    good to hear! just stay away from the mr.gasket regulator! it will eventually leak and burn down your ride! I had one on a car and it started leaking pretty bad. luckily I caught it but others arnt so lucky.
    best of luck!

    Best and most accurate way to set the idle screws is with a vacuum gauge ; just set at highest vacuum and they will be perfect; same with timing !!

    • @speedyg2577
      @speedyg2577 Год назад +1

      Sorry but not always the case with timing. Just went thru this with a 289, set the timing to highest vacuum but then the hot start was lazy. So, had to back off the timing a bit which lowered the vacuum. So, the timing ended up being 18 degrees BTDC.

      @@timklein3962 100% agree, on my vacuum gauge it put it back into the late ign timing area. But what are ya going to do, you have to listen to what the engine is telling you. ✌

    assuming timing and advance are set correctly, it seems to me that you may have improper jetting. I have not bought a carb to date that I haven't had to re-jet. I would check your plugs to determine if its rich or lean. im leaning more towards the rich side because it seems that when the throttle blades are open(engine gets more air) it really takes off and burns the fuel. but it could just as easily be lean because when you press your foot down the accelerator pump injects more fuel.

      If what your sayin is correct then mine carbs obviously rich on fuel mixture,but the problem is the screw adjustment ' it just turnin at the same place no matter how you try...any input how to rectify this..tnx

    Idle circuit does have an effect on all circuits beyound it, even tho it may not seem but so strong

    id just pay close attention to the plugs, if they have a light dusting or blackened color, its too rich. if they are white or a very light tan then its too lean. your looking for a good caramel tan color.

    Check for vacuum leaks. Is the choke operating properly. Pump gas. Set the screws at operating temp in high gear. Readjust main idle screw.

    Does this make it easier to start a classic car like a 1968 Mustang? Because mine acts like it’s not starting, I have to pump the gas a couple of times before it starts.

    • @gamesofcontent
      @gamesofcontent 5 лет назад +3

      You should have to pump the gas once or twice. I pump the pedal once, then hold it at about 1/4 throttle and let up as soon as it starts. Carburated vehicles have a mechanical fuel delivery so it needs the fuel pumped into them unlike modern fuel injected vehicles that are computer controlled.

    Idle mixture screws do affect your driving when cruising at small throttle openings.

      no, it doesnt at all.
      it affects idle only.

    Hello, can you tell me what would cause the carb to only run when gas is pour directly into it. The 79 Bronco had been sitting and it ran. I had it going but tried to restart it and it acts like it ain't getting fuel. Checked the fuel filter and it was good. I'm thinking plugged jet or something plugged. What are your thoughts?

    • @ThunderHead289
      @ThunderHead289  9 лет назад

      James Archuleta id first start by making sure your getting fuel to the carb, disconnect the fuel line from the carb and feed it into a bottle and turn the engine over (assuming mechanical pump) if the bottle fills then you can move to the carb.
      next is a massive vacuum leak. check all hoses for cracks or being just plain open to the air. a lot of the factory holley carb plugs tend to crack, especially the ones on the back that are huge.
      check these and then get back with me, this is what would stop the car from at least trying to start. if you cant even mkae it sputter with foot feed, its definitly one of these two above.
      best of luck!

      It will run when I pour fuel into the carb directly, but once the fuel run threw it dies.

    • @ThunderHead289
      @ThunderHead289  9 лет назад

      look to the above two i mentioned. make sure for me that the carb is even getting fuel by how i described. if i were to be working on your vehicle myself, this is what i would do first.

      Did you check inside to see if your throttle was stuck open or the ideal screw could be turned into far and the dieing not enough fuel from pump or dirty jets
