I actually went to this video shoot when I was like 12 years old...I think it was in like 89 or something. Me, my sister and my mom were all in the video - Mick was AWESOME and took a kick as picture with my sister and was really nice to all of us...I'm at 2:58 - The paper-boy!
I was on the crew for this video. At the time it was significant. It was only the second music video shot in HD in the US. It was directed by Academy Award wining director Zbigniew Rybczyński. It was also on the of most ambitious chroma key (green screen) videos done at that time . It also used a groundbreaking computer controlled camera that matched the background camera moves with multiple layers of foreground images. Many shots have four layers of video which was remarkable for analog tech at the time. That said it was a tough shoot. It was a huge cyc and we had constant lighting problems, it was the middle of a heat wave and the lights made the studio so hot the camera kept shutting down (and we all had heat rashes), the conveyor belts they were running and dancing on kept breaking -- but Mick was a pro throughout.
***** Near the end we were shooting 24 hours straight so we had to take extras anywhere we could get them. The casting director was stalking the all-night diners in the area and trying to convince people to come be in the video. I can tell you there are some odd people at diners at 3am.
I am happy for your accomplishments and I appreciate your talents and I am pleased o hear that Mick was cool to wok with. I still think w/out Keith he is nada but together.. MAN!!! Mick solo tho? I can't believe the record people thunk it!!! Have you heard how they were thinkin about promoting Mick solo and that it went to his head and what Chrlie had to say about it?

Sitting here watching my brother in law with his kid sit around all day when I have paid them to do a job that takes about an hour to do. All I could think of is this song. Generosity can sometimes breed humility so take a deep breath. I think I will ask them to leave and do it myself. They need the money more then me that is why I asked them to do it in the first place. More trouble then what its worth.
I was in this video as well with two friends. We are the last three firemen at the 2:35 mark. I am second from last. We were 19 or 20 and got the "call" from a friend of a friend that Jagger was at Boken Studio on 26th St recording a video for his new single. We weren't terribly happy that Mick was recording solo ANYTHING. But we digressed, went in, waited 6 hours, 2 of them in a stifling hot fireman's outfit. After all said and done, we got 4 seconds. I still can't stand the song.
He s so incredible....i get more of him as the years pass. If we could all get the moves like Jagger.....the world would be a much better place......even if we had to guess his name.......Long live this icon.....Blessed is he who is honest to himself/herself....thank you for the freedom Mick....and leading the way for us, all of these years....You are the Music!.....and Magic!
