- This time i'm working on my 2000 Camaro SS with the LS1/T56, we are installing a brand new MGW short shifter kit! this should help with power shifting at high RPM and improve overall shifter feel. Personally I cant recommend this shifter enough if you have a T56 transmission.

So you took off the good short throw shifter and put on a different short throw shifter. Probably why some of the boot bolts were already missing. Someone previously installed a short throw shifter. Thanks for the video.
I don't think so, this transmission has been out several times and I'm the 7th owner haha.
The shifter I took out was the factory Hurst option shifter which wasn't bad at all, better than the original non Hurst unit, but I'm very happy with the MGW, I did want to try out the Tick performance shifter too.
You had a rare factory Hurst shifter in the car, I believe a 700 dollar option from the factory.
All 98-02 camaro Z28/ss had a Hurst shifter standard and it's terrible lol
@@HackSquadGarage most F body m6 cars came with a stamped steel shifter that was even worse than the Hurst option offered. I had 2 of them and they were so bad that shifting into second gear would actually hit the console.
Cool video car sounds sweet!
Thank you!
Good video! Thanks man!
Perfect
I had a 320mm wheel for a while in my ceta. Moved up to a 350. The 320 was just to small.
where did you get those seats
They are from a company called Cipher Auto, ive had them for about 3 years, love them.
@@HackSquadGarage they look good in that car
Thanks! i appreciate it
I know this is old but where did you get your steering wheel??
I bought it directly from Grant racings website for about $150 if I remember right. They make the adapter boss kit as well but they have been getting harder to find.
So worth the $$?
Definitely worth the money over stock
Can u tell me the size of the thread for the ball with the stock shifter???
It should be M16x1.5
@@HackSquadGarage wat is that like half an inch
Which clock position is you shifter at?
I have it at 9 o'clock and set to the tallest setting.
I have a 2000 trans am 6speed with a brand new tick master cylinder and pro 5.0 shifter but I still cant shift at high rpms 2and 3rd over 5k is like Impossible
You could have an issue with the slave, or you need to adjust the master more to grab higher. I had that problem with my stock master.
What shifter knob did you use? Does that kit come with one?
It's a Hurst knob I got online. It did not come with the kit I had it before
Hey bro so I have a 1988 Z28 5 speed and looking to purchase a short shifter ? Any recommendations
I've heard really good things about the Hurst short throw shifter for the T5 transmission, also Manzo makes a good one. Never tired either of them tho since I don't own a T5 transmission.
Whats gauges are in the piller cluster?
I have wideband air/fuel, oil temp and trans temp, things I like to keep an eye on while I'm beating on it.
What size handle you got 16 mm (oem size) or the 12 mm x 1.75 pitch ? , I have a 96 z28 SS
It was the stock size as I had this knob before the shifter upgrade.
Thank you for the response back, how long have you had it and have you had any issues with it yet ?
@@michiganboy1869 so I've had it on the car for more than 2.5 years now. No issues at all. I really enjoy it. It is really tight and notchy which I like.
