This was my first flight simulator game, and one of my first 3D games period. Tons of nostalgia. I played the hell out of this and the original Delta Force.
I got to own the F-16 game. But this was the game my friend always told me about and i wanted to play it so badly based off his good review. Unfortunately, we moved to different schools before i could try it out. 21 years later, and i'm on here watching the game play for the first time!
This was my first pc game! It was my 10th birthday, and I stayed up all night playing it. This year, I saw an F-22 airshow demo for the first time, and it brought back memories of this game. Such an amazing aircraft.
my older brother installed this on our computer back in 2002. I was 6yo and I was so good at this damn game I played it every day for hours. Crazy nostalgia. I remember every note of them songs.
As a kid, I only had the demo version of this game but I played the absolute shit out of it. Hearing the engines revving up on takeoff unlocked memories I didn't even know I had.
shout out to all the players from online multiplayer on novaworld - 1998/1999 onwards. Cannot believe that was 25 years ago... unreal how time flies good times.. man there were some characters there who would just talk crap in chat but were a hoot. 'CommyLib' was one such player that comes to mind. If you remember that guy, drop a reply! Hola to all the Brasilians who would frequent the Novaworld RAW server back in the day :)
Awesome game. I always liked the heat distortion effect and the dithered textures. The midi music is so nostalgic to me. I have to install and play this again :)
It is so weird to see and listen to all this. Back then, I could understand very little English. It's odd to now understand everting while in my memory this game was an enigma.
If I'm remembering correctly, I can recall patching this game to work with the very first 3D video card released -called "3DFX". Was i ever mesmerized by the new 3D technology. I also remember hoping (though not believing) that, one day, perhaps game play could look as good as the opening 'event scenes' in this game. Now, here I am remembering this, while watching this piece of nostalgia, after moving across the skies in DCS.... which looks better! I learned long ago to never underestimate technology. Thanks a lot for posting this.... it's even got me thinking of my girl back then. Ahh, the good ol' college days; yep, simming, when I should have been reading.
I remember playing this game demo as a kid and how MMX technology was a cool new thing back then. What's funny it's only this year(and 2021 in beta Chrome versions), 25 years later, when MMX(basically SIMD) became available to be utilized in the browsers through web assembly. It still doesn't work on iOS but already works in desktop Safari so should come to iStuff soon.
radio talk with mule lead at mission 2 was a nice touch, I just came here to listen to that :) I always turned down the midi music, it was killing the mood for me.
Novalogic had two F-22 games F-22 Lighting II and F-22 Raptor. First one was released back when it was the YF-22 and the sequel was when the first few F-22 models were finally in the Air Force
This brings me back in time for sure, I think I might still have the cd somewhere in a box. I felt this was a more arcade-ish game but still a good time to be had!
I got the demo before i got the game. I've lost count of how many times i did this mission... fun fact; in the demo you could get other guys to spawn way off the the south, i think, and i tried to nail them as well so i wouldnt have to take them on in later missions, a pair of flankers iirc.
19:05 oh my god, this is the first time I actually noticed this because the last time I played this, I was like 5 years old. The raptor pilot just tried to pick up a chick mid mission, mid flight and got shot down lol.
If I'm not mistaken, Novalogic was using voxel based graphics a lot back in that time because they cost less for the CPU and the optical result was nice -for the time-. I wouldn't call them dithered graphics as the way they are constructed is different.
I never figured out how the stealth worked or if it even was a thing in this game. Does anyone know if stealth was simulated in this game? As a kid I felt as vulnerable in a raptor as I did in any aircraft while playing ATF.
For some weird reason, when I played it today, the enemy had 3 SAM sites on mission 3 at YORK location, making the mission unbeatable, since the Ghost squad always gets taken down
I know there's IF-22 which is also a good sim that models the radar and hud more closely to the real thing. (And supposedly had some legal issues with novalogic at the time) Although it kinda suffers the same fate that this has with joysticks where it seems to only look for joystick ports other than USB.
How did you beat the last mission????, if i remember correctly, there is the Air Force One far away, then as you climb during take off to protect it, the enemy hits the Air Force One, and you (in this case me) failed the mission......could not beat this
I got this in the World of Combat 2000 boxed set of games with Commanche 3 and Armored Fist 2. This one had a bug where the missiles wouldn't work, the display had loads of them showing and they wouldnt fire, in the 2nd campaign. Can anyone translate the pilotspeak in the intro cutscene?
Im trying to install this game I just to play as a kid, but after mounting the .iso and pressing install game im getting an autorun error and I cant install it
brother how beautiful this is!! Please tell me that you have the download link, my older dad taught me this game in my childhood, it was my first PC game, I would greatly appreciate it if you have it to download!
@@sotheamam1244 F-22 Lightning 3 is pretty fun. In few missions you can even drop tactical nuke. Game works fine for me on Windows 10, check out this guide for more info: steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2595324932
Not quite, the game had completely different set of missions. Also this one was native Windows application which used new MMX tech from Intel CPUs. Lightning II had DOS executable.
Back in the good old days when naming stuff '2000' sounded futuristic and advanced.
Eurofighter 2000
Yeah. After that they used "X" to make out sound cool. And then "4.0" (whatever 2.0 or 3.0 was... They just skipped it. LoL)
Yea boy we was getting there 😂
This was my first flight simulator game, and one of my first 3D games period. Tons of nostalgia. I played the hell out of this and the original Delta Force.
I used to play this after watching Top Gun reruns and pretend I'm Maverick.
Great memories of my 7 year old me playing this, inspired me to be the pilot I'm today.
Amazing, what do you fly? Computer flight sims made me consider that a lot, until ended up programming computers.
@@perplexedmoth Today i fly a Legacy 650, nice, that's another great job, especially when you create new software, i find it amazing

My first videogame. Not gonna lie. I still remember the Opening Sequence Word for Word. This has a massive emotional load for me.
Same bro. I crashed intothe ground so many times. This and wing commander 3 I believe we're my firsts
Raptor, nice shooting!

I am emotionally attached to this game, probably my first simulation game played on a computer with 3D graphics ❤🎉
Same dude. Same. Late 90s-97-98. And i only had the demo version so it was I think 2 stages. Such wonderful days.
Brings back memories ❤
Played it 22 years ago❤
There must be a market for this sort of game being played online now. This brings back so good old memories.

Que nostalgia!.

Best game of flying ever
Gotta love mission 2, the C-5s always intimidated me as a kid, no idea why
For some weird reason, when I played it today, the enemy had 3 SAM sites on mission 3 at YORK location, making the mission unbeatable, since the Ghost squad always gets taken down
I never played any of the Novalogic plane games. I owned some of the Comanche, WWII sub game, and tank games. They were arcadey but fun.
Do you have all patches for this game? Its a hell of a task finding them all.
I don't have any patches for this game.
I didn't even know i could disobey orders on the First mission
That narrator from the Raptor review sounds the same as the one from the Doom UAC's advertising for "Building better worlds" ads.
Novalogic was able to pull off the right amount of simulation and action to make a fun game. Nowadays there's just the one or the other.
👍🍺🍺🍺🍺🍺 Awesome ! Can you do a review on the MIG 29 flight sim to ? Thanx.😁😁😁
this was my first exposure to air to air combat

I remebered played this game with my brother. I was 10 that time, now 37 and yet i dont have any clue what the pilot says in the intro.
Awesome! 👍✈️
Awsome!👍

Nice
F22 Raptor, Armored First 2 and Comanche 3.
At first glance confused this with F-22 Air Dominance fighter, don't think I ever played this one.
I still play although haven't in a while F-16 MRF on steam.
I hate that the mission editor never worked.
i even got the CD but the setup wont start installation :(
this is happening in windows 10
I only had the demo, and played so many times that map and that only mission.
Im trying to install this game I just to play as a kid, but after mounting the .iso and pressing install game im getting an autorun error and I cant install it

I bet you had to play the game with the keyboard! I use a progammable Joystick to map the keys to the joystick buttons. :-)
Is this F-22 on steam
No, the one on Steam is the last one from the series(3rd), this is the 2nd release.

I dont see something new (the lightning 3 was way different )

UNTIL I FOUND CHEAT CODES!!!!
How to play this game on android
I don't remember this intro being this cringey xD
