*I am sharing links to similar flats in the video below because I have been getting a lot of questions about finding a good pair of flats, which I understand - they are tough to find! But I hope the biggest takeaway from this video is learning style TOOLS to use what you already have, and not buying more STUFF. My wardrobe is specific to me and my tastes - yours will be different! And that is great because fashion is about creativity and expression! NB: some of these items are affiliate links and I will make a small commission if you make a purchase. This is part of my strategy to make valuable slow fashion content free. A lot of these items listed below are not the actual product because most of my items are either very old or secondhand, so I've tried to find the most similar item.

On this channel, I share #slowfashion and #sustainablefashion tips that center around how to #shopyourcloset, and restyling pieces you already own. I also spotlight brands that I believe in every now and then. I believe in #creativityoverconsumption, and that we all have the power to be conscious consumers.

I've been using Indyx for six months, and it's been a game-changer! It's helped me downsize my wardrobe-it shows me duplicates; it makes it easy to see what I don't wear; or if I can't even be bothered to photograph it, I don't love it enough to keep it.
After adding my outfits to the calendar for a few months, it was really easy for me to see that I wear jeans almost every day, so it didn't make sense for me to have a bunch of trousers that are more for my fantasy self than my actual lifestyle. Downsizing those has freed up a lot of closet space!
It also helps reduce my stress in getting dressed. Adding tags to my outfits make it so easy to decide what to wear. Last weekend, I searched for outfits that had the tags "Going Out," "Layers," and "Autumn." So rather than being stuck frozen in front of my closet and thinking I have nothing to wear, it showed me my outfits that meet all those criteria, and I just picked the one I was feeling for the occasion.

I’m using it too. I’ve uploaded clothing as the season has come around as I keep my different clothing in storage throughout the seasons. I good tip is to google a picture of it and screenshot the item. Saves so much time. I’ve also screenshotted something similar and uploaded that. Like a black t-shirt and white t-shirt etc. lazy but efficient😜 great video, cheers!

When I started using a wardrobe app a few years ago, I trained myself to immediately get a copy of the photo of anything I purchase. I was even able to find photos for most of the items I already had on resale sites like Poshmark. And, as you mentioned, it doesn't always need to be the exact item.

Game changer to use Google photos! I do the same and it looks 100 times better. If you cannot find the item, using the picture search option to find something that looks like it

I love cataloguing my wardrobe items exactly for the same reasons. Learning more about cost per wear, most worn/least worn, and seeing all my items in one app. I've been using a different app for nearly 2 years now, logging my outfits every day and I'm a sucker for data. Turns out I use 98% of my clothes, have 63% second hand and 9% handmade items, that's pretty cool, didn't know that but am very happy about it! 🤩

I started using Indyx after seeing Christina’s video with Devon Rule, and I love it! I tried other apps and gave up, but Indyx works well, is fun, and so practical if you want your cost per wear and to know what you wear the most! And thanks for the tip about uploading the outfit to get a packing list, haven’t done that yet!

This was useful as I’m in the process of cataloging my closet. It’s super time consuming but since I have the time I’m just doing it in chunks. Thanks for the tips on making the clothes look better… this is one of the things I’m not loving (the flat lay process). I hope this will help me to use my clothes a lot more, and especially for packing for winter getaways when my summer clothes are packed away in storage.

Ive been cataloging everything I wear for over three years. I learned that I wildly over estimate how often I wear something. Things I feel like I wear all the time, I in fact only wear once or twice per month. Makes you realise how biased we are to think we need new items more than we do.

I’ve catalogued my wardrobe & find it particularly useful when contemplating a purchase, 2nd hand or new. I can check my catalogue to make sure that I’m not doubling up on an item, and see what else I can style it with in my existing wardrobe. If I realise I’ve already got 3 of those tucked away somewhere, or that it doesn’t coordinate well with anything else then it’s a hard no.

I don’t use this particular app but I use a different one and it saves time and makes it easier to declutter, because my app tells me most- and least-worn. If I haven’t worn something in 300 days, it needs to go. The other thing I use it for is shopping, as it prevents me from buying yet another black sweater; I have enough of those, and I can see I’m not even wearing the ones I own so why buy another? Lastly, I like using my inspiration photos to build outfit ideas, so I don’t have to think to get dressed in a hurry 🤷🏽‍♀️

This changed my life too. My one tip would be, try as much as possible to get the promo shot of the garment (ie search online for the original listing) even if it's second hand, as it helps you remember what drew you to it in the first place. If you can't find it, find something close that looks nice.

I guess this might be easy for a minimalist, but I have hundreds and hundreds and hundreds of items of clothing. Also, several hundred pairs of shoes and handbags. This would take too long. I have used a variation on the Marie Kondo method to keep organized. Works well for me.

It wasn’t untill Anna of TheAnnaEdit made a video of her stats from this past season that I really signed up. I decided that I will start by cataloging the items that are freshly washed. I also have many summer shoes out at the moment. I even bought some in the sales and decided that one pair of sandals I had wasn’t for me. I will however add to a note on my iPhone that I need to stay away from sandals with some kind of elastic on top of my foot. That way I will try to slowly catalog my clothes also making sure that new purchases are added as soon as I get home.

About 7 years ago, I created an Excel spreadsheet of all my clothing with categories like season, months I might wear them in, "in need of dry cleaning," "in need of alterations," "appropriate for work," etc. I admit I don't consult it much anymore, but I am open to other options!

Congrats on getting digital! I have Smart Closet and I've been on the app about 3 years now. I have over 700 items (including sportswear, accessories, bags and undergarments) and I've been really focused on the data. What's getting worn, how often, paired with what, etc. It's been really great for identifying what colors and silhouettes I favor. Also breaking up my large wardrobe into seasons. I absolutely love putting together travel capsules in the app! Sometimes I'll do several iterations, tweaking my selections as a trip gets closer.

  • @4eburawka18
    @4eburawka18 3 дня назад +4

I've started using Indyx when Christina first mentioned it on her channel. The background removal is the best!!
I've been using the app to build 7x7 capsules every week throughout the months of March and April, close to your recommendation to catalog capsules instead of all pieces by type.
But then the summer came with the big seasonal wardrobe switch, and I was too lazy to catalog all the seasonal pieces (also it was too hot to get dressed sometimes 😂)
I've been meaning to get back to my digital wardrobe and your video came in a perfect time for it! 🎉
And guess what - now that I've opened the app again, I see that I already have a collection called 'Fall 2024', probably I missed creating digital outfits so much at some point that I started in advance 😂 I totally forgot about it.
I think I've been off for a while mostly because I haven't been on any trips lately. The packing list is indeed an incredible feature and I'd have used it if I went anywhere. The calendar comes in very handy for planning outfits for each part of the trip and every activity!
I have trouble documenting shoes and accessories though, because most outfits allow variations. To document all the ideas you either create too many very similar outfits or I sometimes just put 2-3 shoe-bag options on the same layout (but then it's not very practical for the calendar and the calculations of cost per wear).
I am also thinking of creating a special 'Collection' for belts/scarves and jewellery and make it a habit to go check it out every time I create an outfit, otherwise I tend to forget about these accessories at all 😞

I’ve been using a wardrobe app for over a decade and can’t imagine being without it. In addition to all the great features mentioned in this video, I reference it whenever I’m shopping to see if I already have something similar (avoids duplicate purchases) or if the item I’m contemplating will coordinate with what I already own. I also upload images from the internet for inspiration and LOVE the packing list feature! (I also add notes like sunscreen, phone cables, medication etc. so it’s a comprehensive packing list). When I first uploaded images it served as a good reality check/purge for my wardrobe (I.e.: if I didn’t like something enough to take a photo and upload it, it went to the donate pile). If I can’t find an image of the item on line I tend to hang garments for photos bc I prefer the look (it’s a personal preference). I’ve got *everything* in my app including lingerie, jewelry . . . Anything I wear). So, yes, can’t rave enough about wardrobe apps. GAME CHANGER!!
