- Duolingo's advertising got me again! I bought Duolingo's new subscription tier, Duolingo Max, and I enjoyed it a lot but is it worth paying for? In this video, you will learn what features Duolingo Max has to offer you, the subscription pricing, my perspective on its worth, and you will see results from 2 polls that I made asking language learners this same question.

Like they say: "Used Duolingo for two years and still can't hold a conversation with a 4-year old Spanish speaker" 😟😟
That can happen if one doesn’t practice 😥
This is frustrating. Duolingo used to have options to help explain wrong answers. Those disappeared. Now they’re asking for us to upgrade to another plan to get that feature back. Not cool. Maybe I should just go back to Rosetta Stone.
I know right? It is quite crazy. I wish they would have slowed down the process of removing all these features.
How long did you use Rosetta Stone for?
@@spanishblueprints A few months in 2012 & 2013
Sweet, what do you like about Rosetta Stone?
I use Duolingo. And honestly I don’t just use duolingo alone. I changed the subtitles to Spanish on my TV. Changed the Language on my phone. I watch Spanish tv shows. Duolingo is great. I recommend it to anyone. My Spanish is choppy. But if I being honest sometimes I just complete a lesson to keep my streak. Duolingo should not be used without other support
167$ for only 2 extra features is a crazy price, but ai becomes smarter day by day so I guess they are seeing ahead
Very crazy haha! And exactly, AI is so huge and adding that to the business seems like the standard these days that sells to people.
Yep! Remember how Duolingo was 5 years ago compared to now. It’s only getting better in my opinion.
Too pricey for me. Might be interested in a lower priced version- even if it didn’t have as many options.
I agree, lower price all the way would be more worth it.
thanks for the review. i've been using the basic duolingo for many years now. was considering trying out the duolingo max but the $30/month price tag is a little too hefty for me. if they cut the price in half im sure they would more then double the memberships. but oh well.
I am learning French for an upcoming trip. I started out with Duo Super, then upgraded to Max a week or two ago. I am really enjoying it, but will probably go back to Super after the trip, just because of the cost. Duolingo has been the best fit for me, it’s entertaining and since I am not moving to France, I don’t feel like I need to hop back into the hard-core grammar and spelling and conjugations and whatnot that I did in jr high and high school. I just need to be able to get around and recognize basic words and phrases.
Thank you very much for this content dude
My pleasure
I got the free trial and Duolingo Max is NOT worth the price....at all. They should have made it 20 dollars more than the super duolingo
I agree with you. I can make use of the free version of Duolingo easily.
Have you ever paid for a Duolingo subscription before?
@@spanishblueprints Yes I pay for the Super Duolingo just because I hate the ads (they waste a lot of time) and overall it has a smoother feel to it than the free version...at least to me
I won't lie, no ads and unlimited hearts make learning more fun since I get to save more time.
Thanks for this!
I wasn't going to pay that much anyway, but I do appreciate the review!!
You are welcome! It is quite a lot for only 2 more new features than Super Duolingo honestly. Maybe I'd consider paying for it every month if there were at least 6 new features.
Are there any courses that you wouldn't mind paying for?
Well, I pay for Spanishdict.
Is there something more specific that you are referring to when you say courses?@@spanishblueprints
No, that was I meant! Is everything going well with that course?
I'm enjoying it very much! It definitely seems to have a lot all in one place!!
Great!
Thanks for the feedback and your opinion. I’ll save my money .
My pleasure!
What language(s) are you meaning?
@@spanishblueprints Espanol
@@robp9746 fantástico, how is your journey going?
@@spanishblueprints A little slow but hoping to get better. Thank you.
@@robp9746 Nothing wrong with that! De nada
Good video review. Thanks for the information.
You are very welcome!
I probably would buy it. I could use more options for conversation rather than working with people or finding a person to speak with me.
Do you already have many conversations where you live?
@@spanishblueprints Not enough. I have some here and there
Cool, what language(s) are you learning?
@@spanishblueprints Only Spanish. That’s all I have time for.
@@amiyrbarclift1640 I feel yea, its tough trying to learn more than one.
Great review
Thank you! Check out the other review videos I have as well!
It’s says $167 annually but I don’t see a monthly payment option.
It should be available somewhere. Try going into your settings in the app and go to the “subscription” tab
Press view all plans
@@keishaloves1762 thank you for the help!
Love this video! I would like to ask if Duolingo max has limited conversation types on the AI Roleplay? How many role-plays do they have?
I honestly don't remember how many they have! I am sorry. I wish I knew the exact amount.
@@spanishblueprintsthank you🙏🥰
You're welcome!
I wonder if it's a better deal to subscribe to gpt4 to practice language and do other stuff too
Good thinking!
So what do you recommend for people who can't spend a year somewhere to immerse themselves and doesn't have people near them to speak
You can use language exchange applications like HelloTalk or Tandem to connect with native speakers for free. Read, write, consume content in your target language. There are a large amount of ways to immerse yourself from home and not break the bank.
Also, check out the videos on my channel because I share many ways to learn Spanish from home.
What are some of your language goals outside of immersing yourself?
@@spanishblueprints Thank you for this. I was unaware of the free immersion apps. i have tried other "free" immersion options in the past but never got anything with anyone serious. It was always spammers and phishers. Hopefully these two will be different.
My goals are simply to learn the languages and be conversational in them and maintain conversational fluency.
These two apps are legit, you can find a lot of videos of language learners talking about them, articles, etc. I have a video about my experience about HelloTalk as well that you may want to watch to see what it is all about. I started using it in 2020.

Those are great goals. What languages are you learning?
I married a Nicaraguan. That helped! lol

¿Ha suscrito a Duolingo una vez? Súper Duolingo or Duolingo max?
So no discount for super users?
I already paid for super...
Good question, I am not sure. If you could, I'd assume it would show up in the app when trying to upgrade.
And y not just using gpt free version for explanation 😂😂
It’s not worth such amount of money, in my opinion
Good point!
A free option for when u wanna talk to AI to practice is character ai language bots, though it doesn’t give feedback, and doesn’t stay on ur language level, but on a fluent one. But it still kinda works :/
What is is called again? Character Ai language bots? Is that an app or something?
Not worth the price.
Got that right
Getting native friends is bettee and cheaper 😹
I know right?
