Great video!! Love the camp. That place is awesome looking. Thanks for taking us along
Thank you! Best of luck this season. Camp is always a great time whether you shoot one or not.
hey that dock looks familiar!
Duck hunting is my favorite. Then Turkey and then deer. I duck hunted in Michigan as a boy. And in Arkansas timber. Duck hunting in Arkansas is awesome. 👍🏻💛🙏🏻🦆🦃🦌
I love duck hunting. This season was extremely poor. I need to get into turkey hunting. My father-in-law goes every year, I’ll try to get some of his hunts on the channel. Would
Love to hunt Arkansas timber for mallards. I’ve watched so many videos of this and it looks awesome! Thanks for the like!
@@arrowheadangler. Yes you need to go Turkey hunting 🙏🏻👍🏻🙏🏻
Big 👍🏻. Great vidio. I enjoy scouting out new places for deer stands. Gets me excited for the seasons to start. I love watching these northern videos. I watch another Minnesota channel called Northern Seclusion. Its alot like your channel 👍🏻💛🙏🏻🦌
Appreciate it! I will keep posting videos!
@@arrowheadangler👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Enjoyed the video. Sounds like temps will be taking a nosedive later this week finally. Hope you guys have a great deer season.
Hoping the weather holds so I can make it to camp by water. Not a huge fan of taking the wheelers all those miles throw all that junk but if it has to happen I’ll buck up. For now I don’t see lows out through the first week that would make me think she’ll freeze. Hope you guys do well if you head out hunting. Haven’t seen much sign at the lake but there are always a few around.
You will shoot some big bucks this year! Just not as big as the ones in the NW :)
You live in big buck Mecca sir. Can’t wait to see the giant you shoot this season!
It kinda works, lets drive it in deeper and wedge it tighter, you guys are geniuses!
Couple Einsteins we are!
Love the carved eagle with Frank’s name!🥰
Yes, Sam’s dad carved it. Awesome piece to remember Frank by. We are deciding where we want to put it.
good luck to you, and your crew this deer season!
Thank you! If you are going out best of luck as well.
Like always great video. We had really hot weather tile October 29 then it started to drop 👍 things are starting to get crazy in the deer woods
👊🤪👍
Did you end up getting any?
@arrowheadangler yes last Monday opening day I shot a old buck only had a 8 pointer and not very wide.
The wolves are disappearing from my area. Couldn’t tell you why 😂
👌
I tend to gravitate toward the food too! 😂
Is that a new wood stove in the cabin
Sure is. I apparently forgot to hit record when we installed it a couple weekends ago. 🤦♂️
the deer population up there has nose dived. and wolves aren't helping
Wolves certainly take a lot of deer. Winters have been extremely tough on them over the last 12-15 years. Seems like we get one nice winter followed by 2-3 bad ones. If we could string together a couple decent winters I think the population could rebound. We see the wolves every season on trail camera and while hunting but still see deer moving. I use to work in the NW part of Minnesota which also has a lot of wolves but they’ve had a lot milder winters over the last 8 years. Their population has really increased but also they have a lot better habitat than just aspen clearcut and old conifer forest. My buddy shoots some nice deer over there and certainly sees multiple deer while hunting daily.
@@arrowheadangler seems like it started downward around 2012/13.
couple bad winters in a row
I am going to subscribe, but may I recommend a slightly longer video, increased pictures of the scenery, time spent in camp, the comradery and making meals, and maybe even some drone footage. One good example to help you is Simple Living Alaska. Great pair of young people, and both them are excellent videographers/photographers. Otherwise, I did enjoy the segment.
Sounds like you should do your own videos! 🤨🤯🤔
Appreciate the advice. I’ve certainly added more to other videos. I’ll look to add some additional content in the future.
My daughter and I participated in the youth hunt this past weekend. Found lots of wolf 💩 and tracks in area 156. Love following the channel. Good luck to you all! Safe hunting!
Thank you! Can’t wait to get my girls out too! How did she do? See anything?
Way to go getting big her out for the youth hunt. That is fantastic.
@@arrowheadanglershe had a great time. Didn’t see anything but we made some good memories. Now I am ready for this weekend!
Timber Wolves, eat a deer everyday. Thanks to the Sierra Club and them that wanted wolves returned to northern Minnesota. From St.Paul.Minnesota.
Wolves take a fair amount of deer but winter likely plays a more important role in herd management. We have 3 packs that come into the area and have seen them every year. When the deer numbers are up the packs seem to be a lot larger. Currently we don’t have more than 5 wolves in the largest pack. Deer numbers in the area are 4-6/sq mile and from what I have gathered from the wolf killed deer they have recovered the marrow content on those deer is very poor and lends to those individuals likely not surviving the winter or at least having a difficult chance and certainly having still born offspring. It’s a tough area for deer to survive. It’s really not their habitat. Logging helps provide food but I think there are more factors than just wolves. Also, where I hunt was one of the last strongholds for wolves in the lower 48. My great grandpa purchased the property in the 40’s and since they’ve been hunting deer up there they have always had wolves.
@@arrowheadangler I live by lake Como, St.Paul, we have more deer in the neighborhood now than I ever saw hunting up by McGrath, been deer hunting 45 years. Came home a few years ago, from deer hunting, there was a 10 point buck in my front yard. Guess that’s irony or karma. O well. I think the deer moved to the city’s, lots of food and no wolves. Thanks for the videos.
No worries, happy to post. With last years winter I’ll be interested to see what is on camera. Always a few deer around and we also have the luxury to hunt a really large area! Best of luck this season!
Did you make a video of your 2022 deer season?
We did not, we unexpectedly lost one of our closest and best friends last season. It was a tragic time for all who loved him.
@@arrowheadangler I'm sorry for your loss!
