  • Aprilia and reliability do not typically go hand in hand. How has relability been on the RS 600? I share an update on what has been going on with my RS 660 and why I am not currently riding it!

    When I bought my 23 660 the service department said they got a notification from Aprilia to make sure to torque the oil pan bolts down to spec before they sold the bikes that was in march. Probably just need the retorque and your food to go. Prob change the oil too. Older oil becomes less viscous which can allow it to seep out of gaskets that newer oil may not have.

    • @SK_XIII

      Damn, that's kinda sad to hear, but at least they are aware that it's an issue. Good call on the oil! Lets see what happens and go from there 👌

    One of my riding buddies makes fun of my zx6r but I’ve never had a problem with it, and he’s been out of service lately because of his RS 660 having issues.

    Sorry to hear you are experiencing the oil issue. I need to check my bike (2021 - 8500 miles), I did notice that I had some grease on that area from the front sprocket, drip down, so, on the left side, does look a little like yours. Around the kick stand area. But I have not had any drips. Let me know what the dealer found. Also, are you burning through oil?

    • @SK_XIII
      @SK_XIII  Год назад

      Luckily mine isn't burning any oil. I used to check pretty often when I first got it, but not so much these days.

    Im on my second rs 660 after my first got totalled. Both had minor oil leaks. From what the dealer said was over-torquing from the factory. hopefully they just slap a new gasket on there and your good to go. My leak came from the same spot both times. Hard to say from the pictures you showed, but looked very similar to mine.

    • @SK_XIII
      @SK_XIII  Год назад

      I guess that's kind of good and bad to hear. If it is a case of bolts needing to be torqued to spec, I'll take that any day vs actual engine issues. Hope yours is running strong now!

    My RS660 also have the same quickshifter issue. My bike have the issue after the aprilia race ECU and modified rearset installed. After testing I found the quickshifter issue only comes when the first gear shift after the bike power-on is made with quickshifter. If you make the first shift manually with clutch, the error will not show. Someone on the net says that the issue is the reversed gear shift mode is triggered.

    • @SK_XIII
      @SK_XIII  Год назад

      Mine happens even when I clutch in to shift to 2nd as the first shift. But I will admit, it does happen a lot less manually clutching in vs using QS for the first shift. Nonetheless, it happens pretty infrequently. Yup, the computer is glitching into thinking it has GP shift when it doesn't lol smh

  • @ItzCashew

    The nut behind the oil filter is notorious for getting loose as well. It needs to be torqued to spec.

    I own Tuono 660 Factory. It has around 6200 on the clock. Only issue I had with the bike is the fan, it came broken from the factory so the engine was overheating and it would shut down in the traffic (dealer got me a new fan and it's working just fine). Quickshifter on this bike is very clunky, sometimes it's smooth and sometimes you have to really press hard. Best thing about this bike is the handling and how playful ot feels on the twisty roads. I might swap it out for the new MT-09 tho, bit more power and new bodywork looks sick.

    Hey brother, how are you? Sorry to hear about your leaky problem, but I recently had the same thing happen, and all it was was tightening and retorquing down the oil pan bolt. No leaks after that. So routinely that will just have to be checked. You know, parallel twin seems to vibrate more than other bikes from what I hear and maybe it just backed itself out a little bit. Other than that the problem has been fixed. On another note, though this is surprising and nobody in RUclips or Instagram or any social media has come up with this that I’ve seen yet. While riding my bike and getting into it going through the gears top end speeds m/high rpm and all of a sudden I have no throttle the bike stopped giving power the bike still stayed on and a big red flashing awareness comes across my screen, ATC disabled, which is as you know Aprilia Traction Control. So I downshifted into lower gears and was able to regain throttle. I did it again back to back and the same thing happened. It totally cut the power from the engine while the engine remains on. While the RPMs are revving out, the bike seems to not pull any faster and stays at that speed, and then the RPMs drop and then regain like if it was starting over and it starts to raise on its own. Also my mile an hour dropped almost instantaneously trickling backwards, down to zero, while I was obviously going way faster Than indicated. It does not happen in low rpm or low speeds only when you’re getting in it to win it. If you catch my drift. So I have a service appointment this week Wednesday. I’m hoping they find the problem. I hope it’s just a sensor like our speed sensors That are maybe too far away from the disk on our rims. It may just needs a simple adjustment. Other than that I’ve already been in contact with Aprilia, and they will make contact with the mechanic at my dealership at the same time and walk through the procedure to figure out what’s going on. Hopefully there’s a code that pops up in the computer and was registered. Let’s keep our fingers crossed because I still love this bike.

    • @SK_XIII
      @SK_XIII  Год назад

      Wow that sound really dangerous. I have heard of something similar on the forums or FB, but can't remember exactly what the issue was. Sounds like a sensor issue based on the description, but yeah I hope the ECU stored a code or something for them to pull. Keep us updated mate!

    Man, it seems all their bikes have some known issues. My new Tuono V4 overheats if sitting at a red light too long. Checked the forums and its a known and common issue, people add third fans to the radiator, make heatshields for the headers and change coolant to fix a problem the bike shouldn't have in the first place. How can they sell their flagship bikes with such stupid fixable issues? I kind of regret my purchase now.

    Dude, you make me feel that my reliable (so far- knock on wood) Tuono 660 Factory is gonna have all sorts of mystery issues!!! Every single bike ive ever owned has has something go whacky. Sure, it seems like you're 2k mi. Away when it happens- but, there's a forum fix that makes sure it never happens again. Less doom/gloom, maybe even some patience with newer bike glitches? Seen @ EICMA in 2019, somehow, so non QC'd bikes got here needing replacement engines. Not cool for us, financially devestating to a smaller Italian boutique bike builder. I think Aprilia stepped up. Prolly wouldnt have considered it without some of the early trials & Aprilia's responses. Rethink your position a little.
