To me, this is GUNSHIP's most profound song. I love how Anodyne is used as a metaphor for death in the outro. So... while physical comfort drifts away, death also dissolves all pain. Gorgeous music + profound lyrics + amazing video = powerful art.
Really cool video, and loved the reaction! In true retrowave/synthwave style, it was done on the cheap, using specific phrasing with an AI image generator I literally have on my phone, using animation elements--hence, the frequent cuts. It'll get really scary when the metadata tags become so specific, the AI can start blending imagery from every religion out there. Also, love how we're in awe of what a silly learning machine's concept of what an afterlife *might* be, compared to what it actually *could* be... and that's coming from an atheist! Furthermore, BIG ups on GUNSHIP bringing in Power Glove, who I haven't heard much of since the 'FarCry 3: Blood Dragon' soundtrack.
Thanks for the kind words! And the info about the video! I love it and it freaks me out all at the same time. As I was watching on repeat the blending of various religions and views on afterlife was hypnotic and horrifying. The possibilities of what happens after life are endless but you're right about actually seeing a video mash up of just our concepts of what it might be are so crazy. I think cause it's not the perfect Heaven or Hell picture being painted and the notion that maybe our imagination and minds can't even wrap around what it might actually be like is what gives me pause .... and I dig it! Thanks for the comment and your thoughts!! Also, not gonna lie I haven't heard much Power Glove but I'm been checking them out since this!!
@@meaningfullyvacant Love the brain-burners like this, man. XD Be sure to check out Power Glove's work on 'Fantastic Lover' if you like some old school Roger & Zapp-style retro-funk.
I have been absolutely obsessed with this release. I've come to learn that it is a song with which you have to watch the video to really experience/appreciate.
That is so awesome! They have made me more happy with their music than I though music could make me!! Can’t wait for more! Thanks for the comment and watching with me!!
It for sure could be! It's a different paced song for sure so could be intro or outro, but I've really grown to dig it by itself!! But could also be the trippy video!
The quote is from one of the epistles of Paul. Corinthians, I think. In the kjv it is "For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known" For now it is hard to imagine what lies after this life, but we will see it as clearly as two men greet each other. For now we must muse from the limited light and understanding we receive
@@meaningfullyvacant It gotta be a snowball effect of hate, it gotta be. There's no logic reason behind it. Just like any other on the interwebs. In the end the most important thing is to love the collecting. The real problem is people that aren't collecting, now that's a real headache of a problem.
5:50 No, means AI stole pictures of artists that do paintings about related topics, AI ''art'' doesnt work like that, it basically does a collage of stuff, you can see a ton of giger and beksinski influences in there, including as you mentioned religios paintings, different post apocalyptic stuff, and ofc the futuristic part of cyberpunk. It's all based of someone elses artwork. It's based of what HUMANS think comes after death.
Contrary to what some critics suggest, AI does not "memorize" and replicate existing art in a digital collage. Instead, it operates through probability distributions, a mathematical concept that allows for the generation of new data without directly copying from its training.
