This the very first full song that I learned many, many years ago. Great choice and great lesson!!! Also this song is one the best for learning to arpeggiate.
Another grest tutorial. Love the fact that you show the chord breakdown, a great addition to learning the fretboard and chord voicings❤
Is there any point in chording the EM ? You never hit the A or D string when you arpeggiate.
You are right, there is no need to put any finger in the Em bars... BUT I think it's a good practice because if you hit the wrong string you are anyway in the correct chord/key and sounds good. And you practice the correct finger position and you associate that to the sound of it. I think it is beneficial for beginners
Ha, I actually came here to make sure I wasn't learning it wrong. I'll follow Miguel's advice though and just make the chord anyway. ✌️

Nice lesson !! its intersting to see a proper musician's take on this song - slightly different to the way I play it, but I learned it by ear listening to live performances, which are always slightly different to the studio/album versions ( and of course I'm just a bloke with an old guitar, not a musician)
If you feel inclined, I'd love to see you do a lesson for "Find the River" or "Strange Currencies" (also REM songs with beautiful melodies)

First song I learned fully fingerstyle, trying it with a pick now, feels harder for me because I'm not used to a pick, have a love hate thing going on with a pick certainly strumming, I only actually use a pick strumming a 12 string guitar, but I know practice makes better and I must say that your teaching is verry inspiring, thnx for that.

Awesome video Angela. I am so happy I found your channel. I am organizing a classmates reunion for July. We are all in our mid sixties and we were losing fellow classmates every year so two of my friends got the idea that now is the time to have a reunion. That started two years ago and this year will be the third year that we will be meeting again. I live in a city in northern Ontario, Canada and this year the reunion will be where I live.
It's 2:30 am and I have been looking for inspiration. I also play guitar and I am looking for songs I could play around a campfire. I will be playing songs from the 70s but I want to mix in songs some of my classmates are wanting to hear. I got a request for this song but everything I heard on other RUclips channels just didn't cut it, until I heard you play. Thank you so much for creating this video.
