“Save money” when they make a million dollars a day ffs lol
I like the new map but I think they just didn‘t change enough in some areas. Many areas just look the same with minor adjustments
An interesting fact: the swimming pool from Verdansk is based on the swimming pool in the nuclear town of Chernobyl
Look it up, kinda scary
We already know that since MW launch.
I think we should have both versions as options.
I love the new map, the new pois, the new look and feel to it and there is way more cover between areas
I like 2019 Verdansk alot more than the 1984 one.
I love ‘84. That said I’d love to see a new map. Maybe a desert map? Or a jungle map?
They could do Apex's current style of deciding which map to play, which is just a 30 minute cycle between all 3 maps.
As in, Kings Canyon is available for 30 min, then World's Edge is available for 30 min, and then finally Olympus is available for 30 min. However, I don't know if this is a popular version of map selection or not.
As with PUBG's (old) style, which was just being able to fully choose which map to queue for, that (I imagine) split the community & resources up too much.
But then again, CSGO has lived for so long with just being able to choose which maps to queue for, albeit wait times got too high occasionally.
I like the colors of 84 much better it's way less dull
Love the new map, hate the new lighting and especially when entering/exiting a building the constant eye adjustment actually hurts my eyes
