- A full walkthrough of Terminal A & B at Washington Dulles International Airport. Dulles Airport (IAD) is located in Loudoun and Fairfax Counties, Virginia, 26 miles (42 km) west of downtown Washington, D.C. It is the second-busiest airport in the Washington metropolitan area, after Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport (DCA). Dulles is a major hub for United Airlines, and also serves as a focus city for American Airlines, Delta Air Lines, and Southwest Airlines. The airport offers flights to over 200 destinations in the United States, Canada, Mexico, Europe, Asia, and the Middle East. This tour focuses on the gates used by the airlines other than United.

I lived in the flight path of Dulles for 7 years from 1987-1994. My favorite thing was when the Concorde would take off. That plane was awesome. I used to love hearing the planes fly by at all times of day.

Thanks for the tour! I’ve never been through IAD and have always gone in and out of DCA and BWI. I like how open and uncrowded the spaces are and all the premium lounges there.

Yeah, Dulles does not have one runway haha... It has four.
Only San Diego has like 1 run away. Pretty small for an "international" airport (I live in San Diego so I can confirm this)

I have a quick connection pulling into IAD gate A6C tomorrow, and I’m departing from D7… based on your video it seems further away than I anticipated! Whats your recommendation for quickest route to D? I’ll have less than an hour to work with..
The mobile lounge to the D gates is probably your quickest route there provided it's running.

Chris, I will have a 5 hour layover in Dulles in a few months, with United. I want to check out the United Club since I now have access to it, but would it also be worth checking out the A gates? Is this enough time to do both?

Am surprised to see how its not very busy
I deliberately book flights with long layovers just so I can check out and photograph the airports. Especially if the airport as several lounges.

Interesting AvGeek fact:Our mutual hometown Lindbergh Field is actually now the busiest Single-runway airport in the World (we passed by Mumbai in passenger count last year)…(also has one of the lowest weather-related delay or cancellation rates in the USA)

Generally between 10,000 to 25,000 steps a day
There is only one terminal at Dulles, A and B gates are on one concourse, C and D on the other. It's a single unified terminal airport.

You said Dulles is a single runway airport. This in incorrect, there are three parallel runways (1R/19L, 1C/19C, 1L/19R)

Going on a plane first time on Tuesday, where would I go first ? United
United is a whole different gate area.. you'll go to check your luggage in. Then go thru security check. Then take the air train to the C or D gates where United flies from

I had planned to do one inside the Turkish lounge but I got there just as they were turning over from breakfast to lunch so not much food when I was there
