I used to laugh when Dave Ramsey ranted on credit cards. For two decades I was the guy who paid my balance every month and got cash back. Smart me! After life happened, I'm not laughing anymore. Dave was right all along.

Reminds me of when I worked at Disneyworld. They had a Swarovski gift card. It was a gift card with the studs on it. And in the display description it says its for you to buy and display only. Not to be used as a gift card. Cost $100. Its a $20 gift card. 🙄

I love how the only place I've seen anything about the new Apple card is from people like Dave saying that it's a terrible idea, lol.
I'm in agreement with most of what Dave preaches. But does Dave really go inside and pay with cash after he buys gas? I operate my own business and need to buy all kinds of supplies online from various suppliers almost daily. I don't even think paying with cash is an option for these things. Paying with credit card also documents my expenses and makes end of year reporting fairly easy.
That's what a debit card is for! Preferably from a second account for the business stuff.
Why is using a credit card bad ? I use it just for gas and pay the bill off in full at the ending of the month? my credit score is great and I get 2% cash back ?
Hector Apolonio same I just got the Apple Card, I only use my cards for gas and stuff that I plan on paying off the same month. Never let any balance roll over to the next month. I guess a lot of people don’t have the self discipline to do that though.
The Dave Ramsey ideology is pretty strict and he just doesn't believe in it. From a realistic point of view, using it the way you explained is fine and great for building credit which you need to buy a home, car, etc.

The Uber Successful They start sending credit card offers before you turn 18. Even if it's not "inspiring" to you, he's doing better than a lot of people our age and younger. It seems you're salty, it's not because of credit card debt do you lol?
The legal way? Lol. Credit cards are legal. You just gotta be intelligent with them and you get great advantages.
My wife and I when married for 7 years (53 years this month) started flipping real estate when you were 13 years old. We made a lot of money doing so, never had to go bankrupt, have an 800+ credit score, put three children through college with no student loans (we advanced them $200,000 each for school and living expenses), two are RN's working in major hospitals, and the other can no longer do so due to health reasons. We are completely debt free, and can call ourselves low end millionaires. We also devised, on our own, all of the steps you now teach others. We have no inherited money, Lotto winnings, etc Now , our philosophy re credit cards. They are a tool. Their reports make up a large percentage of your FICO score. Some places only take plastic. Except for a business which only takes plastic, or for an emergency where we can't get to our "cash stash" we use our credit cards as cash cards. We pay off any balance before the end of the billing period. If you care to interview us I'll be sending contact information.

I disagree that credit cards are a curse, if you’re smart about it they’re very helpful! I’m 22 and my credit score is in the 740s and rising. I only buy something on a credit card if I have the money sitting in the bank to pay it off that day. I have 4 credit cards and the only time I use my Apple credit card is if the company accepts apply pay (so that I can get the 2% cash back when you pay with Apple Pay) my Apple Card sits in my dresser, so I didn’t buy it for looks. When I’m ready to request a loan to buy a house I’ll be happy that I started building my credit at 18 instead of 28.
Avoid credit card debt like the plague. Learn investing!

Been using credit cards with zero debt for over 25 years and saving/investing since 10th grade.
Already contributed $22k to my 401k so far this year with a $51k goal and finished maxing my 2019 Roth IRA contributions back in January.
Completely debt free and also save/invest at least $1500/mo. to regular accounts and $500/mo. to emergency fund.

I PAY MY BILL IN FULL BEFORE MY BILL IS EVEN MADE.

Part of the point of the Apple Card though is that you don’t need the titanium card with you; you’re supposed to use the digital version in your phone. You even get less rewards when you swipe the physical card.

I really admire the look of my CCs. After I canceled them I used them for target practice. I keep one in my wallet and one pinned on my corkboard on my office. Symbols of when I finally broke free and got out of debt never to go into debt again.

Took my Apple Card to an industrial shredder about a month ago with no regrets.
Actually apple is putting out this statement because there will be people trying to sue them because of those things. They are protecting themselves. I thought Dave would be smart enough to see that instead of just making a video bashing it.
Titanium is actually soft (according to a Rockwell reading) as steel just a 1/4 of the weight. The high nickel content in the metal makes it abrasive to manufacture which is where it becomes so “exotic” and “special”.
It should come with a flask to put my Bacardi 151 in. 😆

It’s a status symbol. Not meant to be used physically; the purpose is to encourage Apple Pay usage, not to actually be used as a physical card.

Got the card! Its pretty cool. Guys lets stop being cowards and blaming credit cards for the reason people are in debt. People themselves are the reason why they're in debt. Lack of discipline and accountability. Credit cards, while not necessary to have, can be beneficial if you're a proper functioning adult who can pay their bills in full and on time. Credit cards will not make you a millionaire!!! But they also don't prevent you from being one!!!

This is my first RUclips comment probably ever and while I typically agree with you Dave I'd have to say I don't think the Apple Card deserves the slander it's been getting.
While I do understand credit cards are EXTREMELY dangerous if not used properly there is also a large percent of us who do use them right and pay them off in full every single month. If you can't afford the pay your card every single month USE DEBIT ONLY.
In my wallet currently I carry an Amex Platinum, Chase Sapphire Reserve, Apple Card, and a Capital One Venture because they work for me and my travel. Recently, I was in Los Cabos at the Villa del Palmar and handed over my Chase card to pay for our dining bill by the pool - after about 25 minutes they bring me my card back as if it was completely normal and the entire trip I sat around checking my statement for any signs of fraud.. For the record I would have done this ANYWHERE in the world if they had my card for 25+ minutes. It was probably just a currency conversion issue as they show you the price in peso/USD and charge it as USD in Mexico but it was enough for me to lose my peace of mind for the entire duration of the trip. This is where I wish I had the Apple Card.
Apple Card has no annual fee, no physical numbers on the card, no international fees, great credit limit, awesome design, instant cash back, and amazing in-app functionality that hopefully more banks will use as I believe they are making the wallet view that Apple Card has as an API/SDK for other banks. If someone does happen to get the actual card number you can simply request a new number within the app and you basically have a new card within having to a wait a day or two for a normally issuers shipping.
I do agree that the care instructions for the card are absolutely ridiculous and many people will get the card just because of how it looks which I will never fully understand; However let's approach this with an open mind and understand that there's some of us out there who will actually get the card for what it offers, not for how it looks. It's a great addition to any wallet if you have other cards you use for certain things. It's often compared to with the Citi Double cash and I can personally say they have some of the worst customer service I have ever experienced so I'll take the loss of rewards for simplicity and peace of mind every time.
This is my honest review of why it works for me and the upside many people seem to be ignoring. I'm not an Apple Fanboy in anyway and still prefer my Windows PC over iOS but a good product is a good product despite what the companies tactics may be :)

I own around 10 cc, all with different purposes, all paid with high limits, helping boost my credit. With all due respect, your comment that they are bad is ignorant. And no, I am not getting that card, the venue backing that card is not even average when compared with high end cards from issuers such as AMEX.
And yes, I am winning. I make 180k a year, have no cc debt and I am done paying my student loans. I use cc every day and pay them every week. It’s true I don’t get them based on looks, but on their perks. You’re a smart old man, but you are very ignorant when it comes to credit card advice lol.
