I’ve had the RSQ3 for 3 years now and with no issues, regularly serviced and performs well… can’t fault it and it’s an improvement on the R32 VW previously owned. What’s the problem.. access is good
Don’t think I’ve ever watched a review of this car. Glad I’m not the only one who initially had very mixed emotions on this vehicle. Glad my opinion on it has shifted in recent years, because those Performance models were stellar.
I went to the unveiling of the Q3 Sportback, and I especially like the RSQ3 Sportback, just gives it that sporty vibe whilst being an SUV out of all things, with 400hp non the less
I like how the owner is comfortable enough with knowing they're basically driving a skip, that they don't bother to clean the interior before handing the car over to James for those lovely close up shots of copious amounts of dust, thier half empty packet of mints and the unsold items from thier recent stand at the local Car Boot. Still, it's always nice to get an insight into something i've never had any desire to sit in, so thanks for letting us see it!

Fun car. The de-badgging is good, I'd probably do the same for the front grille and just have it all blacked mesh. The light blue is a really nice sublime and relaxing colour. Nice video. Keep up the good work.
First time I saw the Q3, it reminded me of an old fashion pram.. Definitely prefer the latest Q3 and definitely love that 5 cylinder sound of the RS3/Q3..
just get 2012 s4 avant manual 400bhp for 15 grand and remap, handles like it's on rails, gearbox is great, stealth cool factor (especially debadged) and does 0-60 in the four's and 186mph with the space for the dog and 4wd... use the money you saved for a boxter/cayman/exige/k20 elise and you have perfect 2 car fleet for 30k, now you just need to get them through mot's 😄
The S4 wasn't available in a manual from the middle of 2011 and they are pretty rare, you might 1 or 2 the were late reg'd on 61 plates but good look finding a clean manual of any age. I spent ages looking for one, and I don't mean car browsing I mean test driving. The DSG is nightmare waiting to haunt you unless its 14 onward and they are pretty much at the bottom end of B9 money.
My mum used to have one of these -- I was always constantly confused as to what it was trying to do...but it was nice --- it had some good options and overall, it wasn't an awful car in some respects. The boot though, that was awful. Was it an RS? Hmm...not really. An SQ3 with 5 cylinders more like.
i have a 2.0 tsi version of this pushing around 300hp, its a great platform for drag racing and the gearbox is amazingly reliable, for me the ground clearence whas the reason why i got this over an s3 or a gti mk7 and yes the s3 is faster but not the gti from a dig, it is a sleeper as well and i love when i beat other cars in my "mamas car", yes the suspension is terrible and it should be stiffer but thats an easy fix
So it's less practical, slower, has worse economy and handling than a B9 S4 Avant? I'm afraid your not selling it for me. There is a 2015 one for £25,700 so not far off the price of an B9 S4.
I hate crossovers as much as anyone else but imagine putting on some thicker tires and throwing this down a dirt road. This is the closest thing you can get to the Ur-Quattro. And don’t get me started on the manual AWD CX-30
...the biggest problem of this car is its alternative called A4 Avant Allroad that has all prons of good Audiness and no drawbacks of bold mutant Q3....
it's got the same problem as all small crossovers, in that they're completely pointless to me, this is at least a bit unique in a weird pointless way, but honestly a normal hatch back just makes more sense to me. As for the in-between size SUVs of which there are way too many now (Audi Q5 Honda CRV, Range Rover Evoque/Velar, Kia Sportage, the list goes on) that people buy 'because I needed more interior space' basically all of them are soundly beaten on every front by an estate car, which lets be honest if practicality is your main concern (a quality often for some reason praised for these SUVs) then the estate car is king, they're the ultimate jack of all trades cars, always have been, always will be
This is a car bought with your partner who is adamant they need an SUV. I wouldn't matter what logic or facts you used to show it had no more space , it's higher and that's that. In reality you get the rs3 with only a few compromises ...the rs3 is all about the engine as well, it's not a great drive.
Exactly! Literally bought one for the wife, because all she wanted was an SUV 😂. Tried in vain to get her to do a wagon/estate instead, but wouldn't budge. The result, a 5 pot SUV as the middle ground. And honestly, it is a fun car and that 5 pot is just so special. However I'd never buy one just for me and neither would most car guys 😂.

Personally I wouldn't buy one but it's a misinformed argument to say " just buy an rs3?" Most purchases of this size are made together and practically, or the illusion of it is important to families

So it's a great compromise for us, as realistically it's her car that she drives 90% of the time to work etc. and then when we are out together I still get to drive something not totally bland and boring.

Audi largely redeemed themselves in all departments with the latest RSQ3 after this particular model was such a let down and mostly forgotten as an after thought in the RS lineup.
As a previous owner of a performance version, I can honestly say I loved it, the engine note, yes stifled too much but was always addictive. My wife wanted a small SUV, I wanted a hot hatch, criteria sorted. The real issue was the new RSQ3, we had a sport back with so called “sports exhaust”, thinking no fake tail pipes, we were totally wrong plus the car is, and I can honestly say from an ex owners point of view, was the worse car I have ever owned. Boosting the power up to 400 did something to the drivability, the interior was a step back in terms of quality and feel and the overall opinion at the price was why did we and why would anyone buy one? Glad to say we got rid and now have separate cars again 😂

The problem with this car is that it has been continued. Every """coupe""" rsq3 I encounter feels like a little defeat to the car world. I like the understated look of this one and to each their own, but the new model is like a compact joke, it looks like an rsq8 until you realise it is tiny and lifted with enormous wheels.
Driven all the new Audi's and not impressed compared to other cars. No steering feel boring shapes. interior is ok ISH. Rather have a beemer or a Merc or a Hyundai

I would like opinions. Why spend a bazillion dollars on a boring bland looking car that goes under the radar? What's the appeal? This definitely seems like a more European thing from the many RUclips videos I watch but can apply around the world. Everybody knows the car you bought is expensive but the average person just doesn't even know what it is. If you want to blend in get a top trim Golf, Camry, or CRV or something. I get we all have different tastes but I just find that interesting. Why buy a bland looking car? Granted I guess the other end of the spectrum is stuff from China where the cars are kinda outrageous sometimes cause everybody wants to stand out or something with their massive grills. So why not buy a happy medium?
With the car crime in the UK and EU, having a car that is fast and doesnt draw too much attention is not a bad security measure. Everyone knows a RS3 when they see it, and the crims do aswell....this, no one looks twice at it.

The engine is so characterful but I struggle to see why anyone would need that extra 10% of space versus an RS3 of the same age.
I guess this point stands versus almost any compact SUV though.

With the car crime in the UK and EU, having a car that is fast and doesnt draw too much attention is not a bad security measure. Everyone knows a RS3 when they see it, and the crims do aswell....this, no one looks twice at it.
Because the less flashy your car is, the less attention it will bring. Nothing gets the cops to stop more than a flashy car.

@@baronvonjo1929 not many car thieves are a walking car wiki....they see a Q3 from a distance and ignore it. they see a RS3, jackpot. Unless they are strolling up and down a car park looking highly suspicious, they wont go for a Q3. If you cant understand that, well then.....
