- Calamity Ganon in Breath of the Wild isn't the WORST boss I've ever fought, but it could definitely be better! So I'm glad Tears of the Kingdom's Demon King Ganondorf fight added in some much needed changes!
#nintendo #tearsofthekingdom #zelda
When Ganondrof flurry rushed me, I broke out in a crazy grin, knowing that this is the true final boss
I had a mental breakdown lol
Same here
ganondorf: flurry rush
Vivers01: *gigachad grin*
when he flurry rushed me i looked at my screen for a few seconds like: wait what-
I screamed haha
When ganon dodged my flurry rush I felt both insane happiness and primal fear.
Same, it makes you feel like everything you know isn't right, and you have to adapt right then and there. No more flurry rushes to take out enemies.
He became so scary
And here I am, unable to reliably flurry rush literally _anything_ that isn't a lynel for some reason. Ganon's gonna powerstomp his foot down my *throat.* XD
@@TaoScribblehuh, I can’t flurry rush anything that isn’t a lynel
same with when his health bar didnt stop going up
I love how they brought back Ganondorf being able to destroy your hearts from the intro sequence.
I never knew that was a thing in other titles so I was really shocked lmao. Loved it, it made me really try to prepare for the fight (ofc I overprepared and showed up with 40 next time I tried and all my dish slots filled with sunny dishes lmao why am I like this)
@@senainvanapeldoorn8484 sorry I meant they brought the Ganondorf breaking hearts from the first cutscene in the game. Sorry for the confusion
@@Aripengu lol
@@Aripengu ah I see! I'm kinda new to the franchise so I just assumed. Good to know he doesn't do that in other games lmao
@@senainvanapeldoorn8484 he does break other people's hearts... if you count murder
Ganondorf actually being a sentient being instead of some mindless beast makes a big difference. Mistiming a flurry rush dodge and being taunted by him adds to the experience.
I mean there was a lore reason for it, calamity ganon was mindless because it was an impure part of ganons power wrecking havoc in any way it could
Kinda reminds me of Iblis from _Sonic 06._
The Flames of Disaster is basically the raw power of Solaris, but no direction, only unleashing destruction indiscriminately. Meanwhile, Mephiles was the consciousness of Solaris, who manipulated and schemed.
BTW, that's not me praising or bashing on either _Legend of Zelda_ or _Sonic 06;_ just pointing out a similarity.
I liked calamity Ganon, it felt like you could use every single skill you had learned, parrying guardian beams, flurry rushes, destroying the ice cubes etc. It was kinda fun.
Although I agree that Ganondorf is better.
I almost screamed when the health bar didnt stop going up.
Same lol
I did scream.
Literally felt like the meme where Chika Fujiwara gets more and more panicked
Same I was terrified and does make me wonder if you have a bigger screen does the health bar becoming longer 😂
Yeah uh. I will honestly admit that I screamed “no stop” rapidly and repeatedly, and got whatever reason known only to get gods I reached towards the TV like I was going to stop the health bar from increasing…
It hurt to see an ancient arrow used on a malice eye
What's it going to do, use it up? After beating it just resets you back to your last save point.
@@shinyeeveelution789a malice eye. outside of the final fight.
@@shinyeeveelution789 Its a malice eye, its not even in a fight
@@garboge OHHHHHHH, it appeared earlier in the short. My bad, I'm blind, sorry!
Noooooo
Demon King Ganondorf just gives so much more depth to the fight bc instead of a weird malice thing you’re fighting, it’s an actual person that gives dialogue and it’s just so much cooler
I was freaking out during the fight
Bonus: He’s hot?????
He's what? Delete this shit 💀
also you is flurry rushes allot during demon king ganondorf
Bonus is facts
Yeah
I was thinking the whole time about why he didn’t have a shirt
ganondorf's fight is this:
'hey you aren't meant to be able to flurry rush me'
'WHY CAN'T I HEAL MY HP WHAT DID YOU DO'
_'yeah just pull out a comically long hp bar because why not'_
dont forget
'Your Hylian Shield is badly damaged!'
@@theman599fr Nintendo did that on purpose istg
@@theman599 you block yet ganon just flips you off and breaks your shield
good thing i have dupes
@@theman599the response is: WHAAAT THEE FRIIICK
Pretty much
Gannondorf jumping off the platform ready to fight you was cold asf reminded me of when Madara soloed an entire army
I loved the Ganon fight. The floor breaking and link floating down and bringing out his master sword was cool. The Divine Beasts firing at it looked and felt so good and so EPIC! Who cares if it halved his health. The mechanics were fun. Sure Tears Ganondorf felt more personal, and the increasing health bar was brilliant, but the little touches in the Ganon fight were great.
"Fox only final destination" was the best way to describe the first Phase of the fight
Definitely
HAPPY FEET! WOMBO COMBO!
I loved the Demon King Ganondorf fight simply because of the fact that he broke my Hylian Shield and I successfully depleted the last third of his health one hit away from death with no shield. It was an absolute gaming highlight memory for me.
Your brain went into full Gear mode
If your Hylian Shield didn't break fighting Ganondorf you didn't play the game
I... didn't even need a healing item through all the phases?
@@jsnodgersme two but my shield did break
@@jjonahgrant6146i did need heals, but thankfully i had a level 2 durability upgrade on my shield so it didn’t break
I had mine at lv 2 durability up but they (all five of them) still broke. Maybe im just bad at the game?
I only had the Hylian shield during the Ganondorf fight and it broke at the beginning of the first 5 minutes.
a kickflip on the final boss is actually pretty cool lmao
I first was flabbergasted that Ganondorf had the guts to flurry rush me
When he flurry rushed me, the amount of “crap crap crap crap crap what do I do” I felt is insane
Bro flurry rushing back and forth was so much fun
It’s just amazing how Ganondorf can also use bullet time and flurry rush like link someone who is a truly worthy opponent❤️🔥
It is also a lot more fun to fight a villain who actually talks and stuff. It feels like a lot more deeply emotional fight and you get a lot more invested in it.
Not only did they not take away half of his health at the start of the battle, but in his second phase, his health bar fills more than normal.
Calamity ganon is a leaked faucet of ganondorfs rage. Calamity ganon was meant to be a pushover.
also, having all the sages keeps all the phantom ganons in second phase away from you as the sages take care of them
They did? In my game they still went after me while I was focused on ganondorf
It also didn’t help that I’d keep accidentally locking onto the wrong ganon while the real one charged at me at the same time as another one hit me in the back
@@kitkitsune6570 the sages at least try to take care of them. sometimes if you attack a phantom ganon they attack you or you are just the closest to them.
Not to mention that ganondorf genuinely threw out some attacks and did stuff that you weren’t expecting. The fact that he swapped weapons throughout and and flurry rush you genuinely supposed me.
I still think the demon dragon fight was a little too easy, but the visual spectacle was infinitely better along with the fight going as quickly as you want it to be.
One of the other things I loved about demon king, is that this felt like two skilled swordsmen facing down eachother, both countering each others moves and forcing the player to either be good at combat or die. The anticipation between clashes and the "what next" aspect of the fight makes this fight one of the most memorable Ganondorf fights of all time IMO
My favorite part of the demon Ganon fight was that health at the beginning, it just wouldn't stop growing. That was the moment I knew this was gonna be a different kinda Gannon fight
I swear Tears of the Kingdom really does make Breath of the Wild feel like a demo-
That’s a bit harsh :/
@@MinisterChicken I still love breath of the wild, it is a great game.
yeah it’s gonna be really hard for me to play botw again after playing too much tears of the kingdom
@@nourmallysalty I went back to play trial of the sword and speedrun just cause
And I don’t think it’s dated in the slightest
I honnestly enjoyed playing BoTW more. ToTK strays a bit too far in the mechanics from what I want in a Zelda game.
I think the enclosure of the ganondorf fight was really cool with the roots everywhere
The terror I felt when his health bar not only refilled but went to the edge of the screen is unparalleled by anything in life
Horse: I WOKE UP IN A NEW BU-
Dark Beast Ganon: *Bad Piggies theme*
I thought it was so cool that Ganon was able to dodge your attacks and do a flurry attack like you can with his, I’ve never seen that before.
He also switches items and heals. It's like fighting someone with my abilities
He doesn't do flurry rush, he just dodges and jumps away.
@@bp2368he literally does it’s just not the same as the players and dodging and jumping away is the same thing you do for a flurry rush
@@bp2368 if he did actually do a flurry rush like Link does than the boss would probably be incredibly hard since he would be doing so much damage.
I can relate to when he takes the screenshots
We’ve all done it when those scenes popped up
I took so many screenshots during the fights and at the end of the story lol. The cinematic shots were actually insane
Me waiting for the light dragon to go up so I can land on ganon
U don't have to wait tho. If u dive down at full speed she comes straight to you
Then there is me who had to beat him with 1 heart because I brought no food to cure gloom and the enemies before the fight brought me down to one heart.
My brother was like that too but then he realized he had like 50 cooking pots and a bunch of sunny ingredients so he just used a bunch of pots before starting the fight
@@Red_Ryry I had no sundelions and I didn’t want to get more and go back through the entire fight
YOOO SAMEE
when I saw the dragon gannon, with the blood red moon perfectly behind him it was stunning.
I also like how the dragon ganon fight was easier (with zeldas help of corse, though both fights have her help). I like how when ganon became a dragon he was an easier, and almost more familiar beast to fight than gerudo form. That turning into a dragon actually feels like its ganons last resort, and unstoppable plan, and definitely without zelda, yeah it would've been much harder but still possible.
Dude the comically large boss bar was so funny to me and terrifying 😂😭😭
Bro I'm just glad they made the final boss more of a challenge than in botw😅
I do wish the ganondorf fight had more attacks from him. They're either slow moving projectiles or basic attacks
Also, in TotK, you knew what/who Ganon was. In BOTW you just know it was called calamity Ganon and is in Hyrule Castle. In TotK, you met and started him immediately, I stead of starting and Ganon has been in the castle for 100 years.
I’m glad I’m not the only one that took a picture of that scene when it showed everyone ready to fight😅
AINT NO WAY THIS MAN GOT OVER 100 ANCIENT ARROWS
I genuinely think that Breath of the Wild was just the teaser trailer for Tears of the Kingdom
In the final phase of the ground fight I took off my tunic and discarded my fairies to make it a 1 vs 1 shirtless
The hype building and building just before you kill calamity Ganon is my best memory of breath of the wild and the music 😍😍
Demon king is also harder than Calamity, even if it has full health
It’s because you don’t get a trial run from all the bosses in the game, it’s an actual unique flight
Am I the only person who loved the calamity Gannon fight?! I thought it was a great fight with a wonderfull sweet ending. This games boss was almost better but didn’t too the botw boss
Yeah I agree
I respect your opinion, but for me the fight was just way too damn easy. If the divine beasts didn’t delete half his health, the fight would have been much more cool. Thunder blight gave me more trouble than calamity Ganon; which is the thing that was supposed to set hyrule in a post apocalyptic world
@JugularJohn yea I agree with that too
@@JugularJohnI was in the 6th grade when I originally played botw so that game was hard as balls 😂. I agree that the new boss was harder though. I had to call my friends brother in college to find out how to parry gannons second rush
@@JugularJohni do kinda like
The whole thought of “oh, these super weapons we made to stop the calamity didn’t actually kill it. Well fuck”
Cmon we all took a selfie with the sages at that moment
I never experienced Gannon dodging my flury rushes. But when I watched the ending again to show my mom what happened, I was surprised to see Gannon dodge in the video I saw. It was a fun fight either way. I also did use arrows for the final phase before he turned into a dragon, so that might explain it.
I actually liked all the Calamity phases WAY more than Ganondorf in TOTK
It's not about being"difficult" it's about the feeling the fight gives you
Climbing through hyrule castle feels much more epic and emotional than going down to the depths
And the music plus"courage need not be remembered..." really is much more moving than just a big health bar
Why would I want a harder fight when it doesn't make me feel anything at all
Naw the journey down through the depths is amazing. That moment when you realize that this is the same area you were in at the beginning of the game and you reveal the final murals revealing more of the story is great. Plus it’s more difficult to accidentally skip most of it like in botw
@@dsur5547 the depths only have a connection to the start of the game and tbh that sequence has super generic music
The castle has a connection to 100 years ago and the ascencion has a mixture of the tragedy of Hyrule's themes and Link's themes combined, that in itself is emotional
And the almost horror and desperate theme that plays against the Calamity contrasted with the victorious theme of the Wild against the Dark Beast shows how Link is TRULY the savior of Hyrule, the Dark Beast can't stand a chance against you, you are the Hero
Don't try to police my preference dude
I'd take emotion every day over any empty hard fight
@@my2randomcentsI much more prefer ganondorf rather than calamity ganon. Because ganondorf talks to you and has more of a personality rather than a rage filled monster
@@Scorpion00816 if u pay attention to the lore the rage filled monster actually is way more interesting tbh
@@my2randomcents you can have a preference all you want but if you want to claim that botw is more emotionally investing than totk I’m gonna disagree with you. In totk the first thing you see is the main conflict being established. But in botw everything interesting already happened 100 years ago and has no connection to the player. I care a lot more about events I personally experienced in the game than stuff the game tells me I experienced. I personally love the music that plays as you descend into the depths so that’s just a matter of you not liking it.
You're the only RUclipsr I know that use 20 sound effects at the same time
The reason you even did a kick flip in the demon dragon was because of my suggestion 😂
Nothing replaces that feeling of seeing Ganandorfs health bar just keep going up like the firsy time along with the flurry rush
A nice thing about Ganondorf is during the second phase where the sages join you and he creates his clones, the real Ganondorf will never stop focusing you, even if you’re fighting his clones
He turned into a Korok at the end. 😂
That "capture taken" is too well known to me
I always assumed you couldn't enter hyrule castle without clearing all of the divine beasts
no bc i didn't realize you could land on the dragon's weak points themselves so i kept shooting them with arrows 💀
I'd appreciate it if they did like an 1/8 of his health damaged by the Divine Beasts. And if they made him do more damage, even with maxed out armor. Like let's say, 10 hearts of damage. And if he was faster than a lynel charging at you. That is what i think would make Calamity Ganon harder and a more suitable final boss. And for the Dark Beast fight, make him summon hundreds of unkillable enemies. But i dont know about that. But ive been appreciating Calamity Ganon. Hes not hard, but not too easy, either. If you go to the castle immediately and fight him, he is bot easy. If he was easy, you would beat him in 3 secs.
Bro idk about you, I loved the Calamity Ganon fight. It scared the living shit out of me the first time, and it looks awesome.
“The puppet can never be as good as its puppeteer”
My experience with the Ganondorf fight: I’ve Master flurry rushes there is no way he can beat me (flurry rushes my attack) HOLY SMOKES
Bro the confusion you get when ganondorf copies your flurry rush is insane but kinda cool 😂
Ganondorf absolutely was an amazing final boss, I literally had to constantly eat hearty foods so I could survive the next hit, and the lad FLURRY RUSHED ME
I'd say also that calamity ganon's moveset was just the same as the 4 blights, but demon king's one not only is the same as the phantoms, but also adds some moves (charged attacks) that the phantoms never use (apart from the one-handed sword charged attack).
"just a waiting simulator" OKAY THAT GOT ME AND I STARTED GIGGLING AT WORK 😂😂😂
See I’m not sure I agree with that. I actually liked both pretty equally. Demon King was cool af, but too easy to cheese with enough gloom food (which was like the only thing I had on first play through). The cool parts were also the easiest aspects of the fight to combat. Sure, he can flurry rush, but the resulting attack is just like any other. Yes, he takes away hearts permanently, but only one at a time. Yes, his hits do massive damage to shields, but the fight isn’t long enough to eat up all your shields. His hp bar extension is dope as hell, but his hp in the second phase in reality isn’t much more than half-hp Calamity Ganon.
I believe Calamity Ganon has about half as much hp as Ganondorf (all phases) when you do all divine beasts, so that makes him a little too easy. But the challenging aspects of the Calamity Ganon fight are the cool parts. The fact that you can’t hit him whenever you want in the second phase. You have to parry or dodge. It forces you to demonstrate your combat abilities. Calamity also climbs on the walls and forces you to be on defense for a wide variety of attacks. I personally find that very satisfying. He also just looks so cool compared to Ganondorf.
But the aforementioned dope aspects of the Ganondorf fight, while easy to combat, are dope enough to make both fights pretty equal for me. Though I think both fights are also a little too easy. I did both on my first try.
I actually had more of a negative initial reaction to the ease of the Ganondorf fight because I found TOTK to be so much harder in general. I got more revved up for a hard fight.
Most people would disagree with my opinion but when I saw all the bosses I beat from the dungeons appear at the same time I was hoping we actually got to fight them at the same time. I knew it likely wouldn’t be that case and it wasn’t.
When i fought ganondorf i literally screamed when his health bar went to the end of the screen
When he dodged my flurry rush, I was like "Oh, THAT'S how it's gonna be, is it?!"
With demon king ganon, it was awesome because of the health bar thing just extending way further than it should, and it was friggin awesome when GANON FLURRY RUSHED YOU
I could hear the prowler theme playing in my head the moment that ganondorf flurry rushed
Instant shield break took me by surprise in that battle, rely on part a lot and beast was just one of my practice partners
I let out a hysterical panic laugh in the 2nd phase when his health bar stretched across the screen.
I have a different opinion tho. I kinda cheesed the Ganondorf fight by headshotting his ass with a Savage Lynel Bow with 5 shot and fused gibdo bones to it. The fight was anti climactic for ME, since, the fight was over in 2 minutes.
For ppl struggling on the fight btw, you have to hit the black gloom orbs he shoots with the Master Sword and also, when the orbs surround you, you can do a spin attack. All the orbs will do massive damage to him.
I love a final boss where it's simple no cheats just a fair 1v1 between the protag and the antagonist
Bro Gannon knows how to parry bro 😭
That was because Ganondorf is a lot more threatening and climactic in comparison.
I thought the health regenerating to the right edge of the screen was hilarious
I literally was in shocked silence as I blinked a tear of fear when he dodged my flurry rush, I was so scared that hot hydrated demon king was going to flurry rush the absolute hell out of me
I think one of the best parts about the fight with Gannondorf.
Was that it was the equivalent of fighting a copy of yourself, he switches weapons, will punish you for your mistakes.
And she can also perform flurry rush.
(which I’m gonna be honest when he first did, I said the longest shit I have ever had.)
The funny thing is I like the last stage of the fight, but I also felt very angry.
Not as the fight,
But at Gannondorf himself, it felt like a huge betrayal of his own mentality.
When Zelda did it, she was actually willingly sacrificing everything to help link.
Put Gannondorf was being a wuss.
“Strength is everything, oh no, I’m losing.”
When ganondorf flurry rushed my flurry rush I almost had a heart attack
“AYO YOU SHOULD’NT BE DOING THAT!?”
Calamity: Nooo. Don't rush me
Ganon king: *dodges your flurry rush* Sit down!
When I saw “Hylian Shield is badly damaged when he does the circle attack I felt like I was sweating
I died so many times to the final boss bc I didn't stock up on sunny foods lmao
Bro when I was fighting the dragon the main theme hit different just straight up "DOOOO DOOOO DO DO DOOOO"
That brief moment of Bad Piggies music was so nostalgic
Calamity Ganon is actually Puppet Ganon (made from Malice and sometimes Guardian parts), hence the 3 Forms (Snake, Spider, and Boar). Ganondorf is the source of Malice and Gloom (i.e. the source of Calamity Ganon), and has much more raw power. His transformation into the Demon Dragon was more of a last ditch attempt to destroy Link and the Kingdom of Hyrule, but that conclusion...WOW!
The divine beasts didn't destroy half of Ganon's health
They just moved it somewhere else
Honestly they were both two of my favourite boss fights ever I literally forget how to Perry so I struggled in the Calamity Ganon boss fight but got the hang of it. The Demon King Ganondorf boss fight was a lot of fun and a great challenge him just trash talking you as you battled one on one with Hyrule hanging in the balance.
bro that picture taken of the group is the best i also did that lol
I think it helps that he has 4 phases where you can use many different mechanics, like dodging, the sages and even gliding, unlike Calamity Ganon, who has two phases, a combat you can halve by completing the main missions, and the only moment where a horse is useful
I felt that perfect balance of difficulty and it really felt like “finally a worthy opponent, our battle will be legendary” MAXIMUM dopamine
When i first did the calamity ganon fight, i was leaning back in my chair. When i first did the demon king fight, I was on the edge of my seat, laser focused. I think that speaks for itself!
It also doesn’t help that Calamity Ganon is impersonal he did terrible things a long time ago and hasn’t done anything since. Ganondorf is an active threat that personally sent monsters to harm your friends and allies and this is the biggest one he spoke to you and we see his actions. Ganon is a mindless beast, Ganondorf did all those things very deliberately. Ganon is a force of evil while Ganondorf is the demon king.
That last hit was so sick 🔥
Bro turned into a war crime victim at the end there
Also giving him a personality and a character really helps in my opinion fighting calamity ganon isnt much different the blights its just a big one but hes still just a mindless momster from the players pov, but not only do we get to see ganondorf do evil things and make a funny face in the memories he also interacts with link and has some scary acts of power like breaking the master sword making the eventual final confrontation much more satisfying on top of it being a challenging fight with a lot of spectacle
I like that you can tell the time this video came out from the volume of his voice
This is like explaining why you want fresh water as opposed to mud
With calamity Ganon, it felt like a bit of a slog. There are just parts of that fight where I- due to inexperience and a lack of arrows among other things- had to just wait and hope for him to make himself vulnerable. I never saw the divine beasts as lessening the fight personally. Narratively it made my brain happy at least. I think for me the issue also stemmed from seeing the boss fight already.
But demon king Ganondorf? I went in blind when I fought him. Everything he did was a suprise, I had to learn how he worked. How some attacks dropped shield durability to near 0, how some attacks were perma damage. How extra hearts are entirely pointless and he mocks you for even bringing them.
My first attempt ended in failure. We were both so close to death. One hit from him, maybe 4 from me. And while I lost- wrongly thought I could just burst him down before he could attack- I was excited to try again- this time with healing items because was not at all prepared round 1...
While I have only ever gone back to fight Calamity Ganon maybe once, I’ve gone back to rematch Ganondorf multiple times.
Even the demon dragon is an upgrade than beast Ganon because it uses a skill you have been forced to practice through the game- skydiving. I rarely partook in horseback combat, so shooting down the beast was frustrating. But the dragon? Hype, fantastic, a true cinematic boss that- even if losing is ridiculously hard- was a fun time.
