This conversation with FPJ is one of my all time favorites! He tells such GREAT stories! 👏 You can check out this interview and every other interview on my podcast "INSIGHT with Chris Van Vliet": link.chtbl.com/chrisvanvliet
probably one of the most intelligent perspectives on wrestling I've ever heard, he understands its a subjective sport/entertainment medium and a match can be 'good' or 'bad' based on the perspective of the viewer, its just a matter of shaping the product in such a way that it can sustain and grow an audience while netting a profit.
Hey bro! Are you Superman's younger brother? You look just like him. By the way I admire your interviews. When you asked the Rock about Sting returning to wrestling. Epic question
I love your interviews as you know but this might have been one of the best and deepest interviews ever. Not only that but this guy has similar interests as me and involved in 2 of my favourite things film & wrestling and he seems so down to earth
Freddie is like a real life Gohan. Son of an influential figure, raised and trained by the biggest badasses in the world, married to another martial artist. Even back in his teen movie days he looked like high school arc Gohan!
It’s wild the passion that he has for pro wrestling. He is probably the only person that makes me excited to want to watch Raw at the moment. It’s a shame he’s not working in any pro wrestling promotion, even though he’s probably still sending guys promos lol.
I could listen to Freddie talk about his time with WWE for hours, he's simply amazing (also can't forget about the memories with Scooby-Doo in my childhood! 😉), but that story right at the end with his daughter really hit hard. I was raised by a single parent, and my father was a jerk (probably still is). He cheated on my mom and left her with thousands of debt when I was four. Having gone through my own childhood and knowing my experiences, I feel like it would make me a better father to my own kids; as Freddie said, it showed him what to do and what to not do. It sounds so simple, but it goes much deeper than words can truly express.
Chris man have him back. Fpj was never really on my radar... nothing against him... just has never been in much I was interested in, but damn his stories were amazing, and I was hooked on every word. Such a humble awesome attitude. I will be waiting for his return to your show! Very grateful for this conversation!
I may disagree with his views on The Attitude Era but I respect that the man appreciates good build and storytelling. His less is more attitude is what wrestling needs more today. The guy seems genuine too. His father a great actor and comedian. Seemingly a charmer too from the stories told. He definitely has his father's charm when he speaks.
This guy is like if a golden retriever turned into a human. I LOVED his enthusiasm and this entire interview. This was probably your best, CVV. Incredible stuff!
I'll be honest with you Chris. I've loved all your interviews.... but when Freddie was talking about having milk and cookies with his Dad that hit home. Freddie is such a great genuine guy just like you! Thank you for making my day.
I'd like to nominate this for one of the top 5 interviews of 2021 video. What an awesome interview! Please do this one again. I could listen to him talk about pro wrestling all day! Such an amazing story and really hit me with the milk and cookies story. #BeGrateful
I'm so upset I'm only just now watching this interview, it's by far one of if not my absolute favorite CVV interview and I think more people NEED to see this
Chris - you've had A LOT of incredible interviews.....this was the greatest one. Please get him to return sometime. I was absolutely enthralled the entire time.
That Milk and Cookies story man. Fantastic conversation, really refreshing to see someone from the world Freddie came from be so open, real and enthusiastic in an interview like this. Great job Chris!
52:18 Oh wow, I had no idea that Freddie wrote the promos for Jeff during the lead up to his title win at Armageddon. I remember watching that vividly. Jeff was so insanely over with the crowd back then, it was amazing. And then I remember watching his first entrance on SmackDown as the champion. It was so cool to see the joy on everyone's faces.
I couldn’t quite figure out why I loved this interview so much other than fpj being charismatic as hell and I think it comes down to the fact that fpj has so much obvious passion about everything he does. I mean what a joy to listen to. And of course cvv was great as always. But man hearing someone who is so clearly happy and passionate about their life speak is just a great pleasure
I really enjoyed this interview. Ive been calling FPJ’s name for a few weeks now, reflecting on his blond days on Scooby Doo. It’s so awesome to hear him now. So humble and a realist. Thanks for sharing.
Chris don’t know if you look back at these old comment threads but please consider having Freddie Prince Jr on again someday soon if he’s open to doing so I’ve found myself watching this a second time all these months later and enjoying it just as much I’m a few years older than Freddie and grew up a fan of his father and the era of Bruce Lee , Muhammad Ali , Richard Pryor and all the things he speaks of in fact i listen to his father on the radio under covers after bedtime on my transistor radio as they were broadcasting The Presidents inaugural ball My Mom passed away very young around the same time as his father so that time period remains very real and colorful in my mind and i have allot of respect for who Freddie jr has become and of course sharing a love for pro wrestling i obviously enjoy those stories I’d love to hear a bit more of the history of wrestling he grew up on as a fan and what he enjoyed the most and fun stories along the way Thanks again Chris for another Great Guest and Great Interview Merry Christmas to you and yours and continued success throughout your career and life Your Positivity to the wrestling world and life in general is both commended and appreciated beyond what you know
As a lifelong wrestling fan, and working in entertainment, FPJ’s career trajectory always fascinated me. Thanks so much for getting this interview Chris!! Take care, and be safe sir.
Best interview ever!!!! This was so eye opening and entertaining. I have an all new respect for FPJ. You really need a part 2 with him. I have a feeling there is so much more.
I love Freddie more so than I ever did now after this interview. A genuinely happy, grateful family man with good values. Thank you Chris for this lovely interview man!
This is my absolute favourite interview of yours. You two get on great and Freddy has a great balance between telling great stories and providing great intelligence to his points.
I always liked the cheesy teen movie's Fredie Prinze Jr was in, but then throughout the years I saw him taking on nerdy cameos on things because it was genuinely him coming through in a spot. Knowing he is a huge wrestling nerd and was a part of the business makes him a legend to me. This has got to be my favorite interview off all time.
I know I'm late. I came here to see what FPjr was up to and was going to bounce. I realized, like everyone else, he's a fantastic story teller. Poetic, philosophical and funny. I was literally hypnotized. Very nice.
freddie prince jr is the national treasure to nerd culture we all deserve (by nerd culture i mean EVERYTHING from games, star wars, wrestling ect) the whole thing about writing for talent as THEM and write things THEY would say, the lack of writers being able to do this is the biggest issue with wwe promos right now! the writers are just writing words, not writing as the character rather they just write some generic shit they think a "pro wrestler" would say. most of those writers has never seen more than a few minutes of wrestling their entire lives b4 getting the job.. if they can hire the writers who could for example, watch tape on whoever they get assigned to write for, truly make an effort to get to kno them on a "no gimmick" personal level during catering or whatever free time they have backstage, then as soon as they feel like they have a good grasp on that individual (real personality AND gimmick) only then should they put pen to paper! or hear me out, let the talent come up with their OWN promos!!! ain't that a novel idea!! il tell u what ain't no one gonna be able to write for john cena as the "thuganomics" character better than cena himself can. stone cold Steve Austin and the rock might never have made it out of the Midcard had they been forced to recite a script!! roman reigns didn't get over until they just let him be. the problem is they don't need stars anymore, stars are bad for business and have too much power.. this is the real reason the show is bad.
Chris you’re the best interviewer ever, Freddie Prince Jr. holds a special place in my heart being Fred in Scooby Doo and you just let him talk about these stories without interrupting once! This is the best interview ever thank you man!!
Chris I just got to say I've watched practically all of your videos and I want to just give a shout out to Freddie ....I truly enjoy listening to his stories and the guy really comes across is so real and honest. You can also tell he is a true love for the art and craftsmanship that goes into building a good wrestling match and a good storyline. Great, great interview as always keep up the good work.
That was one of the most entertaining interviews I’ve ever seen you have. It’s so nice to always see you just have a conversation and really ask the things that I myself would ask given the opportunity. Excellent work sir!
1. Love Freddie Prinze Jr he has such great stories. His inexperience and awkwardness with women in his younger years are so funny to hear about coming from a guy like him. He's so relatable. 2. Amazing interview CVV! Super insightful (pun intended). I hope FPJ divulges even more about his experiences in the future. The man is an incredibly talented storyteller and it's awesome to see how much passion he has. Crazy to hear him validate how much of a madhouse the WWE creative process is.
Why am I barely seeing this. Omg this interview is great I’m just starting it but omg 13 mins in and I’m intrigued. Love the INSIGHT!!! Thanks yet again Chris!!
Absolutely glued to the screen. FPJ just gave one of the best interviews I've ever seen, holy cow 😄. And true kudos to you Chris, a great skill not interviewer has, the ability to know when *not* to talk.
If I was going to be best friends with anyone in Hollywood it would be Fredy Prince Jr. We have so much in common. We are nerds and love all things D&D, Star Trek, Star Wars and Video Games and we both love Pro wrestling. On top of that, I started taken Martial Arts last year and his love for Martial Arts has become the same love I have for it. He seems like the nicest guy and a cool dad. I wish more people in Hollywood could be as down to earth as him. My favorite interview that you have done, and I love all your interviews too.
Had obviously heard of this fella before watching this, but didn’t really know a lot about him. Definitely my favorite. The guy just oozes enthusiasm & tells great stories. I even think Chris himself was really impressed. Brilliant viewing.
Sarah Michelle Gellar and Arquette were in Scream 2. Sarah Michelle Gellar and Freddy Prince were in the "I Know What You Did Last Summer" series. And then there were Jennifer Love Hewitt and Special Officer Doofy and the Scary Movie series ..... Man, all those late 90's teenie spooky movies shared some same actors, it's all very confusing. And in the movies Freddy Prince was Love Hewitt's boyfriend, in reality he is Gellar's boyfriend. And Arquette was not Doofy. I thought he was Doofy. ^^
This is the reason why I love extended interviews and podcast, you get to learn and get more inspired by the person. Wow what an interview, it felt like 15 mins instead of over an hour.
Such an amazing person FPJ is. I would have never thought for a minute he was truly this down to earth and so welcoming. He also reminds me of my uncle and looks alot like him that while watching this I kept thinking of my uncle just speaking. This interview was so amazing. I thank you CVV for the great content.
When Freddie lived on and off in Albuquerque he went to La Cueva and I went to Rio Grande High Schools. That was also the school NPH went to (La Cueva) so it was cool seeing them around town at the mall and restaurants just being themselves and it (from when I saw them) they were left alone and just got to be regular teenagers. I loved his dad when I was little, Chico and the Man was very special to me and im happy to see that he grew up and has his own family and looks healthy and happy
I remember Freddie & Sarah in Scooby Doo & as a kid he was the most awesome dude to watch. Really awesome to see him again & another brilliant interview CCV
Wow.. dude this was a good one.. not only one of the best interviews I’ve seen in a while but honestly one of the best I’ve seen ever in my personal opinion. I never knew much of his history and just how much cool stuff he’s in to. Btw it is actually pretty wild how much Chris and Freddie look alike lol just go google pictures of them and put them side by side! it’s like they’re legit twins lol.. this was another great one for the books, Chris! Thank you for this 👏🏼👏🏼🤙🏼

Agreed
Freddie should start his own podcast
You can tell his stories are 100% facts. No bs. Always respected this guy.
I could listen to this guy tell stories all day, he's got a huge knack for it. No wonder he was on the writing team
"Emmy's are what they are but wrestling belts are better." - Freddie Prinze Jr.
I wanna get that quote on a t-shirt lol
Chris is such an amazing interviewer doesn't interrupt and just letd them tell stories. Doesn't try to hog the spotlight at all. Thank you Chris
