- My tribute to Mark Knopfler: Down to the Waterline. Watch my other tributes to MK here: / @markknopflertribute . I'm an amateur musician who likes the sound of Mark Knopfler's guitar playing. In no way I'm claiming to be as good as or better than the original.
That's about as close to the original recording and sound as anyone could ever get. Hats off to you.
I've loved Knopfler from the first moment I heard Sultans. I was 20 (1980) years old and was at 103rd and Cicero Ave. in Oak Lawn IL. with the windows down and the radio on and the song hit and I was mesmorized and still am after all these years. Great Job!
The opening song. Beautiful piece, doesn't get as much appreciation it deserves.

It was great, but you can tell it was an amateur, there were moments here or there where the notes didn't come out super clean. I'm not hating, and this guy can do way better than I could, but yea you can tell it was amateurish in a couple of places, not that that's a bad thing.
One of my favorite MK tunes ..i remember when this came out it blew me away and still does .

I absolutely love this. The track brings back many happy memories from when I was younger, but I love the fact that I am now privileged to own a copy of the very same guitar the expert gentleman is using in the video - and I can get ~same tone (yeh, right! my playing ability lacks!) but what a great bit of playing! Rock on, brother!

One of my favorites song of all time....I remember( if I can describe the term accurately ;p) ) smoking weed getting high as shit in 1980 as a 16 year old teenager and digesting /savoring every little nuance/note from all instruments in this song..........to this day the sweet ring/tones drill in my mind and take me back to times of no stress and beauty all over....oh how I miss those days ;p( !!! ;p) !!! Most beautiful playing. Love watching the musician do the fingering on the strings also love the strumming all up close and personal. Enjoyed immensely. Keep sharing your great playing. An amateur you may say, but a Master to me because you are doing something you love, you can tell it in your playing. Thanks..... :-)

Don't know why it's taken YT 9 years to recommend these tribute videos. This is friggin awesome. I grew up on this stuff and to see someone play it as good as the studio version is beyond impressive. Heading over to your channel now to see what else you got.

That tone is killer dude. Sounds just like on the record. What amp are you using?
I use a Boss ME-70, which I route directly into my mixer. On stage, I use a Marshall half-stack, but the Boss accounts for most of the sound. As well as the Texas Special pick-ups in my strat.
Mark Knopfler Tribute Yeah I have a pretty accurate sound with my deluxe player's strat but only using a vox DA5 practice amp so the sound isn't quite as "big" if that makes sense

Beautiful job. I'm someone who prefers going to see guitarists who stay true to the album sound. Knopfler always fiddled about and did his own thing live, adding stuff everywhere. How can you air guitar to someone who's making it up as he goes along!
