Justin, your wife is a lovely, endearing sweetheart!!!! She will continue to get better because her family needs her and she brings sunshine on the darkest days!!!! And blessedness to all every day!!
I'm just now watching this. I wish I could reach out and give your wife a warm supportive hug. She isn't alone in her feelings. Anxiety is a horrible thing to deal with. Thank you for being her rock!
Justin, I nearly cried watching you and your son working together. What wonderful memories you two are creating. Beautiful Beautiful… Thinking about the days, when he is in his 30's or 40's having these videos to go back and see you and him, side by side, with his loving and caring father. He will think about all the hard work, but will remember more, I wish we could go back and do it all over again.. Thank you for sharing and capturing such wonderful moments of you two. I also wish your wife well, ( my 29 yr old suffers from many of the same symptoms),and the rest of your family. Looking forward to your future videos.
I watched a few of your other vids, and then saw this new one< OMG i want to walk out of my office and lock the door and never come back. I;m now on Zillow looking for land. I think I'm going to retire early and just live off the land. Dam your doing it with four kids and a sick wife, shes such a trooper. I have already seen such great ideas, I'm going crazy in this office! WHOS with me.????
I'm with you! I've got the land! I just need extra hands on my place! I have 6 acres two barns two horses 4 cats and two dogs! My kids are grown and gone and couldn't wait to get out of the country! So sad! Their father sadly was a city slicker and couldn't get into country living, so 25 years ago he stayed in the city and I moved out here to live my dream! I love it! What an inspirational movie! 2019 focus and organization, love it!
This vid actually brought tears to my eyes. Jonah has grow up so much. And your relationship is so good. He's a great kid. And I must say his love for tools reminds me of myself. Well done in raising some wonderful kids.
This video is such a huge inspiration and especially your wife because I went through a phase where I was having anxiety attacks with three young children. All I think about is starting my own farm. Thank you.
I just can’t believe the way Josiah grew this year! I would really like to see an episode about him. How he feels about growing up homesteading, his loves and his dislikes, his dreams- does he want to be a homesteader, or is he looking to become a farm vet? He is an amazing child! With a good dash of Justin’s charisma and a heavy dollop of Beauty’s love. You are simply an amazing family! My favorite family to watch. I truly love the snapshot of you guys, and I am so glad you’ve chosen to share it with us! May your beauty find better health, Justin find the best ways to grow your family and homestead, and your children continue to find the joy in a simple life full of love, and growth. Bless you all. Much love to you and yours!
I love how Lily just jumps right in and handled what needed to be handled. No mess no fuss, just done. Lol Love it when things come together. Glad your journey has been so blessed and grown in abundance of knowledge and understanding. Big hugs, and beautiful healing blessings sent to you, Rebecca. Nothing is ever a loss when you learn from the mistakes. Great video!
Hello Rhodes family I am in my 50's now and starting my homestead on a little less than a acer of land. You have inspired me to do this to help in getting healthier. Wish I had started many years ago. But at least I'm working in the right direction. Thanks for all the great videos.
Donnie - my husband and I started our new homestead from scratch - bare land, 10 acres. 1st year, buy the land, 2nd year, put in the power/well & build the shop, loafing shed and plant 300 chokecherry, currant, nanking cherry, chokecherry & our potato garden, 3rd year, pour the basement foundation for the house & start building, build bigger garden area; 4th year, finished the house & moved in, built chicken/greenhouse, planted 10 apple trees. We are both in our 60's. JUST DO IT! We are LOVING LIFE! :) Can't wait to see what 2019 brings to us!
Awesome! Where y'all live? My family is in Beijing and I'd love to get back home and do this style of living. I have a small 3 acre plot in west Tennessee and am fully in the dark about what to do... Did you guys make video for your 4 year project?
I think there is one more thing you should add to your list of things you made happen in 2018. The encouragement of so many other homesteaders and inspiring people to start homesteading. I know the moment I am able to get my own piece of land I will be starting my journey of homesteading and growing my own food for my family and friends. So much love sent your way because you don't just do the homesteading for you and your family but also for the rest of us. Thank you so much. I am so grateful for your channel. I have learned so much from watching your journey in learning. I can't wait to see you and your family in 2019. I wish you so much happiness and success in the years to come. Happy New Year!!!
Toni Franklin, even if you live in town currently, you can start learning with planting to help get techniques down and learn about the plants you want and get a knack for them first (then that way it wont be so overwhelming, when you try to start everything from scratch... Not sure if you are new to gardening and everything or not... Hope this is a helpful hint). This is what im doing till we can get a bigger piece of land and expand.
@@mammabear8207 I am a long time gardener. I went from FL gardening to ID Gardening. Big difference but I adapted very quickly. I am looking for a property in the SE what I call the Goldie locks zone of the US. You know AK, NC, an TN. Not to much snow Not to much heat. A decent length growing season but a break in the winter for plenty of canning an culling animals. I figured of I could find a fair priced piece of land with a good amount of mature trees I could pull my camper in and start building my dream home an clear out land with the help of goats and pigs. Of course it will depend on many factors how that all works out. Your advice is always greatly appreciated.
@@kailesancez sounds awesome! I know its a ways away (and I sure wouldn't choose it over TN) but I tell ya IL has some BLACK dirt! We go there once a month and I have considered tossing some in the back of my van! Lol I pray you find your perfect piece of land and everything falls into place!
@@mammabear8207 Thank you. I have been putting feelers out there. I have close friends that live in TN. But property has gotten expensive in TN. They keep trying to get me to move there. However unless I can find an affordable piece of land. I wont be able to. :( I love the mountains there.
It's been such a pleasure to watch all your progress every day. I am a young farmer currently living alone on 10 acres. I recently got a bull and heifer to go along with the ducks, sheep chickens and pigs!! You guys keep me believing in a family dynamic I would love to have!! Keep it up!!! Good luck on the year ahead!
I feel your wife's pain at the start of the video. As someone that suffers from horrible depression and anxiety without meds i know how she feels! It's exhausting just to try to fight it!
I've laughed, I've cried...smiled and went through every emotion watching this. I adored seeing your little ones so anxious to help and learn. What a sweet journey in spite of everything. This has been a perfect picture of life. One of the sweetest moments was seeing father and son walking hand in hand. Y'all are such a blessing. Love and prayers for health and abundance this year and always!
"Training up children in the way they should go"... Really LOVE how you 'family'... especially love how the 'chillins' are so enthusiastic. Lily's adorable to watch!... no shrinking violet there! Praying for the "Beautiful One" to continue in healing... indeed a Beauty! Thankful she's got such a great, understanding husband in Justin. Love you all!
Aloha from Hawaii Justin love your channels and your family all glory to God for healing your father and your wife be anxious for nothing but in everything with prayer and supplication and a grateful heart give glory to God aloha
Out of the 100+ RUclips channels I watch you have become my favorite! Your amazing editing and filming skills and the ability to make your viewers feel like part of the family always makes me excited for the next video. Thanks and Good Job Justin and family!
So often when we make a declaration the enemy sees it as a target. Aka, healing. I am blessed how you are persevering and healing in spite of the attacks. I am praying for Gods wisdom and continued healing for you. And blanketing your next year in prayer for your plans that God will prosper you. Thank you for being brave and speaking your plans, working, teaching, living your life in front of the camera. And most of all thank you for inspiring others. Your are a BLESSING.
plant some fruiting trees too, a few different type of apple, cherry, peach, plum, pear, grape vines etc... There are tons of cold climate fruit trees you can plant, plus you can plant some nut trees too. if you have an acre or 2 available, plant your own hay to offset that cost, you can get 2 to 3 cuttings on it depending on your climate. And did you ever find out what was wrong with the goats?
Awww Beautiful momma, panic attacks are the worst. They are anx they give you anx, they keep you feeling insecure. No worries. Everybody supports and loves you. New year, new days. You in faith pray for complete healing And then say. .thank you
A few years ago while in the Navy I got sick. For years my doctors told me I had all sorts of things wrong with me. My labs were crazy and I was panicking. They never could tell me what was wrong. Finally a doctor told me just to live like I wasn't sick. I did and I can say that I feel great! The mind is extremely powerful and when I thought I was sick my labs were a mess, but when I convinced myself I wasn't sick my labs all went back to normal. I am not sure what is happening to Rebecca, but I truly believe that my sickness was made worse by me constantly thinking about it.
The mind is powerful we don't really understand the power of the mind over the body. Most people who recover from serious diseases have a positive outlook.
I so agree with this.I am a Nurse and fell into the Dr.Trap myself.I have a wonderful Dr. BUT I also know they will keep you coming back time after time.I got off all the meds-stopped going to Drs. and I feel great.I read the book-Power of you sub conscious mind by moody and it changed my life-for the better.
Watched this in morning frm new zealand, love watch u with ur family inspiring through good an tough times. The love for ur wife was touch brought tears to my eye as did ur moments of gratitude. Thank you for sharing and wish u all many blessings in 2019
I am 57 and I am going to start my homestead on 5 acres here in New Mexico. Please give me some really big prayers. lol I used to work for RID and give water to the farmers in sunny hot Az. I had a little farm and I loved it. Then my parents needed me here in NM. They are both gone now. The hardest 4 years of my life. Anyway just sharing a little bit. You have done such a great job. I am so hugging your wife in my prayers. She will pull through whatever it is that has made her feel not so good. She is strong and she has her family there with her. Happy 2019, I am looking forward to learning more from you and it is going to be a great year. Hugs and blessings to you.
@@AngelaGomez-ji7nf I am surrounded by farmland. They grow chilies, onions, cotton, and other crops. My Papa grew cantaloupes and watermelons for years in Las Cruses.
it's not the Years, it's the Mileage, Prayres and Blessings my friend best of luck on your adventure, it is written that "Line upon line, Precept upon Precept, you shall come to understanding" and induring unto the end, you shall succeed.

Thank you. This was completely amazing. I had ulcerated colitis and chrons disease. I was able to overcome both naturally. Doctors once wanted to give me a colostemey bag. I didn't do it. Now I've not been hospitalized since 2005. I'm better do to the natural steps I took. You inspire me To keep going.
Your family is so so precious! I love your kids and how they are all about having animals. Your eldest son is a take charge guy :) Also, it is particularly special and priceless that your wife is real about her feelings and reactions. There is no greater gift that a person so authentic! I also have Hashimoto's. It is no joke and a lot of hard times until proper treatment removes most symptoms. I am currently on Natural Dissected Thyroid, not Synthroid. Best of wishes and hopes and prayers for your family and animals ! Keep up the videos. Very awesome!
I have a strong hunch your wife might have Lyme disease. I was initially tested for it but it came back negative (it's easy these days to have false negatives in testing). I've had Hashimoto's since 2013, and for these 6 years I was only properly diagnosed this year. I had big gut issues (despite having the best diet ever)--this is because no matter what you do for diet, Lyme disease is pathogenic; it's a series of infections. One of the bacterium actually *eats* the epithelial lining of the intestines and over time destroys your ability to digest things. I had HUGE neurological, emotional, and psychological issues as well--this is because bacteria in Lyme actually eat brain and CNS tissue (my personality changed, I had memory issues, and trouble thinking or "brain fog"). Anxiety skyrocketed. My heart rate was affected (certain bacterium inflame pericardial tissue and can cause arrhythmia/tachycardia). I know your wife may feel she's a the mercy of her hormones and immune system, but 99% of the time with autoimmune disease there's underlying infection(s). She may also be told to work on her mental and emotional faculties, but please do explore testing. A great way to test is through applied meridian kinesiology for response to antigen exposure. My doctor uses reflexology and the Traditional Chinese Medicine meridian system to check organs and organ networks that are affected, lets me sniff into a tube of various species, and takes note of my visceral bodily response. Lyme pathogens can enter any organ tissue or network and wreak havoc at the immune system and endocrine levels. So when we fight a chronic, systemic infection(s), we must set ourselves on a long-term course for total remission. This means to kill every last infection. Anyways, I feel immensely compelled to share this with you. I hope you do read this comment and take this to heart. Don't give up. Answers (and even better: real, tenable solutions that yield results) come and may take years. I know how hard it is and how it can shake every aspect of life to its core (your body, mind, emotions, spirituality, etc.). I truly wish you the best and thank you for sharing what you share to do what you do that's bigger than you.
A friend of mine was actually diagnosed and "lived with" Lupus for 5 years. She FINALLY got a Dr. to listen to her and test her for Lyme Disease again and it came back positive. She's being treated for that currently and already feeling so much better than she did when she was being treated for the supposed Lupus. Which to me it's crazy because Lupus is also very hard to diagnose and usually the LAST thing a Dr. will diagnose you with because of that.
fujiyokocookiecutter We have 2 close friends whose Lyme was initially misdiagnosed, and suffer from serious cognitive, emotional, energy, and other issues because of it. Definitely check it out.
Mold is definitely dangerous, and co-morbid with Lyme's. Some of the research I have seen suggests that if you have chronic Lyme's that doesn't respond to treatment you have ongoing mold toxicity. The nasty little spirochete eats the mold toxins.
I agree with this. Lyme can be passed to your spouse and given to your children at birth, and she mentioned Justin had Lyme. So that makes perfect sense.
Happy New Year to the Rhodes homesteaders and I think 2019 will be your biggest year yet. We will continue to pray for your success and for your Dad and Rebecca. Thank you for letting us be part of your journey, we love it!
It has taken me a long time with similar issues. I pray you will continue to heal. It isn’t easy, but look for each good thing that happens and find joy in smaller increments. Blessings to you.
2018 was a very hard year for my health too, I am still recovering going into 2019, I know just how difficult anxiety and the waiting and not knowing is, you have to know that you have been a great inspiration and I wish you a better year ahead 🦋🌺🌷🌼
WHO.... DISLIKES THIS? seriously? Justin, sorry I'm late to the game watching this but I find so much inspiration watching your videos! Thank you and God bless! Hope 2019 goes amazing for you and yours!
Wow, you accomplished so much in a such a short amount of time. I haven't looked at your background, did you have homesteading/farming experience prior to this? I am a North Carolina homesteader. We started out 7 years ago with some chickens and a small garden and we've now grown to almost fully self-sustaining farm to provide my family with poultry, pork, eggs, goat milk and produce. In the coming years we are adding mushrooms, honey and beef to our farm. I often think that if we had tried to take on all we do now at once, I would have become overwhelmed, but growing slowly has giving us the time to adjust to the growing demands. I must also add that it's just myself and my husband, we are not young and we also both have full time jobs away from the home. Great job and thank you for sharing your journey as well as raising a new generation that can love and carry on this type of lifestyle.
I have been watching y’all for about a year and you are truly an inspiration to all farmers/homesteaders. Because of you, I have begun to grow my own food as to allow me and my family to get back into the roots of our history. I hope you guys have a great 2019 and keep up the good work!
“It's a dangerous business, Frodo, going out your door. You step onto the road, and if you don't keep your feet, there's no knowing where you might be swept off to.” ― J.R.R. Tolkien, The Lord of the Rings Stay strong, honest and resolute in your journey. Exercise, plenty of water, sleep, nutrition and nature are the best cures for any anxiety and depression... Cheers.
I love that ya'll are so courageous and open about the bad as well as the good... Homesteading is understandably tough and to show a bunch of strangers your weaknesses as well as your strengths is refreshingly honest. I hope that 2019 is all that we ALL need it to be..
Excellent none built up description of how to start and build a self sufficient system. Hats off to the Rhodes Family and all that helped in this community. We are joining your ranks this coming summer. We lived 12 years off the grid on almost nothing and can't wait after 10 years to do this again, Great inspirational video TY.
thats life my man, I really like how u like the nature and how u respect the traditional farm system, u live like a amazing man u have all my respect!.
Thank you for being you, you are a great husband, father and son. The inspiration of this movement of homesteading from you and like minded folks is a positive thing. Love to see you have wonderful children that are not sitting in front of a square box babysitter. I pray for your family your dad and your future one day we may meet I’d like to shake your hand. Good luck in your future keep up the hard work it’s worth it.
I laughed and cried a little , and cheered thru this video. What a great review and y’all had one heck of a 2018. I’m very thankful for you Justin and Rebecca. You are outstanding. You’ve given such a gift to your kids. They’ll excel and surpass you. It’ll be amazing to see what they do as farmers, business owners, and parents. I thank God for all.
I got on the bus about half way through the great American farm tour, and it’s been a magnificent, heartwarming journey ever since. Thanks for making space for us in your lives. 🤗😇👨🌾🐥😎
I love seeing everyone's year in review. We have been thinking back over everything we have achieved in the year, and it really makes you proud to look back at all the work. And excited for everything to get achieved in 2019!
Best year in review ever!! Thanks for the new comers to sum it all up in one video and blessings to your wife... I feel she is sharing what a lot of us struggle with 😊
2018 has been a beautiful, passionate and emotional rollercoaster. I hope you and your family never forget all the lives you have illuminated and changed for the better. Here's to a focused and organized 2019 🍻
God Bless. You guys are so inspiring. I watch your videos with my wife and daughters regularly. We are looking for a piece of property to start our own adventures. Thank you for all the positivity.
It is my dream to accomplish what you have done. Living off the land away from the city. I clicked the link I’m watching your intro course. I have taken many horticulture classes in school. Permaculture is so fascinating and what I have been looking to learn next. I’m loving all of the knowledge and experience. I hope you see this because I’m so grateful. This will help me so much in years to come. It’s one thing to be thought from a book and a whole different story when you live it. Thank you for inspiring so many people to live the way we should be.
Brother you and your family are soldiers! Thanks and praises for letting us in on your adventure and your passion. My family and I just came off the road from a 6 yr journey of Faith and met a lot of beautiful people like yourselves and experienced various communities and gleaned several ideas to put to use ourselves. We now have been blessed with an old farm that we rent and are ready to get to it. I currently drive truck as a means to invest in what we need to set ourselves up for full time homesteading...hopefully soon...we miss each other ..but the sacrifice now will pay off...thanks for inspiration and motivation...how is the Aussie doin? My experience is kids can not run around them...we now raise German shepherds..perfect fit..
It's hard to keep the focus and intention when there is so much tugging at our "appetites" and it's your videos and those who are like minded like Holler Homestead that keep me focused on why I'm out here...we decided to use our income tax for down payment vs renting..we feel renting will only limit us in the long run..blessings and healing towards you and wholeness to your wife.
I just found this channel and have enjoyed your video! I love what your doing! Your family is just as sweet as can be! My heart goes out to Rebecca and her journey to health. We should all do what we need to to heal our bodies. I am going to gently suggest a few things but by no means do I mean to be ugly. I suffered from panic for a season and anxiety for a lifetime. Out of desperation (because I'm not a big meds girl for myself, but not totally against it) I sought out so many areas of my life as to the causes ( mind, body, spirit stuff). What I found was healing by means of relaxation of the mind (cognitive therapy), meditation ( on the positive things in life) yoga for relaxation through stretching (you can also do Pilates), massage, Epson salt bath and the biggest thing was diet. I am not vegan (in the sense of animal cruelty stuff but for healing for a season). I tried a whole foods plant based diet for a season and it did help with mental clarity and eliminated panic attacks and most of the anxiety. I only suggest this because I feel for you. I think of it like a moment in time to let the gut rest. I will give the link here if you would like to check it out. I currently am eating all foods but have cleaned my diet up a lot. It helped determine some food allergies as well. Wishing you all the best life has to offer! Blessings The Dr S name is John McDougall. You can find a lot of info (I do not believe everything on this sure but found it a useful tool) on his main site www.drjohnmcdougall.com Here is a video on leaky gut/auto immune disorder Go to RUclips titled How autoimmune disease forms by Dr John McDougall
HAPPY NEW YEAR. I took your advice and just planted. I had so much shade in my back yard I could no longer grow tomatoes. I had lots of sun in our front yard so I planted 3 tomato plants and ended up with enough tomato’s to can. (Oh by the way I’m 78yrs old and took advice from a 30 something yr. old.)
A very Happy, Healthy and Prosperous New Year to you all. Thank you all so much for your videos, you guys are an insepration to the world. Many blessings and Much Love from North London UK. xxx
And man leaky gut- us too!!! So hard to stay focused on NOT eating certain things. We became allergic to almonds and EGGS!!!! oh my precious eggs how much I miss them... we’d totally have chickens on our property... Would love to join you on your journey towards a healthy gut. God bless you guys. Our family loves watching you all together. Hugs!
I thoroughly enjoyed this video diary - As an Englishman I appreciate the work you have all put in as a family to make a success of your farm. I wonder if you could utilise the land even more by using the no dig method to produce a wide range of fruit and vegetables that you could sell and make a profit, the money made could pay for food for the chickens, and other animals
As someone who grew up buying from and working in a local butcher with an abattoir seeing how you raise and slaughter your chickens but most importantly get your kids involved makes me so happy. I have a philosophy that if I'm not prepared to slaughter and butcher what I eat I shouldn't be eating it. It's so important that people know where their food comes from and how it's treated. in my case with the utmost love and care which I can see is the case for you as well!
Have so much admiration for you all. Thank you for sharing with us. Just amazing what you all experienced on the Great American Farm tour. Prayers for your healing, Rebekah. Jesus for me, the Great Physician. Time and patience. Just love western NC. Back in East Tennessee for me. Really is miraculous how chickens just drop eggs. What a beautiful spot of land that you all are tending!
Happy New Year all! This has been an amazing recap of your year! You have accomplished so very much and much to be proud of. Can't wait to see what you do in 2019!
We are also homesteading but starting a lot further behind. We have no barns, no fences, and twelve acres of brush so thick you can’t walk through it. Our house is separated from our pasture by a 28’ wide creek bed that is twelve feet deep...and no bridge. So we have infrastructure to work on first. We do have about 75 chickens.
Thanks for making this video. I have something to show my wife as an example that life on a homestead is possible. Its a big decision for city people to live in a village but you gotta do what you gotta do. Goodluck with everything. Peace and blessings from Denmark, Sweden and Pakistan
This was so amazing to watch your journey over the last year, and I am so happy to have found your channel! Your family's journey was inspiring and both my husband and I thoroughly enjoyed every minute of it. I really resonated with your struggle with health problems as well, as I have been dealing with many of the same issues. A month ago I was also diagnosed with leaky gut and hope that, if you're comfortable, you document your process of healing. Wishing you much joy and blessings in this new year!
Talk about living the dream! You guys are blessed with very smart, beautiful, healthy children. All those little bumps along the way happpen to remind you where you are, how far you’ve come and what to give thanks for
I've seen so many like reviews of the year, on so many different channels, and they were like, 10 mins and I couldn't get through it. I just watched this whole damn video and loved every min. I am hooked!!
How precious is your entire family!!!! I love your videos and watching your kids enjoying their every day lives and making memories with you! I love that your boy is right there with you no matter how daunting the task! I cried with Rebecca as I have gone through many of the same issues and I know how frustrating and scary it can be. Thank you so much for sharing your world with me, it means so much! Happy New Year!!!!
There is no word to describe my happiness watching your family @59.59 when you hug your son I hard tears what a way of bonding father son relation. Am away from my family and I miss my father so much he is one lucky son and you are a lucky dad stay blessed. Lots of love from some one who is spending his life in a concrete jungle.
I loved watching your year in review, we have learned so much this year from you. I can't wait to see what 2019 has to offer you and your family. God Bless you all! Happy New Year!
Interestingly my family and I started our homestead in 2018. We have chickens, Katahdin sheep, and Boer goats. Looking to add bottle calves, pigs, and meat chickens this year. Our hope is to feed our family of 6 with 70% from homestead 30% from store. I liked your video, and a few of my family saw what I was watching and sat down next to me to enjoy it. Good job and good luck. I'll be looking for more or you videos in the future. Kevin
I'm sorry about the news about your father. I hope they got rid of it all and that you'll have more happy years with him. That's something you can never take for granted. I lost my father to suicide in 2013 and have many regrets. God bless you and your family!
I am awed and amazed by all that you and your family have done, and been through. I too found out my parent (Mother) had cancer in 2018, in the October. By November 1st, she had left us, just one week before her 65th birthday. Ironically she was a nurse and worked right up until the Doctor told her she had to stop and go into hospital. I am now trying to start a very small homestead in a town. I have 20ft x 15ft, a brick shed that my chickens live in and I am trying to find some more land, but without finance it is hard! I am lucky that my three children love to help, just like your children do. Thank you Justin, thank you.
hello Justin, your wife having issues with digestion, have a small amount of red wine during meal at least two weeks also cilantro (coriander) and cinnamon will helps to resolve 90% of liver problems and digestion issues, add them to your meal daily. cilantro gives a flavor while cinnamon adding smell while both does miracles to maintain your most valuable organ in the body.with regards to your cows, look at the nature does buffaloes feed with hay? just release your cows to eat grass which holds more water and nutrients where as hay is dead dried straws contains no nutrients. All the best! keep doing what you're doing. but remember health is the ultimate value in the world. sorry to hear your dad's situation. god bless you all. wish you all prosperous new year!!!
What’s beautiful family and farm you’ve all created together. So inspirational! I love how you shared everything in between from the best highlights to the lowest lows. Your children are delightful and your families togetherness is heart warming. Thank you for putting together a video like this to share with all of us. I also just wanted to say how happy I was that God has healed and continues to heal your wife and your father. You guys are all doing a wonderful thing. By the way, I’m a new subscriber as of watching this whole 2 hour long video. First ever of your videos to see. ;)
I just love your family so much! What a wonderful video into your personal ups and downs.... I'm sorry you've wife suffers with the anxiety and gut problems...I hope she's healed with what nature has to offer... I've suffered problems similar to hers and when I saw you lay down on your new land I thought of how healing mother nature is and"grounding" in that way is extremely healing. Maybe you could make a little garden especially for her... For you all in times of need ..a sanctuary where it's filled with healing herbs and useful flowers for teas and scent to just relax in.. soft grassy spot for laying in... Little paths, a bench swing to sit on and watch the stars maybe? Something that may not be practical or productive but with l worth it for healing. I'm not a farmer and I wish I was so this may sound out there but it's a thought I had to share because I care. It would be a wonderful addition I think and I'd love to make it for your family... Your children wonderful beautiful and blessed. God bless you all I'm happy that your father is well and I hope he continues on healthy.
Reading your children Laura Ingalls Wilder books is a good foundation, away from all the horrid things now for children. I can see how much they love the real stories. Good on you!
I dont usually watch such long videos but I was hooked. Funny thing, I was getting flashbacks from previous videos saying "hey, I remember that" I'm really impressed with your work ethics, family ethics, and approach to the life cycle of your animals in your care. On my farm I give our animals the best lives possible, with the hope they'll only ever have one bad day. Looking forward to seeing your 2019 antics. Keep living the dream
Wow !!! Just amazing, you guys have come so far ! Your family blows me away, to see the children's interactions with the critters and your awesome wife. The thing that keeps coming up in my heart, is that they know they are loved !!! Praying for you guys that 2019 will be the very best year ever and super prosperous !!! Prosperity that is two fold, filled with health and wealth !!! Thank you for the inspiration, the education, the laughs, and the tears, may God continue to bless you and your family in the years to come !!! Happy New Beginnings !!! 2019 the best year ever !!! Thanks again for all you do, the best to you and your family, and God bless !!!
I did not realise this was almost two hours long until I reached the end. 2018 was my healing year, and 2019 still is my healing year - because everything takes time and you have to take it at your own pace. This video was so good, great job!
Happy New Year, Justin, Beauty, and all the Chidlers (and animals)!!! Thank you for another wonderful full length family film! Beautifully done!! Again thank you for sharing your life with us and may God bless you this next year!!!
I hope Rebecca is feeling better in the new year! What helped me with anxiety was physical and mental exercises, and meditation.. That was a major major project you guys pulled off in such a short time, friggin amazing.. Thanks for all the Great vids you guys!! Merry New Year!
I am fulling enjoying this entire Video! I was able to listen to you this last HOA, can't wait until the next one! Since the conference, I've been vlogging whats happening around our farm! Keep inspiring and doing what your doing!
Happy New Year Rhodes Family! May your winter harvest be bountiful and your stress be less. After all, you are blessed! I wish every child could experience life on a homestead.Your children cannot learn in a classroom what they learn on your families homestead.Respect, Love, discipline, work ethic, reading, writing, arithmetic, history, geography, economics.I could go on and on about the life skills you and Rebekah are teaching them.I just love watching your vlogs.Everyday is a new adventure.Thank you! God Bless and Be Safe!
Permaculture principal... that big rain was your land showing how you can during extremes and also find a way during drought. Mold your land to fit waeather. You are doing a great job. So much to learn. I love the scene in Avatar after the kill that they thank the animal for their sacrifice in order o provide nourishment and resources for you. Remember we all return to dust and feed nature
I'm whid you brother
I sure am. I turn 18 in September and ive wanted to do this all my life. Good luck too you!
@R T nice
My thoughts.... I have acquired the land already. Getting out of office in 4 years
I'm with you!
Rebecca you're a brave soul. l'm SO proud of you.
Justin natural born storyteller.
Watching your children are a joy & a treasure.
Good luck
Donnie Carter , you’re never to old to do right. God bless you and good luck,
Donnie - my husband and I started our new homestead from scratch - bare land, 10 acres.
Mr. Carter I am glad you are starting this. It's a good lifestyle. Good luck.
Awesome! Where y'all live? My family is in Beijing and I'd love to get back home and do this style of living. I have a small 3 acre plot in west Tennessee and am fully in the dark about what to do... Did you guys make video for your 4 year project?
Men...3.12 minutes and I already start to cry. That lady is sooooo loveable and sweet.
Toni Franklin great point!
Yah!!! That's a big deal then.
You in faith pray for complete healing
And then say. .thank you
A few years ago while in the Navy I got sick.
Probably all the vaccines
The mind is powerful we don't really understand the power of the mind over the body. Most people who recover from serious diseases have a positive outlook.
I so agree with this.I am a Nurse and fell into the Dr.Trap myself.I have a wonderful Dr. BUT I also know they will keep you coming back time after time.I got off all the meds-stopped going to Drs. and I feel great.I read the book-Power of you sub conscious mind by moody and it changed my life-for the better.
Nicholas Joy it’s the power of positive thinking and law of attraction for sure. It’s something we could all work on.
in the meantime don't get vaccines
Good luck from northern New Mexico
New Mexico...no water, no rich soil....not sure New Mexico is a good place to grow produce.
@@AngelaGomez-ji7nf I am surrounded by farmland. They grow chilies, onions, cotton, and other crops. My Papa grew cantaloupes and watermelons for years in Las Cruses.
Good luck in your adventure I am green with envy......wishing you well, contentment and an abundance of fresh vegetables

I love Johna's commitment.
Your children enjoy the country life. They are experiencing so much....good for you. The best way to learn is to do the job.
2018 was a very hard year for my health too, I am still recovering going into 2019, I know just how difficult anxiety and the waiting and not knowing is, you have to know that you have been a great inspiration and I wish you a better year ahead 🦋🌺🌷🌼
at 1:00:00 the feels come strong, i couldve done that with my father but life kinda got in the way
Thanks for this video, I love the Rhodes, you are true Americans , and as great example of how to raise a family
You step onto the road, and if you don't keep your feet, there's no knowing where you might be swept off to.”
― J.R.R. Tolkien, The Lord of the Rings
Stay strong, honest and resolute in your journey. Exercise, plenty of water, sleep, nutrition and nature are the best cures for any anxiety and depression... Cheers.
You have experienced and accomplished so much in one year, or less. I don't know how you do it! Always an inspiration.
Thanks for that!
I wish there was a "Love this" button. Happy New Year! Love watching your videos, they are inspirational. -KC
Rider 71 thanks for that :(
It's hard to keep the focus and intention when there is so much tugging at our "appetites" and it's your videos and those who are like minded like Holler Homestead that keep me focused on why I'm out here...we decided to use our income tax for down payment vs renting..we feel renting will only limit us in the long run..blessings and healing towards you and wholeness to your wife.
Blessings

HAPPY NEW YEAR. I took your advice and just planted. I had so much shade in my back yard I could no longer grow tomatoes. I had lots of sun in our front yard so I planted 3 tomato plants and ended up with enough tomato’s to can. (Oh by the way I’m 78yrs old and took advice from a 30 something yr. old.)
Lol, we can learn from folks of all ages Gary Silver! My husband and i did the same, too much shade in back. We used some big pots for our tomatoes.
Use a lot of fertilizer. That was my down fall in growing plants in my garden. ( or a whole lot of compost)
@@kathrynmatheson5685 There's free fertilizer all over the place!! Check out 'David the Good' YT for starters, for the easiet and cheapest : )

Sounds great, but link not working for me either. :)
@@flock_ness Fixed it, thanks: bit.ly/introtopermaculture
That had to of taken hours to prepare this video. Thank you. Loved it my favorite part was when Laurel came to the homestead.
Yah!! Glad you enjoyed it :)
What a wonderful and inspiring example. Thank you guys and greetings from Cannes in the South of France.
Sorry for your loss. I'm a nurse 65. I love this family. Blessings to u.
hello Justin, your wife having issues with digestion, have a small amount of red wine during meal at least two weeks also cilantro (coriander) and cinnamon will helps to resolve 90% of liver problems and digestion issues, add them to your meal daily. cilantro gives a flavor while cinnamon adding smell while both does miracles to maintain your most valuable organ in the body.with regards to your cows, look at the nature does buffaloes feed with hay? just release your cows to eat grass which holds more water and nutrients where as hay is dead dried straws contains no nutrients.
First ever of your videos to see. ;)
Praying for 2019 to be a year of many blessings for your family!
Funny thing, I was getting flashbacks from previous videos saying "hey, I remember that"
I'm really impressed with your work ethics, family ethics, and approach to the life cycle of your animals in your care. On my farm I give our animals the best lives possible, with the hope they'll only ever have one bad day.
Looking forward to seeing your 2019 antics.
Keep living the dream
Same, I was hooked. They should make a documentary like this but better.

True.
for believers, our trust is that though our bodies are returning to dust, our spirit lives on, and enjoys our creator
I hope that 2019 is my healing year, I need some time to get back in a happy healthy mind set.
