Thank you all for 100k views! That’s insane! I’ve read every comment and I hear you, so I thought I’d explain why there’s so much of some content and why some parts seem unrelated to rewind;
This animation was a community collaboration hosted on a Discord server with over 1k users. The prompt for this collab was to simply catch and throw a rewind button. If an animator wanted to make something that didn’t necessarily reference anything, then they were welcome to. I would then chose which entries got into the final product based on quality (and a few other things). The repeated themes/creators featured here I think represent the year really well because it shows what was big this year by how many related entries were in here. You may not like Dream, but he was huge this year. He deserves a spot. You may not like Among Us, but it was a massive game this year. It deserves a spot. Anything in this collab I believe was worth a spot. I don’t like every reference, but even if I didn’t like it I still included it because it had representation in 2020.
Anyways, just thought I would explain. Thanks for those who are really enjoying this! Idk if I will make another next year, but if I do I will take some of your criticisms into mind.
The views are very deserved, and it needs so much more. Thank you for making this project and for introducing me to so many unbelievably talented animators. To every animator in this, you are AMAZING!

All I recognized was piemations, jaiden animations (for like half a second), Michal reeves (the knife table thing), and madness combat. In terms of games I understood most of them.

@@polaknasieci1331 what sucks is growing up nowadays is growing up with horrible mobile games and comedy that not many people get. I wish I grew up in the times where newgrounds was in its prime and there were still songs about beating the devil in a music contest. Only when I got older did I realize that the stuff I’d used before unknowingly was another persons entire childhood.

I have taken every safety precaution to be sure that this video does not get taken down without foul play. I’ve used copyright free songs, every entry is protected under fair use , and the play button isn’t a dangerous work to showcase in content as it’s been shown in thousands of videos at this point (if not more). If this video gets taken down, you can bet your ass I’m rioting lmao

I don't think there are words to describe the sheer amount of effort, hours, and persistence that went into this as whole to make this a reality, or the emotions that came from watching this. Craziest 18 minutes of my life, but I couldn't have spent it better anywhere else ❤️ Hats off to everyone who worked on this, it was beautiful
It’s a good vid and really funny but everything everyone did was incredible, whether it was the smoothness of the animation or even the art style everyone did an incredible job, but i’ll have to come back another time lol it’s 3:37

I love how in the end, the character flipped it from rewind to fast forward, to encourage us to look towards the future.

My parts didn’t get in either (it’s understandable, it didn’t really flow well), the collab was awesome and everyone did an amazing job.

This collab was amazing! Although my animation part didn't make it in, congrats to everyone who did! I had fun drawing the intermission art piece. Thank you Hatena for organizing this collab, you deserve to take a break. 2020 was rough, but lets hope for the best next year. :D

Kind of disappointed that I didn’t make it in the collab (I swear Hatena, one day I’ll get in one of your collabs xd), but to be honest, everyone did phenomenal. Also everyone did a great job at representing just what this year was all about and I can’t wait for the next collab.

THIS is what rewinds should be, dozens of people coming together to create a project with such emotion, thought, and creativity. Each animation had its own vibe, style, fandom/characters, its truly amazing. Everyone who joined the collaboration did an amazing job with everything! This is a wonderful representation of what happened in this crazy year. Despite all of us being apart, we came closer together than ever.
I kinda wished if RUclips let their creators and communities decided on themes, and what was important during year. It would of been like this entire video.

This was so amazing to watch, with everyone having done so well on their animations! I loved how at the end the rewind button was flipped into a fast-forward one, leaning into the fact we can now look to this next upcoming year. It was a nice touch!

5-minutes in & I can't say how much I adore this vid's message of how the RUclips Animation community is treating the play button the same way RUclips has treated them.
I'm just hoping this gets traction & this issue gets brought up seriously to RUclips, 'cause it's such a shame animators don't get the love they deserve on this platform.

Everything that happens now becomes history. Always... look ahead to the future, and be happy that each year creates new unique events.
