I love both Marvel and DC. While there are many characters I enjoy from both companies, I just don't take sides. I love both of them equally as they shaped my childhood and influenced me much more as I grew older. Characters like Spider-Man, Ghost Rider, The X-Men, Batman, Superman, and The Teen Titans among many others made me start collecting comics and watching the movies. 5:00 I get what you’re saying. A lot of people have said it and I do mostly agree, but it’s still kind of funny that DC feels more mythological than Marvel, even though Thor and Hercules are both prominent heroes over there.
I would create an Antman and Wisp show to show up mashup worlds by theme. DC & Marvel street-level heroes are in one world. DC & Marvel magic/horror characters are in another world etc. It’s pretty hard for me to choose what I like better between Marvel or DC. If u were to ask me what my favorite heroes of all time. It goes 1. Batman 2. Spider-Man 3 Captain America 4 Superman 5 the Flash (Barry) 6 the Hulk 7 green lantern(Hal Jordan) 8 Nightwing/robin(dick) 9 Thor 10 Wonder Woman. As u see based on my list the ranking fluctuates. One minute u see a dc hero over a Marvel hero and the next u see a Marvel hero over a dc. But if really really really had to choose I would say DC over Marvel only because unlike Marvel DC has way better side characters that can easily replace the main heroes. With Batman, you have Nightwing and the rest of the Robins along with the rest of the Bat family and Batman beyond. With Superman, you have a super girl and a super boy. With Wonder Woman you Donna Troy Wonder Girl. Flash Barry Allen has Wally West Flash. Hal Jordan Green Lantern or John Stewart Green Lantern can eventually later have Kyle Rayner Green Lantern. While Marvel really only has Peter Parker and Miles Morales.
that is my top 5 hot pick next this week to work on set a new stage okay 20:41 NOW PLAYING I am bored here and will make my own Cinematic Universe next week.
    5. There was an article published 12 days ago where they revealed back in 1984 that Marvel almost purchased DC comics. Former Marvel editor-in-chief Jim Shooter posted on his webpage back in 2011 that he received a phone call from Bill Sarnoff the chairman of Warner Books: “What we wanted to talk about was licensing the publishing rights for all DC characters to Marvel comics.”
    4. The reason was how Marvel consistently outperformed DC in comics sales at the time. The seven DC titles that Marvel would have got were Superman, Wonder Woman, Batman, Green Lantern, Teen Titans, Justice League, and the Legion of Superheroes. However, the deal never went through cuz Marvel was going through a lawsuit by a smaller indie publisher First Comics, and two well-known writers Frank Miller and Alan Moore (Watchman and Dark Knight Returns). When I was a kid I also liked Marvel more, but in my later teens I started to prefer DC more A huge selling point for DC is the villains. Fan consensus usually holds that Marvel has better heroes but DC has infinitely better villains. And I agree with the better villains part. For as fascinating as Magneto may be, he's easily outnumbered by amazing DC villains. I used to be a DC fan over Marvel, then a Marvel fan over DC and now I'm just a big fan of both (still trying to get more into the DC side tho) both are good to fix it as a threat to the comic industry.
    3. I agree but I have always been a new Batman voice fan ever since I was a child I like Marvel for different reasons but yeah DC will always be what I gravitate to first I'm a huge DC fan Brilliant MY MAN!!
I agree that DC is more fantastical For me DC’s superiority comes from the complex vertigo comics with Sandman and Lucifer being some of the greatest comics that I’ve come across, I simply can’t find any Marvel counterpart for these characters, and stories. The endless are such interesting written concepts put any high-powered Marvel Cosmos to shame in terms of writing etc, even with goofiness and weirdness Doom Patrol takes the cake in that. It was never just about Superman, Batman, joker, watchmen, etc they’re just another big chunk to name from DC. Marvel is good though just not better.
As for the one character I would steal from Marvel and put in DC, that would be Spider-Man, because of the fact that he leans more into the fantasy element and has a secret identity like the DC Characters do.
    2. So I think Spider-Man would definitely work very well in DC. Maybe even the X-Men, especially Wolverine. You can't kill him and he has a healing power and that's what makes him so interesting. To me, I don't really have a favorite I see them as close enough in similarity to the point I don't pick one over the other. Both are great in their own right and have their own strengths and weaknesses with how they are depicted I feel like reading DC is kind of like metaphors and Anthology.....I don't know how to explain it but DC feels like a huge real-life "what if" story, at least half of the time. I guess mythology might be a good comparison. Anyway, that's just me being a diehard Batman fan I guess, I like Marvel too but just new Spider-Man pretty much.....and I guess a few other select characters How would you do the Batman Who is Better Laughs in Top 10? My first thought of something to steal from Marvel was X-Men as well lol. I’d love to see Martian Manhunter interact with Magneto & Charles. I think Batman, Superman, and Spider-Man are the most interesting villains. That's one of the reasons why I rank them as my top 3.
I like DC more than Marvel for several reasons:
    - Much better comics overall (especially limited series)
    - Better characters overall (especially legacy ones)
    - Much stronger villains and teams
    - I like to look up to my heroes more than relate to them.
    - A lot of comic creators I just love much more than over in Marvel
    1. I am starting to read some Marvel comics recently and am honestly surprised by how depressing it is. Especially the Marvel civilians, they are psychopaths. Anyway, for me personally, Superman and Batman are the most relatable characters ever. Reasons I Like DC Over Marvel. DC has Green Lantern, but Marvel does not. I actually started as a Marvel fan due to the huge amount of Marvel TV Shows there in the '90s when I was a kid. X-Men, Iron Man, Spider-Man, Hulk, Fantastic 4. The list goes on. In contrast, there were really only 2 DC TV Shows, Batman the Animated Show, and Superman.
part 1. So I was more into Marvel at the time. However, that changed in the early 2000s when the animated show Justice League aired. It introduced me to several new DC characters that I had never seen before (Hawkgirl, Green Lantern, Martian Manhunter, Wonder Woman. I knew about Wonder Woman but had never actually seen her before that show). Needless to say, I was into that show. I particularly found Green Lantern fascinating, and wanted to learn more about him.
part 2. A few years later, Teen Titans aired and I loved that show. It introduced me to several new characters, such as Cyborg, Starfire, Raven, and Beast Boy, who was my favorite. But I think what really sold me on DC was the TV Show Young Justice, that aired a few years ago. I really love that show and it's what officially made me a DC fan. I began studying a bit on DC since I knew less about that than I did Marvel, and in the process, I learned more about the whole Lantern Mythos, with the different emotions and all that jazz. I fell in love with that concept and it's why Green Lantern is my favorite Superhero to this day, besides the fact that Hal is just super cool.

Dc’s output tends to be more interesting than Marvel’s in regards to comic books. The best Dc stories are mostly told answering the question “What are the implications of the existence of this larger than life character and how does their existence mold the society around them?” while Marvel stories are much more mundane, like “what if Reed Richards couldn’t pay his bills?” (btw, that’s a real storyline from the fantastic 4).

    • @Nemo-oj8mb
      @Nemo-oj8mb 8 месяцев назад +4

I think DC is more consistent in outputting interesting stories. But let’s not act like they don’t have their fair share of whimsical stuff.
Marvel stuff like Silver Surfer: Requiem, Spider-Man: Blue, literally Daredevil’s entire history, Immortal Hulk, and so on are pretty interesting and profound books.
To some degree these books aren’t hailed to the level of DC works since Marvel isn’t exactly popular for that style.

simplyfying marvels characterd down to that when using a profound reason for DC is just unfair, as stan himself said "marvel is, has, and always will be, a reflection of the world outside your window" its more about asking questions about the meaning of life and the difficulty it entails but telling the story in a fantastical way. marvel has some of the most profound books out there i mean most great writers write for both companies for a reason

I may be a loyal fan to Marvel, but I like and value DC just as much. Since both companies gave us some of the most iconic characters in fiction and keep each other on their toes with their rivalry. Plus in regards to your idea of bringing the X-Men over to DC and having interesting character dialogues, one that has been sticking with me for a while is one between Cyclops and Nightwing. Not only were both of their teams popular during the 90s- early 2000s especially the X-Men, but I can also see a rivalry( maybe a bitter one) form between them as Cyclops not only would be a dangerous rival because he's willing to make questionable choices, but his leadership is on par and arguably surpass Nightwing. On top of that, Cyclops has been through a lot more than Nightwing and I would love to see how these two clash.

There was a post going around a while ago that basically summed up the difference. Marvel is mortals wanting to be Gods and DC is Gods wanting to be mortals. Of course, it's not dead on 100% accurate for each and every one of their respective characters but it does reflect the over arching vibe of each universe. In my personal opinion, I think it's more poetic and deep to see characters that are powerful enough to end life as we know it, try to assimilate into this fragile little life we have; wanting to have the human experience.

DC is better because the worlds/homes of their heroes are NOT real world locations like Marvel. New York must be the safest city on the planet in the Marvel universe. Which when you think about it, doesn’t even make sense. Because if Marvel was really all about “realism,” then why would they congregate all of their heroes in one city, instead of spreading them out like DC does? It doesn’t make sense. Police officers in real life are spread out all across the country. If they only focused on one city, the entire country would be up in flames. It’s the reason why the Green Lantern Corps has an assigned Lantern to different sectors. What Marvel does is unrealistic and dumb.

X-men have been so diverse with race, sexuality, religion, etc...which creates a more dynamic and colorful cast of characters and storylines. you can't fault charles or erik for their beliefs because they both have truths in them. there are so many X-men characters that have these internal struggles that are not so black and white, and it gives them more depth than most of their marvel counterparts.

I've often thought that the more mythic status of DC could be owed almost entirely to Superman, Wonder Woman and Batman. This is in no way a bad thing. You could easily list positive qualities that are absolutely embodied by those three: Superman - hope, optimism; Wonder Woman - love and compassion; Batman - discipline, determination, etc. I don't know that Marvel heroes have ever been tied to absolute ideals in that same way. Just my thoughts after watching this...

That way, Nightwing can have his movie and Damian can just have a trilogy with Batman brave & bold.

It’s pretty hard for me to choose what I like better between marvel or dc. Because if u were to ask me what my favorite heroes of all time. It goes 1. Batman 2. Spider-Man 3 captain America 4 Superman 5 the flash(Barry) 6 the hulk 7 green lantern(hal Jordan) 8 nightwing/robin(dick) 9 Thor 10 Wonder Woman. As u see based on my list the ranking fluctuates. One minute u see a dc hero over a marvel hero and the next u see a marvel hero over a dc. But if really really really had to choose I would say dc over marvel only because unlike marvel dc have way better side characters that can easily replace the main heroes. With Batman you have nightwing and the rest of the robins along with rest of the bat family and Batman beyond. With Superman you have super girl and super boy. With Wonder Woman you Donna Troy wonder girl. Flash Barry Allen has wally west flash. Hal Jordan green lantern or John Stewart green lantern can eventually later have Kyle rayner green lantern. While marvel really only has peter Parker and miles morales.

As for the one character I would steal from Marvel and put in DC, that would be Spider-Man, because of the fact that he leans more into the fantasy element and has a secret identity like the DC Characters do. So I think Spider-Man would definitely work very well in DC. Maybe even the X-Men, especially Wolverine. You can't kill him and he has a healing power and that's what makes him so interesting.

I've always liked both quite a bit, actually. One point confused me a bit however: DC's universe is less black and white than Marvel's in terms of morality. Is this more of a takeaway from the movies? I never really got that from reading the comics...

I'm a DC fan but honestly Marvel's way is better with superheroes that are actually people and not "living symbols." You can both relate to AND look up to Marvel's heroes but you can only look up to DC heroes and not relate to them. Also I hate how DC heroes are called "Gods" when Wonder Woman is the only one who counts as such and she's a demigod above all things

I think Marvel is too close to home sometimes and i don't want to read about this, i want to read about gods and their adventures, to be inspired to be better and feel that gravitas from the page. Though, i think there are some things from Marvel that i would love if they came to DC, like more iconic villains such as Magneto and Dr. Doom, all the cosmic stuff and the X-Men.
