For as many times I’ve hated this game, there have been 20 times I’ve loved this game. It’s a great game, especially considering how long this game has been top quality. Plus it’s free to play. Even if I’ve spent hundreds of dollars on it, that’s because I’ve wanted to, not because I was forced too.

That bit about it being perfect at 5v5. In hexakill the whole game is vastly different and more fun with one character not being meta. Dual jungle, Double support, double adc, top lane tag team, or just someone to take lanes so no one needs to leave a lane empty. I'm sure if it was permanent there would be a meta but honestly not knowing what that sixth player will do makes it so much more exciting.

    • @isaakward4393
      @isaakward4393 Год назад

I did love hexakill but for some reason 5 works so well for competitive it would be cool to see a more long term version of 6v6, maybe adding an extra minion on each wave or somethin

  • @jrudy457

I think one thing you missed is the diversity and profound impact of items in the game. The way that building differently on a champion completely redefines them; their strengths, their weaknesses, the overall feel of playing them... it opens up so much room for experimentation, and for crafting your build to suit your playstyle and your needs in a lane matchup or team composition.

Just get good with like 3-5 champs and try to have a support main for when you get autofilled

      - CS well!
      - Ping
      - Stay calm and focused
      - Help other lanes!
      - Ward!!!
      - It's okay to play easier characters!
      - Focus on one to two roles! Be able to play support!
      - It's good to let yourself get carried too ^^
      - Don't die when you don't need to! If you can trade lives or have to immediately back, it may not be worth it!
      - Pick your fights!

The best way to escape bronze is to pick one mechanically easy champion(Jax, Annie, Tryndamere...) and only play that champion. In bronze it's not about playing better than the enemie, it's about letting them play worse than you. Games usually tend to be one-sided(at least it used to be like that when I was in bronze), so getting an early lead can help out a lot. I recommend playing jungle or support if you are mechanically bad and/or have high ping, and mid/adc if you are confident in your ability to carry and are mechanically good. I, personality escaped bronze playing Jax jungle(this was back in season 6, my second season, when I was placed in bronze 3 and dropped down to bronze 4). Usually you will slowly climb until you get like a 10 game win streak, then you will make a breakthrough. Anyway, good luck in the new season when you escape bronze!

1:13:57 in GW2 the best tanks also serve as the best supports and take quite a bit of skill to pull off properly, they don't necessarily heal but they provide absolutely necessary buffs to the raid group.
Super well done by the way, I had this in background but still alt-tabbed every now and then. Yeah you totally didn't need the gameplay but it was nice at times to showcase points, definitely more suited for a vlog-style video. Keep up the great work.

I think the main thing that's kept me around since S2 is that the highs of League stick with you more than the lows. My only misplay that I can remember was yesterday when I got a bit too optimistic about fighting Warwick on Shen after I killed Jax, and got my face nommed.
However, I can still remember a play I made (also on Shen) a few months ago when I killed 3 full-health enemies while at about 1/4 health in the late game.
Hell, I can still remember a play I made years ago when I got this huge 5-man Gnar ult in the jungle near the enemy red buff. We won the game off that and I didn't stop smiling for days.

Hey Gbay! Cool video, some nice words about the game we all love and adore, but one thing that stood out to me, that you did not mention was how fun League is to learn. When you first start you have have no idea what youre doing and you are trying to figure out how things work and it is really an amazing experience discovering the game on your own and finding out all "tricks" and facts and stuff you can or should do. I remember it was such a weird moment for me back when I first started a couple years ago, I was looking though the champ list looking for an interesting champion to buy next and i stumbled upon a champion I haven't seen in a game before, despite having played the game for a couple weeks at that time. That champ was Udyr and it was so interesting to me that this guy had no active skills, just different buffs he gave to himself. I was dying to try him out, but at the same time I wanted to play all these other champions and learn more how to play them and get better at them, and in the end it took me a couple days before I actually played Udyr, because even though he was something completely new to me, I was always finding more new stuff and finding out more new information that it was hard to focus on one thing. And that I think is one of the beauties of League too. Just a little bit o reminiscing. Thanks for the vid and keep up the great work! - long time fan.

When I started League of Legends, I only did it because I had to play either this or Heroes of Newerth, while waiting for the release of Dota 2. One thing that I remember amazed me in its gameplay (in comparison to other Mobas) is the itemazations philosophy. In Dota, the game is built around the 3 attributes, Strenght, Agility and Inteligence, where specific heroes are oriented to a certain attribute, so when they build it, it also inmcreases their attack damage(not sure if its still that way, however.)
Riot decided to remove the complexity from that and just divide types of damage into either magic or physical damage. So they added scaling to the spells, which i found is a very interesting thing of the game. I mean, the simplest things, like that a spell can scale with ability power so hard that it does lots of damage late game seem natural to us, but they werent back in the day. the game started focusing harder on the gameplay than the graphics, and later, when they already had established a pretty unique and smooth gameplay, the focused on making the game look cool

I am a Diana onetrick. There are quite a few things i like about her:
    - even though she has a simple concept it is hard to play her good (if you're bad you might get kills but you die just as often)
    - over time you learn small Details that change quite a lot (her e can stop rammus when he's rolling towards you)
    - because a lot of people forget her they suck at that matchup and people underestimate the damage she can do
    - nobody picks or bans her
    - i can learn the makro game without having to struggle with the champion
Playing nearly only Diana for most of season 7 made me have a 70-80% winrate in that preseason (havent played too much S8 rankeds yet)

I like long talk videos like these. Cool to listen to rather than visually watch.
League's ranking system is keeping me highly motivated to keep playing, compared to any other game. My mmr has been increasing after each season and it feels so good to improve. I'm aiming for diamond since I finished with platinum in season 7.
League will be here for such a long time if the Riot team keeps doing what they are with the game.

actually gbay i think balancing nasus and veigar are actually very easy to do, all you have to do is figure out the average game time, and since you can control the minions spawn timer, you have to make it so that these characters can get enough damage to be useful by a certain time mark. You can just adjust the amount of damage they gain per minion kill without going too overboard or making it too underwhelming.

My only nitpick would be, as a support main, I really wish you had better insight into the support role. I don't really know who you are, but I guess it is fine because you also don't really know a thing about me. What I would like to do is say thanks for making such great videos which all mostly amble along gaming.
It is hard to describe, but all the way back when the first one of your videos was suggested to me by youtube I already enjoyed the way and stile you use. After I managed to land on three of them, I began to consciously remember you and take the 'gbay99' as some sort of quallity.
Now I still only saw very few of your videos, however in each single one I found that this thoughtful and admirable meaning does exist and I'm greatful to see someone presenting it that well. Clearly you are aware of what happens to you and just the way you are filling it into a learning experience on a philosophical approach feels inspirational to me.
All of this would easily go into a small 'thank you', but I like to make it a little bit more meaningful even if it only is from a stranger to a stranger and surrounded by strangers^^
And if you have read all that far you may think alike, so why do you not also leave some kind words below for someone you apparently enjoy watching as well?
Alrigthy, finsihed here! Goodbye says Phy :)

I just watched this entire video begining to end, and I loved it so much. As some one who mains mid and support I especially loved what you said about lane, and everything you said about supports. I agree with almost every statement I this video. The only thing i disagree, is what you said about ADC. While its true that most DO focus on autos, there is one example that is different and that is MF. Her autos (aside from her pasive auto) are horrible. So she has this interesting mechanic where she doesn't sit back and auto like most ADCs.

Amazing to see how much effort you actually put in to these videos. It’s hard to not see how much you genuinely love to work with this kind of stuff. I think you would do very good in something that has to do with gaming development or something like that. Aim for that, you would fit perfect for it!

I think this is actually a very good video. League can be so toxic sometimes and i think that its good to step back and appreciate what this game has done and why it can be so fun/addicting to play

Walking around in super fun in TF2. TF2 had classed based combat that was around before League. Tf2 pretty much relates to most of the things you say.

I think what makes League of Legends fun compared to most other games, is its abundance of skill shots. I only wish it had more of them and less point and click abilities.

I've been slowly chipping away at this video but it's kind of hard bc I lose interest in things fast and normally when I watch like LCS or a league youtuber play League it just makes me itch to play league so that's distracting me lmao. But it's been a great video so far.

Just dropping by to say that the whole deal with turn rates is super subjective. You may feel like turn rates makes the game muddy, but honestly not having it feels unnatural to me.
Also turn rates are a very important part of game balance

yo, you touched on the starcraft-map balance thing: there are alot of different reasons why maps are STILL not balanced and balancable. first of all do the different races expand differently (a zerg for example usually takes greedy bases in "bad" positions because he can get away with it were as a protoss can absolutely not), more importantly tho do the different units influence map dynamic alot. everyone playing SC2 for a longer time now remembers how INCREDIBLY broken the siegetank-medivac harrass was on certain maps. the BIGGEST problem are 4 player maps tho as the spawns on these maps are completely RNG. you could spawn cross-map from each other and by perfectly mirrored, you could however both spawn on the west side and have one of the players be completely fucked because he would have to expand towards the enemy or something equally as bad

The thing with quitting this game is that you can't sell any of your shit except for trying to sell your account. The reason I was able to quit CS:GO and Dota 2 is because I sold all the items I had for games on Steam, and because none of my friends played these games anymore, playing them got boring, and so I quit. In league I can't do that so there is the money aspect that keeps making me come back to this game. Eventually you lose the great feeling that you get from a game and only feel the bad emotions when you feed, lose and make the wrong decision. I think if I could sell all my shit in league I would've quit this game months ago.

Is lol done growing? I'm not asking if it's dying because i believe that even if all of a sudden no more people download the game and then people start leaving lol has a big enough core fanbase to sustain the game. Like how even before the remaster cod4 had enough people to find a game of tdm.
I'm asking has lol reached its peak? Are future and planned update geared towards maintaining that player base or bringing in new players?
I recently made a new acc and on my way to level 30 and in most matches something like 8 out of 10 players were smerfs too. And not once was i the only smerf.

ishmael arc that's because lol has an algorythim that looks at your in game stats to decide if you are a smurf or not. If the system thinks you are a smurf, you get put in "smurf queue" with other smurfs and higher ranked players. Thats why you are seeing so many smurfs.

    • @benjaminschroder4074

ishmael arc i think for the most part lol has stopped
growing (or is atleast growing very little).
Riot once released data each year on how many people were playing.
I believe they stopped doing that around 2015, and to me that’s a pretty good indication, that its not growing much (or atleast not booming the way it used to).
