Thanks for posting this. 👍 Takes me back 35 years when I did the Lands End trial in 2CVs, Dyanes and a Mehari. I don't think I'll be doing it in a Fiero any time soon!? 😉
Hi Alan What a small world, this video just appeared on my RUclips feed. It was a good watch. I’m always amazed how the older cars do so well, that Ford model A flew up the hill. Catch up sometime Ryan Pridham from Welwyn Garden 👍
Old cars were made to take you where you needed to go in awful road conditions. Model A's have crazy levels of wheel articulation, even the frame rails are made to twist and give, to give you maximum contact with the ground.
So as an American car guy I just have a question for anyone who can awnser. Is this a hillclimb competition of sorts or is it part of a rally event. Very cool either way to see classics like an MG3 and TR3 as well as newer classics like the MRS and Z3 in an environment they were never intended for. I'm quite stunned to see how well the cars all performed considering how steep and muddy it looked. Heck even that Micra impressed me quite a bit. An open dif FWD car almost certainly shouldn't be able to make it up that.
Its a hillclimb of sorts. Car trails are always off road and usually on similar terrain to this. Based on a points system the higher up the hill you go, and staying within the course markers, the more points you get.
@@medonk12rs they are running street tyres so as soon as you lose grip you lose momentum bouncing the suspension just mostly moves the body of the vehicle not the tyre these ppl have seen another person do this and think it works if they put 4wd mud tyres on their cars and lowered the air pressure it would perform 100 times better,Its like trying to dig a hole by jumping on a trampoline ha
Um, yes it actually does improve traction and its definetly not for fun. Jumping up and down will apply a little more weight the tires momentarily providing slightly more grip. Maybe just enough to make the hill
Everything that’s both fantastically wonderful and irredeemably stupid about the male gender in one glorious video! Yes, as a gender we’re doomed and as soon as the human race cracks parthenogenesis, we’re finished but I humbly submit that we made our contribution in the ‘make life worth living and have as much fun as possible’ stakes! 😂
I just dont understand this ! Taking an old relics and doing this to them . Beating the drivetrain , engines and transmission to bits in the mud and rocks . I understand back in the day when the Sports Car was born and what they was for . They was to take place of the horse , walking or the use of tractors if a person was a farmer to go hunting or other outdoor activities . Then somewhere over a short time they got all mixed up with being race cars . Or is it the other way around . Never the less these cars should be treated better than this . The hell with the newer cars like the BMW ,or the Porsche or any car made after 1978 .
So that we can what, appreciate them in a museum? Nah. I love that owners will USE their vehicles and that we can all appreciate their mechanical functions not just their form.
@@goatee21 I did not mean that these old cars to be put into Museums . I am say that driving them the way they are is harmful to the car . All that mud , rocks and dirt getting into the frame rails and past all the seals is never good .Then revving the engine and putting strain on the driveline . They should be driven with respectful order .
Trialling is the earliest form of motorsport and is design to test cars and drivers durability - for every second of abuse it's sure that these cars get many hours of fettling repairs and maintenance. Wear and tear can always be remedied. The lands end trial has been running since 1908 and I'm glad it remains entry level motorsport at its simplest and finest.
Lots of cars in the world, some get used well, some not used at all. I wouldn’t call these relics or gems - these are cheap cars that might be crushed if they didn’t provide some type of enjoyment for someone. Although if you think these are hard to obtain rare cars then you are showing your low economic level. Stopping at 1978? Plenty of good stuff made after that even for the most picky.
Guy on the KLX250: "Why are all these people here today?" lol
😂

3:20 the MR-S is surprisingly nimble and I would say that it would outperform even a Miata, due to the engine weight over the transaxle
The mr-s is a phenomenal platform for a track car as well, they don’t suffer from snap oversteer like the previous generation
these guys are crazy, and i love watching

Why would you ruin a car like that
@@novas_beff_official 35 years ago, old 2CVs were worthless.
I probably wouldn't take one today. And don't worry, I certainly won't trial my Fiero! 😉
Anyone remember Louis Jenner. Enfield 350, Morgan 4/4, Triumph TR3 ? He loved the lands End. Still got his car badge. It is destined for my M3W.
My thanks to the officials and marshals who turned out a very well organised event.

old car becomes more beautiful.. well done bro...♥♥♥
7:18 what in tarnation was that? And 8:30 what motor is in the Anglia? Holy mother.
CRACKINGton is a nice name for that trail 😄
1:10 That little Kawasaki 250 put all the cars to shame by just motoring up with no noise, no drama and, sadly, no cheers from the crowd.
I mean, the main draw of trails is to watch extremely inappropriate cars drive up steep, muddy slopes, taking a dirt bike kinda defeats the purpose
He was lost doing a pizza delivery!
Are there any rules? Standard tyres or something like that, or just do what you want?
Standard tyres must be used, and all types of Grip and Town & Country block patterns are prohibited.
the 2 spare tires are filled with water or lead shot?
That Pop driver certainly knows how to do it.

Thanks, longer next time please :) :)
Does bouncing up & down in the seats improve traction in the mud?
no
@@AndrewMay100 ... so I guess it's just for fun, right? (never had the experience)

Does anyone know if the MR2(S) is modified? It seems to have a bit more ground clearance than mine. Thanks
@dannydc2 keep the bent shell for a trials car
seems to be mandatory to have at least 2 spare tires :D
Adds to the weight over the axle
Those poor cars lol, the yellow MG was for sale at Brightwells this year
Yeah, it's BRUTAL!
So the rear engine cars rule this event? 😂 I’ll bring my Porsche 912 over from the states
What type of car appears at around 5.36 ? . I thought it might be a Gilbern.
I think its an Invader Estate.....based on Anglia....made by Gilbert.
Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds, anyone ??
yea gotta get pretty high to watch the pretty pretty colored people machines drive by

Withnthe cars less gass.. with bikes full throttle
