Great job on this! Just came over from HLC & subbed. I've been hooked on Gundam models and have a SRT Viper kit to build soon, but im planning on a P-51 Mustang soon enough. Love your attention to detail!
Awesome!!! Gundam (and Zoids, if you are familiar at all) are my original background, I've been doing those for decades with this sort of modeling on and off up until '17 when I kinda just leaped back in to it all. Hoping here soon to get more Gunpla content on the channel in the future, so keep an eye out!
Amazing job. I remember spending hours and hours with model building as a kid and sucks I lost that. May have to pick up a beginners one again and give it a go. Tip of the hat
Masking fluid is a great option if you want to do 1:1 pattern recreation. I use it on my miniatures and fishing lures. Also, I came over from Habitual Line Crosser's video. You do good work!
Yeah, my biggest hesitation, which I forgot to include in the voice-over there, was that masking can leave a very sharp line between the colors, and there's a softer transition of color on the real stuff, so I wasn't sure. Kept flipping back and forth on it the whole build, but by the time I got to that step, I was getting so PO'ed at the stupid moisture trap stuff that I wound up choosing the easier route :/
@@fenrismodels that actually makes a lot of sense. Thanks for sharing your thought process on it. I've never really thought about the sharp lines it leaves, since I mainly use it on lures, and the entire thing ends up getting dunked in an acrylic clearcoat
There are ways to soften the line too, but I've never really used masking fluid before so I've never looked deep into it. Maybe I'll do so for my next one, actually, that sounds like a fun experiment!
Funnily enough, I just decided to do an F-22 myself, though I went for the Italeri 1/38th scale kit. I - like you - really like the inclusion of the clear parts in the Academy kit, it gives another set of interesting display possibilities
Haha nice!!! Did the Italeri also come with some clear parts? I really like that touch for closed weapon bays, I hope that manufacturers moving forward will start to include them more on applicable subjects.
Thanks! Again, the colors aren't *perfect*, but to be honest I think it's a bit hard when you consider that this plane IRL has that special stealth coat paint stuff on it anyway. As I say, close enough is good enough.
Haha I might have to do that to one in the future! The included decals were all Cartograf, so they went on pretty nicely. Didn't have much trouble with them at all!
@@fenrismodels ah so they must have changed decal company....havent bought an academy kit for quite sometime but the few i have done had horrible decals but as i say its been a few years
@@jaws666 It also depends on when the kit was printed rather than tooled. Academy has done Cartograf on and off through the years, and sometimes even go back and get Cartograf to redo decals for older toolings. Moreso than a lot of other companies, I've always felt Academy can be extremely hit or miss. One kit they're great, on par or better than Tamiya or Eduard, then the next I'd take the Revell or even the Mistercraft offering. Luckily, this F-22A is of the former and not the latter.
@@fenrismodels thats true i suppose but i have had a dud or 2 from Revel aswell....the 3 Academy kits i have done were fine in and of themselves but the decals let them down
Haha you'd be amazed at how much modeling can help shaky hands. It's often used as therapy for that very reason, believe it or not!!!! I think I may have missed HLC opening it, but I did see some French maid catgirl soldier do so... guess it got intercepted somehow.... :P
You know, I had a similar fever dream earlier today, I think? Had a pup in the background and kept saying something about wanting to get intercepted or something? Haha thanks for stopping in all the same! Hope you enjoy the video!
In 1998, I would have given an arm, a leg, and both of my neighbour's lungs for one of these! (mind you, I didn't care for my neighbour all that much in 1998...)
@@fenrismodels Whichever one was more readily available; in those days, I could no more find one than the other. Either one would have been fine with me...!
Funnily enough today I received my F-35B made by Cobi Lego so should be an interesting build compared to my F-22A that I received 6 months back from a fellow enthusiast of Lego Kits.
@fenrismodels yup. Watching your other vids. I used to run a model painting business for table top minis and love to see people getting into the hobby of building and painting models. Good on ya!
VERY nice!!! I used to do Warhammer 40k, BattleTech, and Heavy Gear in the past, but truth be told my main reason for playing those games was I had an excuse to paint haha! I'm not great at those games >.>'
Really well done - bravo and thanks for sharing. Popped over from the "French Maid" channel also and subbed - Thanks.
Thank you so very much!!!! I am glad you enjoyed it, I think the F-22 was one of the best I've done and I hope it shows through ^___^

We just seen who you sent it to..... VERY VERY COOL to do it for him...... LET ME F--ING EAT.... HINT HINT...
XDXDXD I *REALLY* wanted to send a small model of some Chinese food to go with it, but I just couldn't really find any sadly.
Came over from Hlc and your models are amazing!
Thanks! I'm very happy you like them!!!

I def recommend giving it another go! I may be a little biased, but I find it to be quite enjoyable lolol

I'd intercept that beauty. 🙂

How was the canopy? Does it fit well with the cockpit?
It did, it fit very well! Didn't have any issues whatsoever with getting it in place, and no gap problems to speak of!

Just watched HLC unboxing.
Nice! I hope you enjoyed the build video, HLC is such an awesome guy I hope I did the model justice for both him, and the F-22.

Here because some line crosser.
