    The order that you choose to paint that car shows that you are an absolute professional. It feels so good to watch a person doin his job in the exakt right (and only !) way to do it and the result proofs it: you have done it so damn right. I like that (-and only that) kind of YT-Content: no blinky blah-blah, just the real and the right stuff done in the right way. Thanx for that and best regards from Berlin, Germany. Btw: i'm a german Paintshop-Master who has worked 45 years in that profession . . .

    I'm doing some repair jobs around the house that involve body repairs and ultimately painting. I didn't do this for a living, am a diy. I appreciate you showing all the steps. I had no idea one could paint with the gun upside down, after sucking the air out.
    It does remind me of the first time I painted a car, using a typical paint sprayer from 1950, nothing like what we have today. I was cleaning the gun and forced the needle through the nozzle orophase . It split the tiny hole wide open. I tried to solder the hole closed and drill out with a 1/16" drill bit. The paint came out of the gun like a garden hose, I painted the car, I couldn't have gotten more orange peel than if I tried. Figured I'd buff it out. The car stayed that way until the end of the road.
    thanks for sharing.

    Sealer is sandable, but it is not completely necessary. I do however use a soft interface round pad and my hand with either 600 or 800 grit sandpaper and basically wipe over the sealer, very light pressure, just to knock down any dirt nibs or trash that may have settled onto/into the sealer. Then I will use alcohol and a blue shop towel (paper towel) to wipe down the sealer then tack rag then apply my first coat of paint. It just ensures a cleaner and smoother first coat that will adhere to the sealer properly and completely. Yes, it is an extra step, but it is far worth it.

I used to paint elevator oil paint and I learned how to do that with the measuring cup, but keep on showing other kids how to measure the paint and all that you’re doing good appreciate your lessons, thank you for showing everybody that keep on doing what you doing thank you. tip on the jet spot. you applying to much heat. do 2 short triggers 2 seconds apart so you do not distort and damage the metal. you now can pull and twist off the used pin using side snipers apply to the head of the pin and twist off and they can be used again. also the area you applied the pins you gridded off to much you now blind to whats going on. just sand down in the deepest part enough for the pin to attach . wipe away the dust then do the pull work. you have total control with vision and see whats going on then you can tap the crown that has not been grinded down to metal to hold the dent using slide hammer

    Really like the work you do
    ? How do you determine how much paint and reducer you need to paint a car based on the size of vehicle

    • @PHARRAWAY
      @PHARRAWAY  Год назад +10

      Here are some rules of thumb:
      Small Cars - Miata, Minis, Model A roadsters and the like typically take about two quarts of single stage paint to apply enough coats to cover them, plus the reducers and hardeners.
      Medium to Full-Size Cars - Your typical muscle car, modern sedan, or full-size car usually will use most of a gallon of single-stage paint. Usually it is best to buy a gallon kit and have extra than to try to save a little and buy three quarts. If you’re spraying base coat/clear coat, it may only take 2-3 quarts of base coat to cover completely.
      Trucks and Vans - Obviously, these are bigger and you will need more paint. Buy at least a gallon plus an extra quart of paint for regular sized trucks and two extra quarts for vans, full-sized SUVs and crew cab trucks. Don’t forget, you have to paint inside the bed too. If spraying base coat/clear coat, a gallon of color may be enough but buy more than a gallon of clear.
      Clear Coat - Always buy a full gallon kit of clear and mix as needed. You can always use leftover paint that has not been mixed with activator for spot repairs or small projects.
      Same Color Respray - If you are respraying a typical car the same color because the clear has failed or after collision repair, you likely will only need about two quarts of base coat color. You will still need a gallon of clear, though.
      Single-Stage vs. Base Coat/Clear Coat - You will use more single-stage paint then you will basecoat to cover any given car. But chances are you will use less total paint when you compare the amount of basecoat and clear coat applied compared to the single-stage paint.
