Always loved to watch those kind of classis movies, even when I am an older woman now - and from Germany - use to watch "roots" and loved it very much - when I was still young but all these amazing black actors just did touch our all hearts and souls - over here - by very many people! Thank you for uploading all these kind of movies for us.👍
This is one of my favorite Movies of all time, this film was absolutely the best movie EVER made. All the actors and actresses in this film were awesome especially Paul Winfield, Kevin Hooks, and Cicely Tyson were Awesome. One thing I loveed about this film is the storyline and the charming soundtrack. There were a lot of beautiful scenery of agriculture wow.
Magnifique film. Les acteurs sont merveilleux, les paysages tellement beaux et l'histoire très émouvante. Quelle leçon de vie et d'amour nous donne cette famille face à l'injustice et la pauvreté.
Superb movie, one of hardship, poverty and love! Great acting which portrayed those hard days but also the compassion and courage of the people that lived in those times.
Just 11 minutes in and it's so beautiful....this people were so rich, physically poor but so rich, comparing to today - how families are between each other and respect and dignity and joy in harsh conditions that's something we never know...
Kids talk about getting whoopings and their great grandparents being mean. Grandparents being hard on them about everything. Watching this movie would give kids a honest answer to why they were like that. Taught from their upbringing back in the day and dont know anything else. I can imagine being that little boys age seeing his parents work hard and always ending up with nothing. Make you understand why parents like Joseph Jackson existed. On one hand he wanted better for his children...on the other he didn't know anything else. He knew what his parents showed him. HARD work, pray, be strong, stay focused. Whoopings got the job done if them kids got outta line. As bad as it sound, it made some kids do the right thing. Some kids need whoopings now more than ever IMO. I know the difference between whoopings and axx beatings by ya parents like you a grown stranger in the street. Discipline, strength... structure. Focus on the goal made the Jackson family BLK Hollywood royalty/global icons at the end of the day. Kids don't know real struggle, real hard work, starting from the bottom fr...and Joe Jackson had 9 kids in a 2bed room, working 16 hrs A day 6 days a week just to feed and clothe the family. They wonder why granddad so hard and mean, why everything they do grandma always think it's not gods word...why he always tell us clean the yard before we ask for anything? Why grandma always forcing us to church? That was the way of BLK families 🤌🏾🙏🏾💞. That faith in God, work ethic, education... strength...stay together and love each other. But ppl say you abusing your kids if you raise them that way.
Such an inspirational account of love overcoming ingrained hardship & oppression - magnificent landscape matched with excellent evocative quality musicianship & actors - Great to see & hear the classic, Taj Mahal. Loved the school teacher Camille Johnson - she is brilliant. 🙏🏾👏🏽👏🏽
This beautiful human story was read to my 4th grade class by our teacher. He cried when he read it to us. He also read "Where the Red Fern Grows" and also choked up when reading. These are real human stories that stay with one for life. Cherish them. Those days are gone.
Hello !! I agree racism is alive and well here in America …our government along with the news media has done a wonderful in dividing us …why ? I do not know !!! We must overcome them ..the love of Christ must prevail and we must prevail as one !!! I’m in south Alabama . White male !! And I swear I cried so many tears as to how it was for this family !!! I love all people and I do and will always treat any person with respect and hope it will be returned to me !!! Gods peace
Yes and all others including President Lincoln and the Union Army who helped them get that freedom from horrible whites who bought them and horrible blacks who sold them!
Wonderful movie of the hardships of sharecroppers and the depression era. Now I can see how my daddy lived growing up w/o a father who was killed by a railroad accident. He was an inspector on the Terre Haute-Indy line using the old hand cars you see in very old movies and cartoons. They were motorized by 1930, but the wheel was loose, he told his boss each day for 2 or 3 days, but the boss said not to worry. On his way back home, just 6 miles from journeys end, the wheel came off, throwing grandpa off and down the ditch and the wheel landed on him. It happened where the RR line splits off into two and a manned RR tower was right there! They called for an ambulance and got him to the hospital. 6 hours later he died, leaving behind Grandma (who only got a 8th grade education), a 12 yr old girl, a 8 yr old girl and my daddy at 2. If it weren't for Grandma's nephew who worked at Kraft Cheese, dad says they would have likely starved. He would get a 5 lb block of cheese on major holidays, and gave it to Grandma instead. Everything in this movie shows dad's life, including pumping the water outdoors, and using an outhouse. Dad started working at age 8....they all worked!
I hope your childhood taught you that whatever your color, life can be unfair..and now , as one white person to another, lmagine what it was like to be a black when the only step up was to put your boot on the throat of a black man...
Thank you for your story. How horrific. Were there ever any repercussions for the boss who did not listen?? Did anyone admit fault? My sincere condolences to you and yours. A loss like that is felt forever. 🎉🎉
Absolutely wonderful movie with real-life experiences and grimecy in our people had to put up with heartless racists and wickedness but with sheer resilience determination and love🙆😢😂❤️ Thank you for sharing historical educational information 💯💖💖👏👏✊👍
I remember seeing this in school when I was younger. Sad how David Lee had to walk so far to try & see his daddy. Good movie. Hard working family, including the children. And showed respect for their parents. Another good movie is Old Yeller. Most youth today don't realize just how good they've got it. And some got it too good.
I was so excited when I saw the side to take the time I write them in there to look at it. It’s one of my favorite child hood movies as long as I live below such a beautiful story of a poor family share cropping never getting anything for work, they were so much fried and this family that’s what we need today. The basics love and endurance over pain. I just love this and did a wonderful job and Paul Winfield may want to see him more and more so exciting to see this.❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
One of the best, no matter how many times I watch this classic it’s like watching for the first time the strength and family love is breathtaking. 👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽
I love this movie. I didn’t grow up with racism in my tiny town. Living in the city and being surrounded by racism in my world and on the news is affecting my very soul. Racism comes in every color. I believe our politicians want to divide and conquer us.
It was a shame that the father got in so much trouble for just stealing a couple things Now a days you would get away with no punishment The blacks were treated terrible which was terrible. I could see spending a month or two in jail.
We are the only country to have treated a people so bad, make a movie about it, and in 2024, treat those same people exactly in the same way today...IT'S no wonder we could even imagine to put a sexual offender in the White House..gotta admit, we're a very sick Nation...
This is the way the old South was, I am classified as white I had many black friends. We didn't see any difference yet because we were friends the other white people would call us names and do horrible things to some. It's was hard growing up in the old South. At times it was a bloody war.
my kind of movie. Real people overcoming hardships with courage, patience, joy and love.
And of course sounders 😂❤🐶
Cicely Tyson most Greatest black actress in the whole wide world 🌐 🌎
Yes in deed she's always been one female actress I really like.

I watched it years ago, still one of my favorites. ❤❤❤
I agree with you this is a classic 4-11-24
I watch old movies like this all the time
I remember our class went to see this movie in the late 60's early 70
I am middle class by American standards, but these folks are richer than I could even imagine!
My Mom and Dad loved this movie!❤❤❤❤
When David and his dad have that chat it was simply just beautiful.
Love my people. I love how Miss Boatwright showed her kindness and love to help this family. There was so much evil and racist today.

Lovely film. The way the father was with the children and his wife. Great music.
To all Africans living in US, and to all Black men and women who gave their lives for freedom and liberty of a Blackman today.
Los negros de hoy no agradecen la libertad que conquistaron los de ayer
Hard degrading life for that era
Amen it truly was 🙏🏿

So many incredible injustices we had to endure… that will power for so many years… I want to “thank” my ancestors…❤❤

Interesting title for a wonderful film. I wonder why they chose to name it after the dog. Maybe because he endured struggles of his own too.
