My kit, iphone 13 pro, Smallrig cage, Moment 1.33 anamorphic lens and Tiffen Black Pro Mist 1/4 filter all weigh 373 grams. I was able to mount this on the Zhiyun Smooth 5 :). Sorry for my english i am old date. Greetings from Poland.

I have the Smallrig setup for my iPhone 12 Pro Max. I am getting a different smallrig cage for my new iPhone 14 pro max. I do recommend 2 or dual handles one on each side. That make a real difference. Smallrig does make a handle which a intergraded hot shoe mount.

hello! can I use beast grip Pro Series 1.7X Telephoto Lens on a small rig universal? would you advise me to use this Pro Series 1.7X Telephoto Lens over fishcam?
I'm trying to locate the same top handle you have. It seems to be the same price as the case for the iPhone 12 Pro Max. Not sure if they all work with this Specific cage

The wooded handles are a bit more comfortable to hold if you want to pay a little more for them.

Sometimes just the phone camera app, other Times I like to use Filmic Pro
Wish they allow to hold vertical/ pot rat and shoot landscape

This looks like a great solution. My only criticisms of cages like this is that if you swap your phone yearly as I do, it can’t really be used with a new phone will different design. Great walkthrough! Thanks
ah but then you can upgrade to the new phone and use the old one as a dedicated camera :) Apps like filmic pro can benefit here as you can monitro from a 2nd phone and even pull focus. The only problem with all of this is that it's possibly cheaper to get a real camera and real focus system, but there is a decent geek factor using your phones
I would normally agree with you. However in this instance you’ll have all the accessories and the cage only is 40ish. Most people would spend that plus buy few more cases every time they upgrade phones. Just something to think about.
Note that Smallrig makes a universal cage that'll fit almost any smartphone. The only downside is that it needs to be larger, but that means more room for accessories. I have one and love it.
Is the cage itself something you could leave on all the time ? Or is it really too bulky
I have mine on the phone all the time. It’s quite light weight and not as bulky as it seems. Just need a new one for the 15 pro max I just got ;)

Holding anything far from the center of gravity is not adding stability. Quite the opposite. The whole principle off a steadicam, fort example, is handling the rig from it's center of gravity. What helps here, though, is having a better grip of the thing.
yes you're correct. the key to dynamis stability ismoving the centre of mass - and thus the center of rotation away from the lens. also homan arms are the world best isoelastic arms :)
can i use only cage daily for iphone 13 pro max?
definitely! - it doen't add a huge weight, the buttons still work cleanly and it protects the phone really well.
Gimbal or cage??? For iPhone 14 pro max
Depends what you’re shooting at the time :) gimbal will give you much smoother shots. Cage gives you accessory mount points and protection
