Im a plant mechanic that works on mining equipment and have only 2.5k aud in tools. All the expensive specialized tools are supplied by the business which is good (e-rad, b-rad, hitorque, 1500ftlb torque wrench, scan computers and specialised tools) but if you took on that cost by yourself as an independent mechanic you could easily spend 100k on the tools alone.
Our prices are so much higher than the US prices too. It’s crazy how much extra we pay. I guess that’s the price we pay for a safe functioning democracy though. 😂
Specialty tools should be supplied Before leaving my last shop, I talked them into doing it for the business. Otherwise a tech can leave and take their stuff with them. It's in the companies best interest
Automotive / Industrial techs spend the most for sure.
