Both my daughters had silkies when they were little and they loved them to bits, the silkies loved cuddles and hugs all the times. My girls called they're's Effie and Fifi. If you're wondering, I'd say 2 silkie eggs 1 large chook egg. Great job Simon. Seeya Rob

She does love a cuddle. My original girls are giving her a bit of a hard time but getting better each day. Another week or so they should all be back in harmony. This Leghorn however. 1 Egg = 2 Isa Brown Eggs and White.

Australia has the most varied, loud and beautiful birds on the planet! I’m happy the new chickens are now settled, isn’t it funny though, the new red one took the job as Queen? That one chicken always comes running when the man has a shovel, it just makes me laugh! The dogs are amazing with the chickens too, sweet of them, loved the part when the white dog came for some pets, so adorable. The greenhouse will be a nice addition to your beautiful garden, you’ve really transformed the property, now it’s hard to imagine what it was before you started.

Yep. That one chicken is called Trouble. Never far away and as soon as I disturb anything she runs over to investigate. I do feed her grubs and worms when I find them so she is not silly. If my Golden retriever (White One) had her choice she would be leaning on me for pats 24/7. Last spring was very cold so my summer crop never really took hold. Need to give it a head start in the Greenhouse. Maybe a larger one in the future for all year around growing.

Hey Simon!! I have a silkie just like yours. I call her "Crazy hair - I don't care". She goes broody at the drop of a hat. She's even hatched some duck eggs I put under her. I'm not sure, but it looks like you could use a few more supervisors on the project - lol. I call them my soil engineers as they rearrange my soil all the time. The framing is coming along smartly and those parrots are absolutely beautiful. Were you able to solve your rat problem with the re-engineering of the gardens? I am overrun with mice at the moment. It's my own fault, I left bags of chicken food out and they saw it as a buffet. I've gone to storing feed in 50 gallon garbage bins. I can get about 10 bags in the 2 bins I have. With the price going higher and higher, every time I empty a bag I buy a new one and rotate them in the bin. I have to ensure I don't run out, my ladies are very special to me. Plus, if things get much worse, they might have to be dinner one day. I don't know how things are going down there, but it's terrible here. Fuel prices, worker shortages, businesses shutting down, lack of food, it's becoming scary. Will you try to do some winter gardening in the new greenhouse or is it just for sprouting plants earlier in the season? Hope you and the family are doing well, blessings always, g.

I like the name. They do have crazy hair. Rats are locked out of the new beds so all good there thankfully. Winter crops are unmolested. Mice issue sounds very familiar. Good luck with getting them under control. I wish cats could be left out to sort out the mice without the risk of them getting the local wild birds. Unfortunately if food resources get that bad we need to do what we need to do however distasteful. We are a ways from this here however. Just need to select your groceries carefully and supplement where you can. At least I have a good egg supply for the neighbors. Winter crops are in and the green house will be ready for preparing the spring planting as last spring was very cold and the garden did not do well. A larger greenhouse is on the agenda for winter gardening. Blessings to you and family also.

@@simonhahnel8092 Yes, we had a difficult Spring and a very late start to the planting season. This Summer has proven to be even worse in the reverse with weather conditions. The heat indexes have been in the triple digits (f). for weeks and with little rain, I'm afraid I'm not going to get enough of a harvest to preserve much this year. Now that it's just me, I have enough food that I have canned to last me until next summer. I only hope the weather will cooperate next Summer or I'm going to be in deep trouble. I would LOVE to have a greenhouse and I have the room, but at 70 I'm not sure there would be sufficient R O I. My time is getting shorter and my stamina isn't what it used to be. We just have to do our best and leave the rest to the Almighty. I look forward to seeing your winter garden and your harvest. I am interested if you plant veg that we are not accustomed to in the U.S. Take care my YT friend. Blessings to you and the family, g.

I do have a nice flat area that will be perfect for a larger one. Just need to convince the Boss.
