    Here it's my notes:
0:23 The Law of Least Effort
"When I'm stuck for one moment, I leave it and do something else. With this method, to work on different things simultaneously, I never encounter any mental blockages."
    -Niklas Luhman
Basically means in the first part, If we're not good enough at focusing on one thing, then it's best to take a break and do something else. As a result of this break, we increase our chances of being more productive when we return to what I was dealing with.
    2:37 Distributed Practice
Reading something in a book goes from short-term memory to long-term memory and two things need to happen for this.
1)Concepts need to be memorable (Which means need to be a naturally interesting subject to learn)
    2)Concepts repeated again and again
In those techniques known Spaced repetition takes time and so...
In this part, he is telling us about "Shortform" apps for book summaries. Giving summary books and saving time...
    5:12 Attack from Multiple Angles
The point I understand here is that if you do extra research on the concepts in the subject -depending on your curiosity- while reading a book, watching a documentary, or doing research, you will get better efficiency and speed up the learning process. And so because there is so much to explore, new connections will form in your brain and this will affect the learning process. I totally agree with this and think it should be done.
7:04 Read Consciously and Deliberately (Important!!)
The point I understand here is that the brain is just like a muscle, as you work on it, it develops, and your learning capacity increases. That's why you should make it a life philosophy and do it continuously, not just for a week, for example. As a result, you will find that it is more useful. Again, an important point here is that we have to deal with whatever we are interested in, otherwise this situation will turn into torture beyond the pleasure of learning and make this process unbearable.
    8:45 Reflection Boosting
When you close the book while reading something, think for 1-2 minutes and test what you read and what you learned from it, what you know before and what you have learned now will be combined, and this will accelerate the learning process. The important point here points to the importance given to thinking. Are you reading a book? After 1-2 pages, close the book and think about what you have learned.
    10:04 Create Searchable Notes
    Take note!
I think taking notes is the majority of this learning. You can speed up this process if you take notes on what you read. Also, having the notes accessible and searchable will make this work even easier. So you will have immediate access to your previous work. Notion is truly a lifesaver, as I use it here.

I wish they taught this is school... It is so ironical they take exams for testing our knowledge but don't tell how to remember and retain that!!!! Thats why many students just learn a particular topic for the exams and then forget after a few days... that is not that useful,is it?

After having a library of over 120 great videos(after filtering) on learning effectively and efficiently from top gurus on productivity and learning like Thomas Frank, u, and Ali Abdaal, this is by far one of the top 10 videos that I would recommend (and I evaluate content objectively btw, so this is not emotional). Keep going man! Just please keep away pictures of girls, cauze sometimes you bring some scenes like that. I am from Sudan, and of course, you know the Islamic countries has reservations on this. So, pleeeeeeeeeeeease do that, because I'm recommending Ali Abdaal and Thomas Frank channels on my Fb, and I do want to recommend your channel(and I have been following it for a fairly long time now, like almost a year) . You are inspiring students and people all around the around to be more productive in their learning and life in general.

Hey Ahmed, thanks so much for the feedback! The fact that you said this video is in your top 10 videos means a lot.
I want my videos to appeal to all my audience - regardless of background, religion, culture, beliefs etc, so I apologise if any of my content has offended you. I'm curious which videos I have included girls? The URL and timestamps would be really helpful - it will help me understand my content more and I can adapt it accordingly.

In the last video about speed learning you mentioned the FAST method in which F stands for Forget which means pretending not to have any knowledge about the subject you are reading, as far as I remember xD, and that sounded logical to me cause this way you will be able to eliminate stereotypes, distractive and non coherent ideas that you might have had, especially when it comes to topics on which you have superficial knwledge..
But now the reflection boosting part is kinda confusing me cause it seems to me that it contradicts all of the above.
Is there a way to utilize both techniques or it is just a different context ?

    • @Hurusio
      @Hurusio 2 года назад

I struggled with this back in the day as well. Try and read something that appeals to you (if you're into business read books on that topic, if it is self-improvement then read those books, if you're interested in stories read more story-based books). If you have to read something that doesn't interest you then still give the book a try and find things that you, yourself, could attempt in real life or use them somehow. You could also set a challenge, like trying to read more and more pages in each reading session or try and get faster each time while still knowing what you read. If you're already doing this, dedicate a certain amount of time to reading each day so that it becomes a routine. If all of those things don't work try giving other practices a chance, like meditation, journaling and just thinking while not doing anything else. Hence, you get your thoughts under control since it's not unusual for people to have low attention spans with the amount of short-form being around.
