The moment where she talks about scents and her boyfriend asks “are you okay?”. Small moments of humor like that, with Dami. Although they’re subtle, when they show up they land as the most hilarious thing to me.
This is just spectacular. It wraps the left brain, with all of its crisp analytical ideas and methods, around the right brain that makes us wholly _human_ . Let's face it - we're all attracted to beauty. It moves us. And when we can create a space for ourselves that is just frankly _beautiful_ as well as functional, it feels complete. It draws us into a good place. Huge thanks for sharing this. Cheers! John
3:57 Really like that lighting idea. Muslanda shelves from ikea cutting them to size and aligning the perimeter of the room to the height of the bulkhead it's lined with led strips
I just love how elegant and realistic your setup is. I feel nowadays setups are getting more into a showoff contest than what actually works for whoever is making it. also hearing the word "saving" for a better chair is warming my heart :) strangely enough :))
I've been using the same gaming chair for almost 7 years now, all the fake plastic has fallen off yet I still use it because it works lmao now THAT's saving!
because the skill is in making it futureproof, aesthetic and productive, this is nasty and maybe gets her work done for now. "saving" for a better chair is cringe because this is youtube content :) this should show the final result not the part 1 of 80 :))
There's something about Dami's voice and delivery and word choice and diction and word emphasis and facial expressions and hand motions and body language and attitude that totally gets me. What she talks about is pretty interesting as well, (which is key because I wouldn't watch these videos if it wasn't interesting.)
Preparing a home office can be a very fascinating process, taking into account that it's the space in which the professional life of each person will take place. There are elements that can be very inspiring to work with, such as the color palette, the lighting, and some valuable resources such as scented candles. For me, the importance of furniture is the most relevant. I have a Protractor desk that I bought at Barcelona Designs, and from the first moment I saw it I knew it was the kind of desk I wanted to sit at on a daily basis. A very nice process.
Nice setup. With matching desks and chairs it would make more sense to put Both in the middle of the room. You lose space to move, but you get more private space, double actually.
Would highly recommend the Herman Miller Mirra 2 chairs. I got mine 2nd hand in Vancouver from an office liquidator store and have no regretted it since. No more back pains for me. Not going to lie, the chair was still somewhat expensive, but if you do the math, you'll probably own the chair for 10-15 years which is cheaper than buying a new chair every couple of years. I've learned that you either buy nice or you buy twice in some scenarios. Plus, I viewed the chair as a health investment on my back.
Chair: Steelcase Think chair. I've been using one for years and recommend it. Also, it's easy to get a used one. One thing: don't get one with fixed arms, they're a hard plastic and really uncomfortable.
I love make overs that are approachable, it’s almost unreal to see million dollar listings makeovers that most people can’t relate. Loved when you talked about integrating smell in our designs, never thought of that. Great video!
As an Architect, I also learned a lot from Interior Designers when I was working with a hotel project's fitout. I now find shopping for furniture, fabric and decor enjoyable which were mundane to me before.
I just got a standing desk off of Facebook marketplace for 100$. Always look there for any item you want for a very reduced price. Sometimes people give things for free as well. It’s a great way to get a good at home office setup for a low cost
by far the best thing I think that can be done in interior design is choosing the paint color. I paint fast and well but just hate the colors I choose. For one room once I choose and threw out 5 gallons of paint before I got a color that was tolerable. Now I have a house with a ridiculous myriad of colors that the previous owner/builders chose (including a hideous green). Simply repainting would make this place fabulous but I am dead frozen at how to choose.
I think I’m going to copy your MOSSLANDA tip. I’ve been thinking lately about how to light up the ceiling of my dark basement office in a neat way, and this could work.
I like how the depth is shallower than the standard shelves so it's not too imposing in the space. There's a slimmer profile than the Mosslanda as well (I think made of metal) - it didn't suit my space but you should check out that one as well!
Absolutely beautiful design! One thing I would mention when choosing the chairs is a bigger focus on ergonomics and comfort. The HM Aeron is a classic as is the Embody, but don't overlook brands like Steelcase and Humanscale. I have been using a Leap V2 now for a few years after discovering its armrest features. It's been an absolute game changer for typing, mousing and drawing with its almost infinite adjustability. They also make a model called the gesture with even more options. Like both of you I was pretty sticker shocked by the cost of these... but there are plenty of shops that do large buyouts from corporate offices and refurbish/fully sanitize the chairs and sell them for 25-50% of the cost! I highly recommend looking into this, as my Leap V2 was in like new condition and cost me $400 CAD instead of $1200+
i love the way you conceptualize thespace & solving the imperfection of existing room condition! the urge to re-arrange my working space after watching this video📈📈📈📈📈
The room is overall natural, relaxing, but the small window still bring me the a pretty unpleased feeling. Personally I prefer bigger window without fences. Anyway love the way you prepare and present in the video.
I enjoyed this video. I have a work office that I’ve arranged and rearranged to fit my need for privacy in a busy welcome center, yet be available to staff. I also wanted my space to be comfortable as I spend a lot of time at my desk when I’m not outdoors working. Thank you for your inspiration
When you are looking for task chairs, I would suggest you look at the Steelcase Leap. You can go to any Steelcase dealer in your local area to sit on one. Another suggestion is the Steelcase Gesture, which is a similar concept, but with a more modern look. Both chairs are pricey, but if you sit for any length of time during your workday, you won't regret how adjustable, ergonomic, and comfortable they are.
Great topic! Enjoyed this. The cove effect achieved by illuminating the Mosslanda shelves totally transforms the space with the illusion of height and natural daylight. You both balanced the space exceptionally well!
Herman Miller Embody in white would look 👌 IMO it's more comfortable than the Aeron as well (more lower back support). The adjustable bottom makes it fit more body types.
You can often find used steelcase leap chairs for 300-500 CAD at office furniture resellers. I have found them to be fantastic. I think the herman miller aeron can be found used for about the same price (used).
pretty much good concept, i like that, & impotent thing is like you said - you was a little bit skeptical in the beginning ? that's true The harder it seems at first, the easier it becomes later ..Nothing is impossible if there is effort 😊
I think the video conferencing use-case, could be solved by putting a retractable white photography backdrop about half way between the desks, creating an illusion of the space being reasonably empty or unshared. When not needed, you just roll it back up and out of the way.
I really appreciate how you conceived your workspace. I need to do an overhaul of mine, it's given me some ideas on how to approach this task. I don't strictly do digital work, so I love the ideas about ways to manage things like books and art supplies.
Try the Chair One (Magis / Designer: Konstantin Grcic) ! I'm architect based in Paris and this chair is great for your eyes as well as your back ... the 5 pods one, not the concrete foot one ;-) ... and tell me.
the way u decorate ur own room make me feel like i have to study interior design right now!!! bcause it's such a wonderful room that i've ever seen (cause i love green and ur room has one of my favorite green too!!!)
If you are looking for good furniture check VARIER. The stool is incredible and for your desk that moves it can be the element. The chairs are amazing too but too short maybe.
Some shutters on the window can double as a chalk board if you paint the back and also save you a bit on heating in the winter. I love all your indirect and colour temperature controllable lighting.
The chair I see is a mix of leather and wood. The leather is minimally there to comfortably support you. But the main look would be the nice wood. A bit modern and futuristic. The tone and color options between the wood and leather are awesome. Also the shape is more of an armchair vibe. Wide. Almost like a pod? Does it need wheel? Stationary makes it feel like vehicle. I don’t know. I’m just shooting from the hip here
I realy love what you did with the place. Yor way of explaining your choices is captivating. I will be mooving soon so i make sure i go trough similiar proces to make my new place realy "home". Nice video. :)
Thank you so much for sharing this video with us. It is truly inspiring and inspirational to push not only me, but also others to make something out of our lives and find meaningful purpose. Thank you again for sharing your journey and experience and wishing you the best.
OMG this is sick. The way you set up the flow of the video rules. (Also yes, you are allowed to make fun of moodboards. They work, but they're also hilarious.)
Highly recommend Okamura Contessa2. The biggest advantage over HM’s Aeron is its easiness to adjustments. The adjustment switches are all smartly located in both handrests. I have both models and they are equally comfortable.
Have you decided on which office chairs you're gonna go with? I think the Steel Case Gesture Chairs would look great and provide the comfort youd need for long hours of sitting. I personally use a Herman Miller Celle that's attractive, maybe not as attractive as the Aeron or other newer chairs, but it's inexpensive and is very very comfortable.
The Haworth Fern is a great chair. It’s right up there with the Herman Miller Embody, Steelcase Gesture and Steelcase Leap…along with the Steelcase Amia. Otherwise, my budget pick would be a used Herman Miller Sayl. All are comfortable and stylish chairs.
@@DamiLeeArch You're welcome! I would totally recommend going to a shop to try them out though. Well worth your time. I actually found a Herman Miller Sayl nearby that only costs a fraction of the price... though with new you can't be a 12 year warranty for any of those... Each have "flaws" or niggles, but also good return policies new. Almost all those chairs are built like tanks though, so secondhand is not a bad route.
What a beautiful and relaxing, yet energetic space! Wow! I subscribed after seeing this video! As for a chair, i think a beautiful Herman Miller would be great for the space. I also love their design (but that's personal of course.)
The moment where she talks about scents and her boyfriend asks “are you okay?”. Small moments of humor like that, with Dami. Although they’re subtle, when they show up they land as the most hilarious thing to me.
Very nice rooms now. Well, you don't have to be depressed anymore.

Herman Miller Embody Chair changed my life. Not cheap but a good value. I've had mine for 10 years

I always got curious in ur work home setup as an architect. Finally I can see your home office room tour
Hope it was interesting 😄
Yessss. Feel the same
@@DamiLeeArch its clean and soothing to the eye especially your colour pallete😊 I pick up new idea in creating mood board. Thanks for this video.

The video, the home office and the architect's speech. Everything was very inspiring.
I honestly think that gamer chairs work really good for work from home, secret labs or DXR Racer chairs have been great for comfort and posture.
I can't recommend the Herman Miller Cosm chairs enough! They are incredible comfortable to sit in and look really modern and sleek in my opinion.
I don't care about anything else.
I WANT THAT LITTLE FOX.
Love the aesthetic, personal, and practical applications of everything in the space! This is cool to see

I've always been skeptical of mood boards but your one video has changed my mind. I get it now. :) ty!
Get the Herman Miller Embody, Aeron or Sayl 👌
I love the Embody, my wife loves the Aeron and Sayl .. You really can't go wrong with any of them!
I love the "simpleness" (?) of everything? Also, I like your calm, I can see it in your decor and hear it in your voice.

Scented candles (or just utilizing smells in general) are soooo underrated!
Herman Miller Embody in white would look 👌
IMO it's more comfortable than the Aeron as well (more lower back support). The adjustable bottom makes it fit more body types.
Hahahaha “are you ok”. Nice one. The IKEA wall organization is an awesome idea. I’m gunna look those up.
