Obtaining at least basic financial skills/wisdom is a critical life skill, yet one which schools tend to completely ignore.
Every school should ensure that every child learns at least the basics. That's far more important than yet another dry reading of some classic play or novel.

My wife and I owe between two mortgages 310k But one is an income creating property so our goal is to have them both paid off with in 7 to 10 years. And yes it can create much stress but now that we are on a system of a debit snowball it helps to lesson the stress knowing that we are deleting our debit on an increasingly faster and faster pace. We cant wait until we can scream the debit free scream.

I paid off a credit card last year then cancelled it and I was contemplating if I should go into my bank account to pay off all my student loan debt but wanted to just let minimum payment payout because I wanted to have money in my bank account still. After watching Dave's videos and starting to realize that I was being STUPID because by letting the interest grow I am pretty much doubling my student load payments. I decided to pay off everything and even though I am starting to build my money from scratch again I am glad to say that as of yesterday, I AM NO LONGER IN DEBT AND DEBT FREE. One goal accomplished now it's time to build wealth freely and without any stupid debts.

We have taken the class 3 times now and hope to facilitate it after we have our house paid off. Our future looks brighter now.

This is what my well intentioned parents taught me:
“We don’t do art as anything more than a hobby. It’s play and nothing more. It doesn’t pay and it’s very important that we make a good living and take care of ourselves independently. It is abhorrent to be a burden to anyone else. “
“We don’t start businesses or become entrepreneurs. There is too much risk. You won’t have healthcare. You’ll probably be a failure anyway. “
“Get a college degree and work for the man. Contribute to your 401k”
“Finance your education, your house, and your vehicle. “
“You need to establish good credit. “
“It’s ok to hate your job. Everyone hates their job. Get over it.”
“Being your own boss is the most overrated thing in the world.”

My wife and I are too shy to apply to do a debt free scream, but I wanted to send this your way anyway. Because you helped us kick debt to the curb, she is now a stay at home mom. Our 1 yr old replaced our student loans in our budget! Totally worth the 2 years of hamburger helper and deep sacrifices. We kept expenses for 2 people under 1k/month. Now we are able to give a child the life she deserves instead of giving it all to banks!

As a 23 year old college graduate, I come back to this video to remind me of my goals and to keep me motivated to follow the plan to become financially independent. Nothing will stop me from reaching those goals
UPDATE: I'm now 25 years old and paid off all of my student loan debt totalling $58,000 and am officially debt free! Took 2.5 years from getting out of college to accomplish this. My 6 month emergency fund is already funded and currently saving up for a 20% down payment on a single family home. Based on my estimates I should have the downpayment in a year and a few months if everything goes to plan and even sooner if I can get a promotion at my current employer.
I know that others read these comments for motivation for their own journey to wealth and I will continue coming back to update this comment periodically as things change! Best of luck everyone.

Having no debt is the greatest feeling there is. No mortgage payments , nor car payments, I feel like I m a free man, and freedom has no price. I cherish it every single day and thank God of being in that position. It takes discipline, sacrifices and the will to succeed. If I did it anyone can. It s not a matter of luck ( I have 3 jobs, but jobs I enjoy doing ) , just pure drive and good planning. Have a vision and see what needs to be done to achieve it, one step at a time.
