Points to note Sections First section- Ear to nape Second section -Ear to temple Top section - Crown of head Ear to nape Once you are confident with the section secure it out of the way. Ear to temple Since everyone's hairline is different try to line the temple with the center of each eyebrow Align the comb horizontally and connect it to each side. Middle section Separate it into two parts. Tip:Use the tail of comb for parting long lines and use the tooth end for fine detailed work . Symmetry parts Turn the comb vertically and part downwards to create the other box. To have even boxes Locate the mid point of the nape and create a vertical line to endure an even distribution on each side Work your way upwards with a standard brick lay method. To maintain symmetry create vertical lines on the second row that cut right down the middle of each box on the bottom row Note: For symmetry box it's best to start with the foundation of an even row of boxes because boxes have four sides and four angles. Triangle parts Since triangles have three sides and three angles , it's best to start the foundation of the row with an odd number such as 3,5,7,9.... to have points that you can match the triangles to as you move up in the rows.
As a male, I have had to learn to do my daughters hair since her mother is no longer in the picture. These videos have been a huge help!! Thank you so much!!
I received my license in 1999 and as the years passed by I left the hair industry, but kept my license current. Your video has helped me so much because now I find myself in a barber shop and am the only braider and your videos have been the best refresher for me to get updated on the latest trends on parting to create the best braid styles. THANK YOU!!
I’ve always watched braiding videos but for some reason I never had the confidence to pick up some braiding hair until I stumbled upon your braid school series. I did box jumbo box braids (really badly) for the first time in my life last week !! I’m getting myself a Sheila to practice on because I’m done with wearing wigs and there are five women in my house and none of us know how to braid so you can imagine how much money we spend on hair 😂 my mom said to me finally we are going to have a braider in the house. Your videos are amazing !!! Thank you ❤️❤️
Girl let me tell you I just started I did my first hair on my daughter the hair braided but it was slack n the hair was not tucked lord have mercy but I took my beaten n went again on the second try it was great my kids loved now I got a ton of hair to practice
I watch these videos to improve on my own skills to better do my own hair. Your videos are the ONLY ones I've found that are so DETAILED. Bless your soul😭
I just started to think I was dumb. No one ever teaches you how to part but you were so thorough. I honestly will probably still suck at it but with your video im sure it won't take two hours to part my hair anymore lol
I really appreciate a video like this; people don’t understand that you can give away the recipe and it’ll still turn out different. And even if you give the information out for free, they still have to be willing to invest the time and effort something like this takes to do.
I know this video was a year ago but.... your disclaimer made me cry (happy tears) I've been struggling on doing my hair on my own and I've learned so so much from you :) I'm a new subscriber and I'm so happy I found this channel because I had asked a nother youtuber a question and she literally told me I'm going to have to figure that out on my own because she spend so much time researching to give out that information for free 😳 and I never thought about it that way and I felt really bad for asking so I didn't say anything. WE NEED MORE CARING PEOPLE LIKE YOU IN THIS WORLD 🥰 Thank you 🤗
Oh girl you're just a breath of fresh air. Your tutorials are the best you should have been my math teacher back in school. Am now very much interested in doing hair and am thinking of going into this business after so many years of uncertainty. Thanks to you lady. God bless you.
I've been doing my own braids since I stopped going to braiders who seem to always have some kinda drama, with pricing or appointment times. This helps me further my independence and quality. Thanks so much!!!!
Thank you for not doing a lot of unnecessary small talk and getting to the point! This video was so helpful and detailed. The red and blue lines that inserted really were helpful with my screenshots! Thank you for your time and effort!
I loved your video. I have a 3 year old daughter who I'm here for. Her hair is really healthy and always moisturized. I've relied mainly on twists as a protective style cause learning to braid is a whole process. But I'm here for it til I master it!
Thank you so much for your videos!!! I'm a cosmetologist and appreciate that you take the time to teach others so selflessly! Education is important and it's so helpful especially for classes we don't really get in my area
I have watched several of your videos as a refresher course. I braided my daughters hair when she was in middle and high school (over 20yrs ago) and my granddaughter saw pictures and now wants me to braid her hair. You are very professional and are a good teacher. Your videos are excellent and I hope my fingers can move like they used to. Thank you so much.
I absolutely adore how you made your disclaimer at the beginning of the video. I appreciate that you're using a live model 😁 your daughter have a beautiful grain of hair! I appreciate how you showed various types of parts! I'm definitely subscribing to your channel 🥰🙏🏽
THEE BEST PARTING VIDEO ON YT! everyone else is trying to teach you from the third row.... like sis, how did you START?! You explain why you do every step and went very slow. I appreciate you. I think I got it now 😬
Ugh thankyou so much! I recently moved to LA and get tired of ppl not having time to do my hair so I am going to do it myself and save some money.. you're a lifesaver 😭
This was such a great video. Your explanations and demos were very detailed and you made them simple for the average lay person to understand (being a lay person I truly appreciate your simplistic “Parting for dummies” approach 😂😂). Your confidence in wielding that comb... Chile! You moved that comb like 5th degree Wu-tang hair parting Master! That little girl’s hair parted like it was about to get a whoopin’! 😂😂😂. Oh & your disclaimer. Yes! Exactly! Ain’t nobody (me) trying to take over the braiding world. I just want to be able to give my daughters’ nice looking braids & parts, when the mood hits me (especially when my & their coins are short) leave their edges intact, & strive to make them look as professional as I can make it. This video won me over. I just hit the subscribe button. Thanks so much for sharing your expertise. Keep ‘em coming. ❤️
Thank you so so much. I love braiding but can never get the parts right until now.. You are an angel from above. The tutorial and information was the best by far‼️‼️
Thank you for sharing your craft and professional advice. While I would underestimate or try to replace a hairdresser, I have 2 daughters and I'm teaching them to take care of their hair.
Thanks for showing this white mom how to do my mixed girls hair....I did box braids last night for my first time and they came out ok. I'll keep practicing. I was even able to feed in hair :) Saving $150 was pretty amazing too
I really appreciate you Queen. Your such a wonderful teacher and professional. Thank you for the disclaimer 😂😂. You did a great job with it. Keep doing a great job !!! Love you sis
Vandy, I've watched 2 of your videos so far, and planned to watch all. I'm a subscriber now. Your videos are very inspirational, detailed and educational. I love them. Thank you so much for your tutorials. It's not always feasible to go to the salon when you have more than two heads to do. If my hair is done my babies heads are going to be laid too. My momma taught my sisters and I that. My mom also taught us not to have everyone in your head. I said that to say this. With your techniques I can do my own babies hair with no worries of anyone else doing damage. Thank you so much. Just as you say in your tutorials every technique isn't for everyone, but there are several I can use. Thank you, thank you, thank you. I love 💘 you and your tutorials. Where have you been all my life. Lol
So helpful, appreciate your expertise! You are a great teacher, I definitely want to learn how to (be patient) and braid my own hair so I can save some money and leave my dear sister alone so she can relax on her off days 😂 thank you for the simple and informative tutorial!
I loved this tutorial. The disclaimer was hilarious. Using the math to break it down was super helpful. I'm trying to learn how to do knotless box braids on myself.
I just want to say, I JUST LOVE YOU!!!! You are an amazing woman with all these videos... I’ve always been able to braid and now have turned it into a profession. With me being white it was difficult for me and I ran into ALOT of issues with black hair. However, watching your videos has legit taught me so much about African hair to where I know more about their hair now then they do. You are on my bucket list to meet in person. I’m a huge fan and keep up the great work 😉 😘
I really needed this video. My 2 year old natural hair is FINALLY the length at which I can braid it in almost any style without extensions. I just can't do 2 sections parted down the middle yet. So I can't yet do my Cardi B braids. Lol. However, I can now improve my hair braiding styles very much using your well explained techniques. Now, if I could pull off some triangles, no one would be able to tell me anything for the two weeks that I'd wear that style! Thanks for sharing
I ALWAYSSSSS struggled with parts. These vids help so much bc I taught myself how to braid a long time ago and never learned correct parting techniques. Thank you!!
I instantly subscribed once you started the Disclaimer. I love your energy. I came here to learn how to do my own hair. Thank you for blessing us with this information
You are a god send! My daughter loves to get her hair braided and also wants to learn. Watching your videos helped me braid her hair. Wish I watched the parting video before your others 🤣 her parts look funky but she is happy with her current hair style ❤
Thanks and you are right...I love braid school bc it makes me a better braid for doing my own girl and my girls hair when I just need to do their hair inexpensively or when I cant get into a professional braider's ( one I trust) schedule. And it also cant get pricey with three females going to their hair braided. I also learn techniques on braiding my son's natural hair. He only wants cornrows or braid styles that he is only going to wear for a few days not like my girls so its cheaper for me to do his hair. AGAIN THANKS FOR STARTING BRAID SCHOOL. Its really help me to do my own hair better
Oh my god when you went over the triangle method, my mouth dropped to the floor when you explained how the number of sides is the number of spaces in the foundation row. I can’t tell you how long I was STRUGGLING with this. Thank you a million times. Btw love your channel! Your the reason I save money on getting my hair done!
Really appreciate how thorough you were with this and the fact that you went through with different options eg. Squares and triangles. The way you broke down the sections really makes sense and the tips we can use since obviously every head isn't the same
So....I always do my own braids and locs. And never dawned me to take parting seriously...but I'm doing 2 of my cousin's braids so I appreciate this and am encouraged to step my parting game up. Thank you! 😊
My boyfriend doesn’t want to keep paying money to get his hair done, and this really helped me out! It’s not perfect, but this video helped out a whole lot and with some practice I’m getting better ! Thank you❤️❤️❤️
Love love love the Disclaimer! So true with COVID19 going on I’m taking the time out furring my pregnancy to learn to braid. One reason being to be successful with future endeavors and secondly to take care of my baby girls hair as well as mine. Thank you for your positive and professional maturity. The videos have been a great help. Keep them coming!
I thought I was the only one who was crazy about nice clean parts. But u have taught me what could b a faster way to get my clean parts thank u. Pls stay safe
Good gracious as simple as it is I cant part to save my life and I have a daughter who is 13, I dont know how I survived this long!! I cant wait to practice what I have learned here today. Thank you
Thank you so much, I love the way you zoom in so that we can see exactly what you are doing. In additional, you are very precise and informative. I love learning from you.
I LOVE THIS VIDEO!!! Now that I have a little Daughter who likes being CUTE I NEED This Skill!! She has Mixed hair being Im Afroscendent and her Dad is Caucasian so I want to make sure that she looks as beautiful as all Giddup cause shes got the best of both of us in her hair. Shes got My thickness and more curl than her Daddy BUT she has his soft texture and ridiculous length. So needless to say her Crown of Glory deserves me doing My BEST Hair work. I went to school for doing Natural Locks but we just learned how best to care for natural hair with natural products and how to just finger part everything since Traditional Locks dont do the whole cultivated parting. Ive always wanted to learn how to do beautiful symmetrical parts and this video was incredible and VERY Informative. You Dear Lady are totally AWESOME!! And the fact that doing braids has so much mathematics and science behind it says alot about our Afroscendent Ancestors and how dang Intelligent they were!! I LOVE videos like this that remind people just how Low Key and Humbly Brilliant My Fellow Afroscendent People are. We as a people dont brag too much about it, but we are a Nation of Geniuses if I may brag alittle on behalf of My People. But back to being Humble, THIS right here is ART and AMAZING!! Im totally gonna use ALL this knowledge Ive gained here and be even better at doing my little Angels hair. Thanks So Much For Sharing This!!!! IDK who would EVER have a problem with this knowledge being freely shared but clearly theyre a selfish idiot and they need to learn the value of Love of Kindness.
Omg where have you been all my life! I just wanted to learn to braid so I can do my daughter and I’s hair! I can corn row, but braiding with weave is a challenge! Thanks for this knowledge!

Symmetry parts
Turn the comb vertically and part downwards to create the other box.
To have even boxes

I came here for the triangle parts and learned so much more ! Very informative thanks👏🏾
Do you have a video or tips on how to part when you reach the crown/top of the head? That always seems to mess me up

These are also known as hair tessellations and I'm so glad you demonstrated how to do them neatly. Beauticians are also mathematicians!🤎
