It took me a while to pull this one off! My tribute to Mark Knopfler: Telegraph Road. Watch my other tributes to MK here: / @markknopflertribute . I'm an amateur musician who likes the sound of Mark Knopfler's guitar playing. In no way I'm claiming to be as good as or better than the original.
I might take requests, leave your favorite MK song in the comments and it might influence my next tribute.
I am the HARDEST-CORE Mark Knopfler fan in the entire world. I wanted them to anoint him as a National Treasure of Scotland at the same time we (almost) voted for Independence. I'm pretty sure I have every single version of this song ever posted on youtube, and was listening to the Reprise version from Nimes '92 when it rolled into your version.
All I can say, guys, is you are just truly OUTSTANDING -- SUPREMELY WELL DONE! A sincere tribute in the finest sense of the word. I would gladly trade the last 50 years of me life to be able just to do what you have done here meself. Keep it up!! ;-)
Mark Knopfler he is a treasure for all international music lovers.
i believe that.& also that god Touched him .
Angus Alexander MacLeod Hope you got to see him on this new tour. I saw him at the O2 the other day. Fantastic.
Mark's the national treasure of Northumberland.
+Angus Alexander MacLeod Scotland? -- he has an English mother, Hungarian father, went to school/ uni in England, has an English wife/ kids and lives in London. Some Scot I'd say - not.
Cool stuff... you know he plays all the instruments himself right? Keyboards, Bass, Guitars... he just doesn't play drums...
I'm a huge MK fan and have only heard one other person who could come close to a good cover. You my friend have done just that and more. There are reason's his music doesn't have many covers. People don't dare try. You have done justice to his music!! Outstanding job!
This is really a good cover and you can definitely be proud of that level.
That people "don't dare try" is a shame. They bloody well should! *Especially* the ones that suck. Experienced axe slingers can copy anything, it's no big deal. But, the newbies that can figure out how to hack it out half-decently will be better off for it.
Then came the churches, then came the strats, then came dire straits, pick withers and cats. Bravo. So clean it removes cigarette burns from the overcoat.
That is a truly brilliant comment! :)
99.9% Accurate. To get 100% you would have to be mark himself.
That aside it was stunning. Well done
No you don't, plenty of people play it, and sound like a recording of the original.
You don't have to be MK to play it, because it's not terribly difficult to play. There's nothing ultra-demanding about playing Telegraph Road, it's just that the tune is lengthy and has a really well-developed melody. So, figuring it out and memorizing it is somewhat effort-intensive.
Telegraph is awesome (and timeless) because it's phenomenally well-written. But, it's not physically really hard to play.
Devil's Offspring Plenty of guys can play it to a point. I’ve heard lots of guys play it poorly. Playing the notes isn’t really the issue, capturing all the nuance and articulation is the challenge. This guy gets very close. It’s easy to get wrapped up in technicalities and forget that it’s really all down to communicating through the instrument. Few guys can match Knopfler at that.
@@devilsoffspring5519 the best song of mk for me
@@donharrold1375 Well put! It's a great one because of how melodic and expressive the playing is, and how well-developed (and vivid!) the story is while still being a really good song.
@@donharrold1375 🤘🤘
Watching this makes me wonder how the hell Knopfler even came up with all this. Great cover too, damn cool that you are skilled on all those instruments. Good to see real talent still.
Nintenkid91 - I have thought that too. Crossroad handshakes perhaps.
Nintenkid91 I wonder the same thing. The lyrics, the story, the music. It’s why we listen.
I'd say the other members of the band probably had a lot to do with that, because believe it or not Mark didn't create every sound in Dire Straits and wasn't the only source of talent ;)
This one particularly was composed with the help of Alan Clark
so much shit on yt then there's this. .._amazingly talented_
Fantastic,is that a strat an American Special,if how do you like it.
That was just amazing.
That was just outstanding, and you say you are an amatuer, you have surpassed that level by far, that was just far too good a job. It was a pleasure to sit and watch this video all the way to the end. I hope Mark Knopfler gets to see this because he will want you to show him how its done again. 10/10
10:16 how...?
Pleeeeeeeease!
Another epic, epic, epic tribute.
If Mark ever wanted a day off, no one would know.
Wow!! Amazing solo man! I close my eyes and I hear MK!!
Wow!!!!. I have no words!!! Just thank you for your video!!!!!
Hats off !!!!
This is fantastic. Excellent job. I saw MK in Sheffield a few weeks ago and he did this. I'm quite a fan of guitar instruments and this is right up there with the best.
I'm plodding through Going Home and hope to have it posted on here soon. I think this would be just one step too far for me though. It is still inspiring though
Can't help listening to this final solo at least once a week, what a cover!
What can one really say. I've said it all before in other vids. You must have studied MK's for countless hours. If not you have a multi-talent (no doubt). I thought I could play guitar but after watching you I should sell up and take up another interest. Bravo my man.
You are a great musician with a very fine talent my friend! Well done! All the best to you, Ken :-)
F**k me, this is amazing!
You sir have done a great job! This is the most accurate cover of Telegraph Road on RUclips. Kudos!
Probably the best thing on RUclips....amazing.....you are a genius sir.
Totally agree 🎸💎🔥🎶🎵👌☘️
Outstanding job man. Mark is a one of a kind player with a very unique technique. You've got it nailed though. I'm working on his right hand stuff now.
Just very, very good. I hugely enjoyed this. And it was just a great idea to allow us to see you playing. I learned quite a lot from watching you and can return to the original with greater understanding. Thanks very much. A great idea.
Outstanding! The only way you could improve on it was if you wrote it yourself :-)
Thanks for sharing your talent with us, you really managed to capture the essence of the track. Keep up the good work!
Well done sir. Im sure Mark has heard this tribute to his beautiful song. Im sure he would be proud of your playing of it. The ambience in your tribute is perfect. I would so like to play that well.
absolutely Masterful Job! Mark would be very proud... I know you don't have the 1931 National for the intro but you make it work with the Gretsch (at least I think that's what it is)
I play o Cort guitar, can you tell me please the right settings for the ME-70 alone? Thanks, and keep on like this...
For the lead-part, I'm using a Fender American Special Stratocaster with Texas Special pick-ups. For the recordings, I use a Boss ME-70 in combo-setting with delay, reverb and compression applied. This routes directly into my mixer.
Fabuleux !!!!! Vraiment genial...Félicitations !!!
C est un vrai plaisir de t écouter jouer...
i like where do you think you're going can you play gutarman!!
excellent. prob is your thumb is not as long as mark's. :-)
Beautiful, truly beautiful. Your cover reminds me (once again) that this is one of the most astounding songs in the history of rock and roll... what a fantastic job you did here.
HOLY S**I I thought he was MK himself playing !!!
great great GREAT ! Really thanks for emotions. I like too much "normal" people play these types of songs, we can feel passion. Go on this way !
If I hadn't known better I would have bet it's Mark Knopfler playing. Great job dude!!!
Your playing amazes me. Keep it up. Just how many instruments do you play???
When I listen this..... I'm in tears for that Mark made this masterpiece. I'ts an example who music can explane an history, with three changes, armoniusly pasted.
And you made this tribute.... i have no words to congratulate you. Simply BRILLIANT!!! The music and his lovers, respects your job!!
Vivan los Dire Straits.....SIEMPRE!!!
omg, this is amazing. Love your performance. i wish i could play this great song like you play it. Congratulations
Watching this again...you are no amateur musician...by your own admission maybe but definitely not in skill.
You need immense skill to dedicate a channel to the Legend of Mark Knopfler and you have it man. Never give it up 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
Your "Tribute" is an understatement. Well done, I've enjoyed it very much
mark knopfler! get out of this body!!!!

Наслаждаясь Вашей музыкой Аплодирую Вам стоя!!!
I think you're using the word amateur in the original sense and that's a compliment.
Absolutely brilliant. I was singing along.
Great job. Are you using .09 string? Have you try using .10?
Really enjoyed what you put together for this amazing song. Awesome job!!!
Very nice video!! Where can I find the piano sheets? Thank you very much :)
Wow... Not many people can come as close as the original. Congrats.
Jesus that's some clean cover! Thanks and nice play style!
I close to finishing "You and your friend" which you'll be able to view on my channel soon. I've decided that "Tunnel of Love" will be my next 'project'.
Incredible performance, so well done, if they ever need a last minute replacement they should give you a call... ;-)
You Rock!! MK should listen to your versions!! (Y)
Can you upload the backing track?
What an entertaining video. You really pulled it off - brilliant.
What' s the tune of the guitar with which you are playing the arpeggio?
WTF??? GREAT! REALLY GREAT! One of the best covers I see! 👍🏻👍🏻
Absolutely incredible! A consummate demonstration of the Knopfler sound and technique - thank you for sharing.
1 other question, what amp are you running through?
Simply, the most Musical of all rock songs ever written. Nice Work!
(Oh, and *you* played it well too)
My friend, you are a monster!
You are great ...=) and that Fender sings and it is beautiful
jesus, i can't play with my hands that well, hence my tone is not quite right to play this since i use a pick, my telegraph road comes like how would gilmour play this song. but this, is just amazing. tone, playing, everything
I have no words for your style and interpretation, so close to M K....keep on like this! Ciao
That strat gave me goosebumps. What an exceptional tone!
Yep, it sounds like an electric guitar.
I'd say it's his playing that's the delight. :)
The strat indeed has a phenomenal sound. My favorite electric guitar, would love to own one someday
I have to confess, i downloaded the audio from the video and i always listen to your performance. i did the same with Tunnel of love.
Superbe ! On dirait vraiment Mark Knopfler !! que du Bonheur... Merci
Where I have been? Practising to get where I am now (and still a loooong way to go). :-)

It's just me in this video
That was brilliant. Well done.
If you appreciate good music and technical ability then I can strongly recommend watching/listening to another great tribute artist - Brady Arnold. He also has quite a number of his original works published on RUclips, so check him out.
Fuckin Masterpiece right there!
You are more than Mark Knopfler , you are Dire Straits =)

This is outstanding, excellent, thanks for the video n tutorial, how do you got to this stage?, do u attend musical class or self taught. I like mk sounds too, but never get close to the sound. Can you share more tips on how ?
Self-taught. The main tip is: practice, practice, practice. Every day, and don't ever, EVER, give up. EVER!
Excellent job. There is no better song than this.
You're an amazing player! Keep up with the good work and thanks for the videos!
You are quite a talent - I take my hat off to you, sir.
