Oh yea brings back memories of when I was in the U. S. Army. After we installed the deep water fording kit, oh yea we had to try it out! The kit consisted of the exhaust stack, an intake snorkel and an air pressure line that connected to the water resistant bell housing, with the positive air pressure in the bell housing, helped keep the clutch dry! That kit gave the truck a 9' depth rating!! If the water was that deep, you were instructed to set the hand throttle, then the seat bottom folded back so you could stand up and drive! Even the gas, called Mogas vehicles could do that with the kits! As they had sealed waterproof ignition systems.
This is awesome! Someone had a military deuce not far from where I live. I go to work and I sometimes see it in a bean field with a big water tank in the back. I've been heading to work and seen it driving on the highway, it's a BEAST!
Well, that's one way to wash a deuce inside AND out at the same time..hahaha.. I don't think I've ever seen a truck tow a boat...WHILE IN THE WATER.. hahaha This was some good stuff.. thanks for posting..👍👍👍
That is one of the greatest comments by a parent I have ever heard. I saw a chunky kid walking his bike downhill while eating an ice cream cone and texting... Then you have kids scuba-diving, plane-flying & hunting. Excellent! May I adopt you as my auxiliary father?
The road to my camp floods when the MS river rises (usually in the Spring) Sometimes you can go by car; other times by boat; sometimes neither. This is because some of the road is too deep for a truck, and some of the road is high and dry (keeps boats from making it all the way). During this time, no one else can get there (unless you have an airboat that you don't mind sledding across a gravel road for a half mile or so)
Real Southern Dad there, we did the same thing after Sandy brushed our coast, water came up to 61/2 feet, Deuce and a 1/2 got us and 4 others out. God bless the US Army auctions!!
This is awesome. Those trucks are built like tanks. All you would've needed to do was dry out your seat. I hope to own one of my own someday and would like to get a multi fuel one.
Now that's four wheelin'!!! I drove those trucks for almost 10 years in the army, even had one that had a turbo engine and I can definitely say that I never got stuck. I love those monsters. I wish I could have one :).
Nice video, brought back memories of my service time. I did notice the route you took was a very smooth bottom, so a flooded road perhaps? And the kicker is this is done as stock no special lift kits, additions just an old mule doing her job as designed from the factory! :)
James Taylor "What a total Moron, totally." said the brain in a box who never strays from manuals or directions and just assumes that the driver gives a shit about his city slicker opinions. Open your mind and stop clinging to the status quo.
These kids are experienced swimmers and actually scuba dive. We are traversing a hard gravel road that floods annually in the spring. The purpose of the trip is to check on my camp and to do a little hunting. I pride myself in safely exposing my kids to things that even most adults never get a chance to experience. Good parenting? You're damn right!!! How many 8 and 10 year olds can say they've flown a plane or driven a deuce and a half? I guess I could get them some vagisil and a video ga
Looks like that when I go cruising after a hurricane. Taught my nephew how to drive stick in my Duece. I learned in a Honda Civic and I remember that day. I'm sure he won't forget the Deuce he learned in!
being deep enough to use the boat, but still driving anyway = winning. This kind of reminds me the first time my dad ever launched our boat with me in the truck. I was freaking out, thinking he was going to sink the truck. But now that I'm older, I launch our boat at least once a week in the summer like it's second nature haha
love deuces... aslong as that intake is above whatever your doing your fine... saw one get stuck in low tide sand just cause it was so heavy but that's bout it... they don't make trucks like that anymore
Used to make a fuel run 2 times a week with 2 500 gal blivets in the back. Stop at the bank, reach up and put my smokes and wallet on the roof, hit the diff pressure, and drive on across, water up to my shirt pocket.
Not surprised at all!. It's one amazing vehicle!.. I've seen one practically climb up A damn tree before!. It's definitely on my list of, I must own this before I croak!. LOL
@@nighthawkrandy I want to buy one for my father so bad because he's wanted one for as long as I can remember. He just turned 65 in October and I hope that I can track down one in good shape that is ready to go but doesn't cost more than $20k. I haven't been keeping track of the prices for awhile now and don't know if I'm being cheap or if that's really reasonable. If you have any ideas on where to look I'd definitely appreciate it.
I found mine on Craigslist this spring got a really good deal 1970 nice shape no rust winch. all new brake cylinders wheel seals had been done.90% tread tires , 27000 miles. Only driven in parades by one owner since military always shedded. He was asking $5,000 he took $4,500. It was 250 miles away I drove it home. I know a guy in Blairstown Iowa who has 50 or 60 deuces for sale I could give you his info
MS? I thought for sure your were in LA when I saw the LSU shirt. I'm watching for me a Deuce & Half or a 5ton. Seen a few nice ones but they're always way up north and I don't care for making a 1200 mile road trip in one. May have to hire a transport to haul one down here. Great video and yes these old trucks are built like, well army trucks! And I love the sound of those whistlers!
Looks like fun!!!! I had wondered how you did not get stuck until I had read that your on a road.............How cool, would have loved to have gotten my feet wet.
Great video minus screaming kids.. I've wanted a deuce for sometime now. Can justify to spend the money on a nice one, and can't find a half decent one for a good price.
Haha, when I was watching the video I said "Damn, that looks like home." Then I saw the LSU T-Shirt and said "Oh shit, it is home!" Am from Abita, so it's a bit of a small-ish world I suppose. Love the Deuce.
Deuce and halfs are BEAST. Nothing can basically stop them, including if they have the solid tires like the old military jeeps, now days they dont have the solid tires unless their used in the military.
We loved them because it meant we didn't have to walk! I have lots of pre-dawn memories of riding in the back, and driving one loaded down on a 300 mile trip through mountains. Lots of gear shifting that day!
Ahhh good times. I love my deuce, other than when it floods around here and I'm the one that jag offs who build houses on flood plains look too for rescue.
+clay tullos did a little research, i knew it was a cat that came in these trucks, but i wasnt sure which one, and i had to re-read what was said, the only way that truck could have an 8.3 Cummins would be if the owner put one in it himself

Holy crap, someone who actually uses his Deuce the way it was meant!
Love the water coming over the dashboard.
Them kids will never forget that ride. Real cool. Nice truck.
Those....
"aww shit the boat engine died again, well better call dave and his big ass truck to come get us".
Lmao! To funny you would never expect that
Yet another reason I need a deuce and a half.
Do you have to cross the Mississippi to get to work or something?
I keep telling my wife that very thing
That's a good idea - she might want a deuce of her own too. This way you get to have two of them - there's always room for another deuce. :)
I like the way you entertain your children. Im sure they wont forget it.
Tomek_PL amen to that
Actually, the trailer is there. I just had to unstrap the boat from the trailer to keep it from sinking the boat or floating the trailer.

It may have broke down and someone called the guy with the deuce to come get them out.
IECujo Shit, the boat broke down! Better call Bill to have him drive his big ass truck out here to tow us home!
Just in case the kids were right :-)
What's the boat for? 7 feet of water!
incase they get unlikely get stuck XD
Awesome video. Thanks for sharing. I used to drive an M109 in the Army. 93P. I would love to get one now and convert it to an overland motorhome.
In part 2 the boat tow's the truck on the road! Lol
Lol 😂

And that right there is a Tutorial to how to clean your deuce

Exactly right. It is a flooded gravel road that I am very familiar with. No holes (as long as you know where you are going.

So is there a special modification to the truck or is that just normal? This was great.
Home made fording kit allowing up to 6' of water
Ft. Adams, MS. It is a flooded gravel road. During some times of the year, it is the only way to my camp.
The truck is not even breaking a sweat..its happy..
This is awesome, great video! Kids will not forget this one. Creating memories, thats what its all about.
FOR SALE CHEAP....DEUCE 1/2 ....JUST WASHED CLEAN THROUGHOUT...RUNS GREAT....0_O
well all it needs is a clean air intake and an open exhaust pipe

I'm from Baton Rouge, but my property is in MS just north of Baton Rouge in the MS River flood plain. Geaux Tigers!

Ah, memories! Spent a lot of time riding and driving those old war horses!
