After 2 years and several hundred fish later, I am going to give you a status report on the Fishability of the 2021 Shimano Zodias rod. I believe this video will go along way to help hone in on your quest to find a rod that suits your style of fishing and save money at the same time. This rod does fish above its price point So be prepared for a great time on the water.

First off hope your family and friends are safe from the effects of the hurricane. Thanks for showing your rod reviews with a reel on it. Always nice to see the rod seat with a reel on it so you can see the whole handle. Especially if you don’t prefer exposed threads that your hand or finger can come in contact with. Have you tried the new Stradic FM ? I was wondering how it compares to the Vanford. I know its lighter but I kinda like the heavier metal construction opposed to the carbon/plastic on the Vanford

Do you like your Zodias or your Tatula Elite Cody Meyers rod better? I was considering buying a new medium rod for wacky rigs and for multipurpose uses. Your videos are so good and helpful.
The Tatula elite Cody Meyers signature series rod is a better rod than the Shimano Zodias rod. Also, you can find better deals around the internet for Cody Myers Tatula than the Shimano Zodias. 👏🏿👏🏿🎣

hi, congratulations for your videos..I wanted to ask you some questions about the zodias with casting 7-21 grams. I would like to buy it for saltwater fishing. which minnows and jerks can it handle? (minimum and maximum weight and length) which soft baits can it handle? (inches and weight, minimums and maximums). I'm afraid it won't be sensitive to soft weightless baits or those with little weight
Because of the specificity of your question, I would recommend that the only baits to throw with the combo m are the ones within the lure rating of the rod. So for example, the Zodias 7‘5“ medium heavy action rod has a lure rating of 3/8 ounce to 1 full ounce. The plastic baits plus the hook weight should be within the lure rating of the rod. The length of the bait is only material to replicating the size of the forage. My experience with a number of these rods in my arsenal is that they are very sensitive, particularly with bottom contact baits. Keep in touch with me if you want more details. 👏🏿👏🏿🎣

The current model or the discontinued model. if it is the current model, see if you can get a warranty replacement. If it is the previous model, look about to see if you can get another one sold a a deep discount. I have seen them selling retail for as little as $230. That's just $15 more than a Zodias. 👏🏿👏🏿🎣

i had it for over a year. the most lightweight and sensitive rod i ever owned but snapped on me when trying to remove a snag

Do you have any grat inexpensive spinning combo for Pier fishing 🎣 that I can buy for long casting lure and metal Jiggs and different size lure for Pier fishing would that medium heavy spinning combo would be good for Pier fishing
An Ugly Stik Inshore Select medium heavy action rod paired with a Lews speed spin reel size 40, 400, or 4000. The combo at full retail will be about $120. However, there are many sales that you could find at Dick’s Sporting Goods, Bass Pro Shops, and other places where you can get that combo down to about $80.👏🏿👏🏿🎣

Opportunities to purchase the Zodias for a discounted price occur sporadically. For example I just bought a 7'6" Medium Zodias for $177 about 10 days ago. When you are looking for deals, search with retailers who have generous rewards programs suc h as Dicks Sporting Goods, Omnia Fishing, and Bass Pro Shops. 👏🏿👏🏿🎣
Zodias or st croix legend tournament?
That’s a split decision. The Shimano Zodias is better than the St Croix Legend Tournament when throwing reaction baits. However the St Croix Legend Tournament outpaces the Shimano Zodias when presenting finesse baits. The difference is in the actual bend of the rod. The softer tip of the legend tournament gives it the edge over the Zodias. The Zodias bends just enough for superior cracking. 👏🏿👏🏿🎣
Is paying $200 worth it for the Zodiac 7’6” Light model?
Yes. If you had to pay full price. My recommendation is to look for deals that come along and places like Dick’s Sporting Goods, Omnia Fishing, and other places around the Internet.

Go to omniafishing.com. They have a 20% off sale right now which includes Zodias rods. With that discount along with the rods come in at about $168. If you already have an account with rewards points, you can get it below $160. With good searching, you can get deals like that in several different places on the Internet.

Is the med heavy pretty stiff?
No. The medium heavy bins about 40% below the tip. So would be more of a fast them in extra fast. I believe that’s what makes it such a good reaction bait rod as well.👏🏿👏🏿🎣
