your voice doesnt sound that diff to me listening through headphones. like, i have to actually pay attention specifically to the sound of your voice to realize its a lil bit unlike it was before. if it sounds better for people with good speakers then you did a great job :)

I will absolutely play Automaton Lung if it comes to PC! But part of me thinks the creator specifically made it for the 3DS and put it on the eshop because the 3DS is such an old console and you would eventually lose the ability to buy and play it, rendering it an actual relic instead of a game that just emulates one. Or maybe that’s just me thinking too hard
You can still add funds to 3DS/WiiU by linking your nintendo account with your switch account and adding funds there, so Automaton Lung is still purchasable in the US from now until March. After seeing this vid I'm definitely picking it up!

I used to watch Crayon Shin Chan on adult swim back in the day but since I haven't gone back to it and no one ever seems to talk about it's faded into the fever dream space in my mind. So seeing a whole ass new game for it was a nice, weird surprise.
The Western dub of Shin Chan made him into an absolute asshole, as opposed to a crude, pervy kid. Still going strong in Japan though - there's been a theatrical release every year since 1993
Imagining the spanish dub followed the english dub, I can see why I never liked Shin Chan, kinda sad tbh, but I don't think knowing this will change my opinion now. Automaton Lung seem like a more casual Yume Nikki. Instead of needing exact effects to get to exact places the game just want you to collect whatever squares on your own time in any way you want. You always making progress on Automaton Lung where on Yume Nikki there is literally only one way to get the Fat effect and it is always annoying as hell to reach it for example.
Dude all of Luke Vincent's games are dope as hell, he's one of my favorite indie/solo devs for sure just for exactly what you said about the 'dreamlike ethereal' vibes... definitely a throwback to LSD Dream Emulator-era weirdness and I love it

Yeah, finding out that Shin-chan was supposed to be “for kids” was horrifying as I went over the dub in my head. Then again, the shin-chan dub is one of those things like Ghost Stories that ended up being a chaotic, unique creation and I love it for that.

Now imagine if spongebob was suddenly turned into an adult show where spongebob is a pervert, squidward is a ped.phile, mr. crabs is a corrupt politician and cindy is a prostitute. That's basically what they did to shin chan in the adult swim dub. No wonder the Japanese executives got mad and axed the show.

I still have my file of the first Boku game but the language barrier makes it tricky to chill to when I'm trying very hard to understand the language. Might be a good studying tool, sure, but I have always sucked at studying.

The Shin-chan game came out here in taiwan a couple of months ago, and the best part was that the entire taiwanese dub cast (the way 99% of taiwanese ppl know shin-chan) re-did all of the vocal tracks. it's a shame it's not the best shin-chan actress who did most of the episodes of the tv show and movies, since she passed away, but it's still fantastic !
Guess i'm gonna have to play this while i wait for Peripeteia to release. This is like what PS1 games were trying to be, it gives me immense Tomb Raider and Neversoft Spider-Man vibes. EDIT: You can still buy it. My Nintendo account is linked with my 3DS, so i just purchased it with paypal on the Nintendo website and then downloaded it on my 3DS. Its only 8 dollars. It was fun, although my arthritis riddled hands were in pain the whole time. The 3DS just isnt a very ergonomic system imo and this coming from someone that owns a New 3DS XL. Uh, dont fall in the hole in the floor next to the number door if you're not done exploring the game. It takes you to the final bosses and theres no way back other than just restarting the game and loading the last check point. The games ending is also pretty cryptic. Automaton Lung is less of a shitpost imo and more of a post-modern experience. I dont think there's supposed to be a definitive story(?) Everything that happens in the final stretch of the game is left completely ambiguous, which i think was a smart decision for a game like this. The game is so abstract in both concept and aesthetic that its honestly a really good call i think to let the player fill in the gaps with their imagination. I think a game like this having a concrete story would only hinder what its trying to do, which is be this atmospheric dreamscape that you just get completely lost in. If you're not into stuff like vaporwave or what have you, i'd stay clear of this game. Its an acquired taste I think, the controls are rough around the edges and the lack of a story might turn off some people.
