HÜRJET will compete in the tender opened by Spain to be supplied to replace the F-5 trainer aircraft, According to Aviation Week, it was stated that Spain plans to retire its aging F-5 trainer aircraft.
The Vice President of New Generation Weapon Systems Operations of the Spanish Air Force, Lieutenant Colonel Hugo Garcia Galan, announced that Spain is considering four new systems within the scope of the procurement of new aircraft, one of these systems is the HÜRJET developed by Turkish Aerospace Industries.
Another claim made regarding the tender process is that Spain is positive about the purchase of Hürjet and wants to use the exchange method by taking advantage of the deficit in the Turkish Air Force, therefore Spain can offer Turkey 6 A-400M Military Transport aircraft in exchange for 24 Hürjets.

this is how NATO allies should be. Spain also did not pull back its defense systems from Turkish border with Syria while the other members did.
That's not a trainer aircraft at all, air to ground light attack aircraft. It was goind to be used for jandarma along with Hürkuş-c if i am not wrong.

It is not a good a good deal for Spain, too many A400 for 24 hurjet. How much does the Hurjet really cost? Adjusting the number of units and with total access for Spain to soirce code of the jet, it could become to a good deal for they both countries.

Many in the country agree that the value of the trainer is bloated and the value of the A400 downplayed. Better to keep them, they are polivalent and with will could be converted to other uses ... like palletized missile launchers as pioneered byy the USAF for its C-10 and C-17 cargo planes, being the A400 nearer to the C-17s capabilities. The F-5 is the same as the Talion used by the USAF, it playes the role of an advanced trainer, letting the alumni feel the performance of a real fighter jet. Nowadays we have to add the sensor rich environment of 5th gen and beyond which no trainer could provide, thus the devlopment of the T-X by Boeing-Saab. The Spanish Air Force wanted Airbus Military to consider relaunching the project of the "Mako" advanced trainer, but the government like in other cases and countries imposes on its military forces, adquisition of systems that may not be the preferred by these, but moved by economic, domestic and foreign policy.

I think that Hürjet could be a good solution, thinking in other develpments with Turkish companies. They are also interested in our frigates and submarines (S80 with AIP).
