I'll say it: I'm pretty disappointed at how Atlus seems to be treating the P3 rerelease as an afterthought. Porting P3P with messy AI upscaling feels like the least possible effort they could put in. This was a great opportunity to do a "P3 Perfect" style release with the best of both games, finally bridging the gap, but instead it seems like they're doing it more out of obligation than any real interest.
Geez, a "Persona 3 Perfect" that merges both FES and Portable to be something more definitive was something I was thinking about when watching this video! A ground up remake of FES with stuff from Portable like the female protagonist would be something awesome!
It's because persona 3 is the least favorite game in the whole series. Atlus probably doesn't think 3 is going to sell well. That's not what I think but hopefully we can surprise them that persona has a fan base
@@austematicthatragic4352 Atlus/Sega are just quite dumb. I mean, look how they market their next game "Soul Hackers 2". There is nearly zero western marketing and the game will be out in 1 month + 1 week. They concentrate a lot on the Japanese marketing, but there is no Switch version lol.
TrueHD Project Lead here. I'm glad you discouraged the Atlus-bashing, I've seen a lot of that since our trailer was released. I'm surprised at how well you communicated TrueHD's goals and intentions, very well-researched! Good video and good showcase, that was a fun watch!
Important to note: FES with player-controlled party members isn't magically Portable's gameplay; Portable backports mechanics from Persona 4, most notably the dizzy status, stunning a knocked-down enemy for a turn. In FES, hitting a knocked-down enemy makes it get back up. There's also various changes to interfacing with your party members, but that's the biggest one.
Yeah, this is very important to note. P3P's in a weird place, where I 100% prefer playing with manually controlled party members, but when you do, it becomes very clear the original game wasn't designed around it. Extra things like the Skill Cards can also make P3 as a whole seem easier than it really was originally.
There are many more important mechanics that Persona 3 portable differ from FES. Main character can no longer equip any weapon but is forced to use 1h swords or Naginatas depending on gender. Mitsuru gets rapiers to differentiate from MC. This obviously makes most good weapons, most notably ultimate weapons and some unique fused weapons, unusable by MC. Once more also works differently with skills that hit all enemies. In Fes all party members or enemies have to be weak to attack to give once more, in P3P only 1 character is enough. For example if your party is hit by Maragidyne when you have Mitsuru (who is weak to agi) in it, in P3P enemy gets once more but in FES they will not get extra turn. Also getting up from knocked down status doesn't take a turn in P3P, making it harder to get stunlocked by enemies and stunlocking enemies by yourself. I feel like all these changes have bigger effect than controllable party members. Then again, I never had a problem with the party members AI, like I used Mitsuru but she used Marin Karin like once during the entire game. You'll always want to scan enemy to upgrade your party AI even if scanning reveals no information. You also never want to have AI on the default Act Freely since that makes party use moves on random. Many players straight up refuse to interact with the AI system or don't take full advantage of it which annoys me to no end when these players bash the system they don't fully understand.
@@Newageretronoob Correction: Act Freely does not lead to characters using moves at random. Each character has an affinity for different skill types and, if put on AF, they will default to those skills if they do not know the enemy's affinities eg. Junpei with usually use physical attacks, Ken/Koro will prioritise Hama/Mudo, Mitsuru will focus on ailments etc. They will readjust once the enemy is analysed but it's usually better to put them on Full Assault anyway because that's when they focus on their heavy-hitters, and after the scans, Knock Down, because PMs will mainly default to party-wide skills and, considering the aforementioned knockdown mechanics, this can be a waste of a turn. It's so frustrating how often P3's combat is written off, it's a very nicely-designed system.
It feels bad that this was all done right before P3P was announced for PC where this could of been done a lot easier due to the magic of modding on PC.
The creator of the TrueHD mod for P3P has stated that they would port their mod to the PC version, if possible, as they are dissatisfied with Atlus' official upscale. None of the work is going to be wasted.
The brilliance now though is that playing modded 3 FES on a Steam Deck is an ideal way to play the game. The PS2 graphics with the HD texture pack look surprisingly good on that small screen.
It’s pretty disappointing that Atlus didn’t capitalise on the fact P3P is no longer held back by the PSP, they could have tried to bring it in line with FES. At least Persona has a pretty dedicated modding community that will grow even more once P3-5 come to PC.
I vividly remember toiling on the P3P HD UI mod late nights after work, tracing the elements in vector to achieve the high res look. Eventually had to stop because of how time-consuming it was (and I needed sleep!). The emergence of AI upscaling was the boost the modding community absolutely needed, I am so glad at where things are now. Wishing the current modding team all the best.
I do wonder if Atlus will ever remake Perosna 3 with all the good from each version. Like walking, The Answer, and anime cutscenes from FES and controlling party members and Female route in Portable into on version
I think they have that in mind, which this year's P-Sound hints at. I do think the rerelease of P3P is mainly to give the player an extra opinion, like if they don't want to play the remake, they can just play what Atlus thinks is the best way to play the original, much like how if you don't want to play Final Fantasy VII Remake and would rather play the original, it's available on the Switch and Steam. I think that's what Atlus' approach with this.
I thought of maybe a remake that take the original main story with makoto yuki. Can take anime cutscenes from anime or something. Add some more stuff to the game Also the title. Maybe called P3LIVE or P3 reboot
Controlling party members is awful in P3, it goes against the main theme of the game. It's no Persona 4 or 5. The female route is garbage as it is written for a male character still and doesn't take into account how women/girls are treated and addressed in Japan. It adds nothing. There's no good in P3Portable which is a fully garbage release.
@@FuzzyDlop The direct commands is actually optionable, as in you don't have to switch to it and just play the game as if it's FES, as you can do in EVERY Persona game since 3. Also, one interesting thing is the option to play as either a male or a female protagonist was actually an idea for the original game. So, the plot was written with that idea in mind. But, you don't have to play as the female protagonist and like it if you don't want to. There's aways the male protagonist in P3P, which is pretty much like FES.
The female route is garbage as it is written for a male character still and doesn't take into account how women/girls are treated and addressed in Japan. It adds nothing. It's possibly the single worst addition to a Persona game ever.
@@FuzzyDlop ... Huh? Pretty much all the social links for the female protagonist are different. Characters DO interact with the female protagonist differently. What are you on about?
@@FuzzyDlop na how is that the worst addition to a persona game ever? your trolling or your high or something it is not even close to being the worst addition to the persona series
So glad to see these covered! P3 certainly has issues when it comes to which version to play but the mods/cheats for them are so great! Been really eager to play through the games again and on top of the new ports, these will improve it even more :)
If P3 ever gets a definitive edition, I kinda hope they remake it in the style of Dancing in Moonlight for the presentation. They already have the models and a base idea for the look of the world... why not? Of course, they'd have to make some changes to the gameplay, which I'm cool with (even though I'm used to the faults of FES by now.)
This is the way. Using Dancing's models it could be very easily achieve the look of P5 on that regard, but then the problem would be all the locations. Even then, Atlus is very lazy sometimes so I have no hopes on anything official
@@FuzzyDlop It has a shitton of faults, what are you talking about xDD You can get softlocked for not knowing how high level you should be. I had to restart 15 hours in due to it. I had no way of beating the boss as i did the same thing i did in P4. Level up personas, make new personas, level up in general, level up social links, all in a balanced manner. Still was fucked.
I'm definitely checking out the FES HD mod when that comes out. However it's still somewhat of a bummer that P3 just seems cursed to have a lot of its core improvements locked behind two unique versions of the game, even as someone who does prefer Portable
I'm gonna lose it though when a group of people says "Fuck it, let's all mash FES and Portable together (irregardless if they keep Answer to only male protag and no FeMC ver), improve on it, and add the stuff that was only in Portable into FES."
All the stuff in Portable is garbage and would ruin the masterpiece P3 FES is. Althought it already did that just by existing. The female MC is garbage and written for a male MC. It adds nothing. Combat system in P3P is garbage too.
The only thing that might be a problem is that the game might become too complex yet at the same time too easy? Being able to use all types of weapons, having elemental weapons through weapon fusion and fusion spells, all of these mechanics mixed with skill cards controllable party members and other mechanics from portable might make the game overly easy due to the easy access to a lot of op items and abilities, i mean just with a random nihil weapon and a strength persona you can get a weapon that gives Auto-tarukaja, and the four main elemental ones give boost to their respective elements so you just need a 2° tier elemental increasing damage ring, and you 2 slot spaces you would use with an amp and an bossy skill being used for other things, and some fusion spells like Armageddon are pretty op, even Jack Bros is good. And don't forget the fact there will have 3 physical attributes.
You can tell that Persona 5 had a bit of both the 3D exploration and more immersive aspects, but also the 1 button to teleport to places which is an upgrade to point and clicking from P3P imo. And that way they please everyone and i honestly prefer this moving forward. Now i do wish they remade some of the old games like P1, P2 and P3 into something more like P5, but if they don't want to do that and they want to bring more Persona games or spin offs, i'm kinda ok with that too. Cuz' it just means we get Persona 6 faster.
It doesn't mean we'll get Persona 6 faster as Atlus doesn't have teams to make remasters or whatnot and they don't stop entire teams working on new games to remaster old ones. The only way they could remaster Nocturne was by taking two handful of SMT developers who were working on SMT 5 and making them "remaster" Nocturne when SMT 5 was close to being finished already. The result was a Nocturne remaster that wasn't a remaster at all. It's the cheapest and laziest thing ever sold at full price. But SMT 5 was never delayed and came out when it was supposed to.
Downloaded the HD mod for steamdeck and it's simply the best way to play the game. How atlus didn't do the work these awesome fans did is beyond comprehension. Thanks for the food work!
Hmmm, not sure why we shouldn't ask more of Atlus? It's really disappointing to me that they're doing such a rush job with this port after all this time. The game and franchise deserve better. And anyway, I'm all for asking more of big companies.
We as individuals are free to demand better, but an outfit like GoodVibesGaming is obliged to make an effort stay in the good graces of the publishers of the games they cover. Jon might not have been so quick to sugarcoat it if he had been a solo RUclipsr (but we'll never know for sure.)
@@StevenUlyssesPerhero I don't understand how not sending the message that we shouldn't ask more of big companies is something that would put them in the bad graces of any company... it's like if every negative review from every outlet needed to end with "but we still think they did a swell job!" To be clear, this is a very different thing than condoning harassment.
@@timrattray companies can be pretty fickle. Even something as minor as suggesting they do better can put you in a bad perspective. They just won't tell you that you're on their list. It really depends on the company.
Thanks for making this and linking the mods in the description. I couldn't get them running but it's still really cool of you to list things like that.
I mean I've tried modding FES before and still couldn't get into it enough to continue after the first couple hours but I think I'll give it another shot after this video, thanks!
That persona 3 remake rumor better be real because persona 3 portable is indeed a sad rerelease with very little changes to the original, still gonna play it tho since I wanna get those achievements but when it gets a sale
I've never really messed around with mods like this as I'm a bit of a purist, but I still admire this kind of work from afar and it's nice to see it all showcased in a presentation that does it justice. Awesome work as always, Jon. =)
FYI the P3F Community Enhancement Pack is honestly the way to go when modding persona 3 FES. It’s a collection of mods all set up for you with a easy to follow wiki to help you through the install. Adds a bunch of quality of life features and more. Would recommend doing that instead
Man at this point companies should create a special department to work closely along with fans like these. The final product would be so much better, and both parties would be happier. The company would end up making more money, and fans would get what they want.
What’s funny is that the only thing that was holding p3p from being a FES port is system limitations, otherwise it’s the same exact engine as P4G, hence why they likely ported p3p over p3f because it was a seemless port
12:01 Ha, that's clever, I think they used the official art for that one. It's the first picture that comes up when googling "persona 3 dark hour art".
12:00 - lemme guess, taken from one of the movies? This stuff is incredible and while I vastly prefer P3P over the original/FES its great to see fantastic HD mods for FES.
P3P is garbage and by far the worst release in Atlus's history. It's an insult to Persona 3 and its fans. Everything about P3 FES is superior as that is the TRUE Persona 3. Portable is a much easier and casual version that ruins the essence and core theme of trust of Persona 3 by letting you control party members like every person incapable of playing a hardcore JRPG would want to. Clicking on stills like a straight up visual novel, instead of being immersed in japanese locations(which is the point of playing a Persona game) is awful and ridiculous. You didn't not play P3 with P3P. It's a garbage game that has nothing to do with it.
@@FuzzyDlop oh yeah sure, but I actually played P3FES, not P3. So that counts, right? Oh yeah and I trusted Mitsuru not to break into her stupid Marin Karin fits, but each and every single time she did and never stopped frustrating the shit out of me. Much like the pre-P4 turn mechanics. The "trust in AI" thing would've worked out great if it didn't make me feel like a cripple in the second half of the game where I would need to bend down to the whims of my AI partners and there's a good reason it became optional in P4 and P5. Because at some point it stops working right. I would much rather NOT waste time scanning each and every enemy I see and actually utilize my party members at their best I can manage.
12:00 Holy- that looks so good!! I just wish Atlus properly P3 for everyone to play, would be so good to be able to play the combination of both games. I mean they're totally can do it
As a video encoder with around 8 years of experiece I have to say that I do think we could do something about the anime cutscenes. I have encoded mostly anime and while I usually preserve the original ratio and resolution and keep filters tame, I have experimented with upscaling old DVD footage before and depending on how well the footage has been rendered before it was pressed on the disc, I sometimes could get some pretty amazing results with the right filter settings in place. I don't know how the footage is stored on a game disc though and if it would be possible to extract it lossless in a format, that can be processed by programs like VirtualDubMod. But even if the raw footage would be in a bad shape and not that much improvement can get squeezed out, I think it would still certainly look better than just taking over the original footage like what you showed in the video.
Quite literally the only thing that prevents me from playing P3P is the fact you can’t walk around in the overworld. I would much rather wait for a PS5 remake of Persona 3 FES with all the story, and maybe any changes to “the answer”’s story if it matters with FeMC like how the original story changed
Hey, look! One of my mods made it into a cool video! Deinterlaced Cutscenes and High Quality Music are other mods that I’d give a HUGE shoutout to! We’ve tried to mod Persona 3 FES to match the modern day standards as best as we can without access to the original assets.
I actually recently finished P3F and The Answer using Phoenix's New Moon mod and a Party Control mod, so I'm not ready to dive in the game again this moment, but I will say it looks absolutely beautiful. We'll see how Atlus releases P3P later as it's still in development, but I'm already tempted to just forget about it and wait until the mod is completed for that game. Thank you mod community for all the work that you do to show your love for these games! Atlus should be paying you guys to work on their ports to modern consoles.
Someone is working on a 3D overworld mod for P3P, and there are HD model mods too so that tartarus looks even better. I have a feeling in a couple of years the P3P mod scene will make it the definitive version of the game (hopefully someone mods in the answer too)
3 will always be my favourite. I recognise that 4 is objectively much better and improved in so many ways, but my personal opinion is 3. It was also an impulse buy. I was buying a PS Vita to replace my PSP, and I just happened to see this big chunky box in the corner of the bargain section at my local game store. I was collecting art books for games at the time, and I saw it was a special edition of P3P with the art book still included. It was only around $10 too. I picked it up not having any idea what Persona was as a franchise and having never seen it before. Took it home and played it on a whim, turned out to be a 2 month long obsession. Loved it. For me, P3P is the only version, as it's all I know.
Such a nice voice, I like it. Also good communication skills. I will take a look at more of your videos. As for the mods, it still complicated to choose between them (just like the vanilla game)... I honestly don't know. Such a sham Atlus didn't released a special version of this game similar to Golden and Royal, but it is what it is, at least the fans are trying their best to make this playable
One thing I would like to see make the jump from Portable to FES would be the fast travel system. It would make exploring the 3D areas throughout the town a lot more convenient; although I understand that that would take a lot of time and effort to code for. I am so glad to see these games remastered and looking fantastic! Thank you to everyone involved.
isnt P3FES the definite one, as with the Answer, Aigis talks to Igor and Elizabeth and in P4 Arena with Aigis Story, Elizabeth and Aigis reference it. and in Elizabeth story, she mentioned Aigis as a Guest in the Velvet Room. which only happened in FES
I've only played the portable one since I prefer playing as female and can relate more when romancing male characters. Wish there were more femMCs in persona!
Modders have always carried these games imo. When Persona 4 Golden was released on PC modders went in right away and improved so much. Its gotten to the point where theres a huge community pack that is stupidly easy to install giving you the best Persona 4 experience. Im sure once 3 comes to the PC that modders will do what Atlus didnt care to do.
Has there been any solid confirmation that the official P3P release is going to be a 1 to 1 remaster (ie made HD , but gameplay and mechanics staying the same?). If not, I half wonder if Atlus's release will low key end up being a definitive edition with FES gameplay, controllable party members, cutscenes, fully explorable maps, but just labelling it as portable as it has the FeMC route included.
for those that don't understand why someone would prefer p3p and the 2d overworld exploration, its for time saving purposes. I only have so many hours a day to play games and every bit i can save helps me get further into a game.
late comment but P5 is 3D and you have the teleport option (best of both), Atlus just failed with 25th persona anniversary not announcing a remake of P3, pretty much as blizzard failed with diablo immortal announcement during blizzcon
I will always prefer FES. Portable has nice additions sure, but the drawbacks it has are just a little to much for me. Not having a 3D over world is disappointing, and not having any cutscenes with 3D models can hurt some story beats and also gets boring to look at after a while. FES isn’t a perfect game either, far from it, but I feel it has less drawbacks in comparison. I know the big one is non controllable party members, and people will automatically pick Portable just for that alone, but I honestly think it’s an overblown issue. At least with my experience, my party members generally did what you would expect them to do. They might do something stupid every now and then but it rarely hurts gameplay for me. Plus the game is generally designed around it, so it’s not that big a deal.
Honestly, I kinda like The Answer. Bold statement I know but it’s just fun to have more time with characters I love. Is it worse than The Journey? Yeah probably. It not having social links definitely hurts it and makes the game drag in a way The Journey doesn’t, and some story decisions are baffling, but overall I still like it and would call it a good and worthwhile addition. But I’m also the guy who way prefers vanilla Persona 4 and thinks Golden is just worse, so what I say probably doesn’t hold much water.
I'd be curious to see someone port the ultra high-poly models from P3 Dancing to FES. I guess you'd run into the issue of not every character being modelled in P3D but I suspect the community would be able to come up with custom models.
Good News: your wish is granted!!😊 Bad News: It's not going to feature the fem protag nor "The Answer" epilogue....😑 So it seems we got monkey paw'd if that's even a word....
Might wanna do an update video on this with two added things. One is there's a mod for P3P where actually replaces all the character portraits and sprites seen in the point-and-click hub worlds and cutscenes with ones that uses the HD models from Dancing in Moonlight and new ones which you might've seen in fan-made pictures and videos. It's amazing and it makes you wish we've gotten a remake of Persona 3 instead of just a port. Two is I've seen someone on Twitter posting a series of progress of trying to recreate the hub worlds in P3P to be more like FES, and it's pretty good, but I don't know if they'll be able to do anything about the cutscenes, especially since the ones exclusive to the female route would need new models and animations.
This is why I'll be playing the remaster on PC once the modding community gets their hands on it. P4G got massive mod support that made my replay of it take a fraction of the time and also made it look amazing.
The whole party member control thing is wierd, the games difficulty was based on not having full control. If you just swap in the P4 party control system with P3s mechanics the game becomes too easy. The biggest issue (which effects ally and enemy) is the knocked down system, with full player control you can manipulate the game so that the enemies are constantly getting up, since if your turn arrives when you're knocked down you waste it getting up.
You can still do this in p3fes, but I comes with the risk of having your party set to do nothing! Very good risk/reward balance design that goes out the window if you add party control
These cheat codes are actually mods, they're just machine code patches to edit the raw code of the game to fix things. It's kinda given away by the comments like "nop check for if battle unit is not mc -> ai". Since the modifications are so small and simple, mostly minor adjustments to control flow that fit in place, they can be done just as cheat codes using a cheat device.
I have original hardware and Fes and the only change id make is increasing EXP by up too 50% and sub members not in party gaining XP. For a few months the original full team is just fine then all the sudden there’s a hard counter and grinding gets real obnoxious with the protag getting sick from exhaustion.
Not me beating FES for the first time 4 days ago. Thankfully I actually modded it using all of these and then some, so can vouch for the quality here. A word of warning though, I advise being careful with mods as I managed to somehow cause some of the anime cutscenes to not play, including the ending.

Really wish they had just kind of remade P3 from the ground up. Base being FES, with the added elements that P3P added, i.e. FMC, combat mechanics, Social Link fixes, etc. while still maintaining the cutscenes and activities from FES. Can only hope someone someday has the gall the try this.
Skill cards is one of the features I liked about fusion and spent more time worrying over what to fuse. Also faced a hard time on the Persona 4 (PS2) which lacked the feature. This wouldn't be as troublesome if it wasn't for the ran random skill allotment.

Thank you and the team so much for this!
I feel like it idavertently makes the game easier, which is the only unfortunate part
@@Newageretronoob
Correction: Act Freely does not lead to characters using moves at random.
So wait the reason the AI version was bashed so hard was because people forgot the scan function and AI settings?
It feels bad that this was all done right before P3P was announced for PC where this could of been done a lot easier due to the magic of modding on PC.
The creator of the TrueHD mod for P3P has stated that they would port their mod to the PC version, if possible, as they are dissatisfied with Atlus' official upscale. None of the work is going to be wasted.
The Persona 3 FES mods have existed for a while before now, Aemulus even longer.
The brilliance now though is that playing modded 3 FES on a Steam Deck is an ideal way to play the game. The PS2 graphics with the HD texture pack look surprisingly good on that small screen.
The modder said the hardest game they modded is Persona 3 fes not Portable which is not on PC anyway so he didn't lost that much
hd mods for both games have existed for a long time now
This was a fun watch, thanks for the showcase!
Don't forget skill cards from p3p and fusion spells from p3fes
I thought of maybe a remake that take the original main story with makoto yuki. Can take anime cutscenes from anime or something. Add some more stuff to the game
Also the title.
I dream of one day being able to play the female protag in FES with the animated cutscenes and everything. maybe one day? :0
I bet it'll happen in 9-10 years
The female route is garbage as it is written for a male character still and doesn't take into account how women/girls are treated and addressed in Japan. It adds nothing. It's possibly the single worst addition to a Persona game ever.
@@FuzzyDlop ... Huh? Pretty much all the social links for the female protagonist are different. Characters DO interact with the female protagonist differently. What are you on about?
@@Omar_Al_Seddik The main story isn't well written for her though, which is a valid point imo
That artwork was actually included in the artbook for the game. That's where they've pulled the high quality version from
If only they'd combine the p3p content, control of all the characters, and the FMC into Persona 3 Fes for a definitive version.
P3 FES has no faults.
You know, and when I got Dancing All Night, that's what I thought it was. A resource dump. An excuse to make alllll the resources ahead of time.
Junpei's "dance" wasn't even a dance, it was just his old aniamtions
I'm definitely checking out the FES HD mod when that comes out. However it's still somewhat of a bummer that P3 just seems cursed to have a lot of its core improvements locked behind two unique versions of the game, even as someone who does prefer Portable
...you did watch the video right?
@@LostSoulSilver They will never be able to port FEMC to FES (or it will take forever if so)
it's like 87% complete and you can currently download it it looks real nice!
I always wanted a definitive version of P3 with stuff with portable and fes combined. Because there's great things in both versions I prefer.
Fuzzy uh oh someone’s angy
@@FuzzyDlop sheesh talk about being childish, grow up will you?
I'd love to see a P3 remake using the same UI as dancing in moon light.
Not just the UI. The whole assets. I want Thanatos out of the ps2 limitations.
thanatos was in p5/r
@@dniwetamp ah I didn't know that. I thought they only took Messiah/Orpheus for the dlc
We don't need a remake now. We need a persona 1 and 2 remake.
I'm definitely going to go the Fes route on my PC, the cheats/mods look amazing
I love persona 3 it was my introduction to this beautiful series
I'm not the modder, but thank you for covering this. I hope it gets more attention that it deserves and the mod got more support in the future.

Meanwhile Persona 1, both parts of 2, the rhythm games, and the Q games are a bit stuck.
@@naliboi93 Does not matter if rhythm games are ported or not, but I wish Persona 1 and 2 was released with better gameplay 😕
Atlus needs to hire these people to work on getting Persona 3 FES out
I mean I've tried modding FES before and still couldn't get into it enough to continue after the first couple hours but I think I'll give it another shot after this video, thanks!
If you still can’t get into FES, play P3P as FeMC. It has some huge QOL improvements that make it much more fun to play IMO.
Thank you.
Dang that persona 3 fes ps2 case looks way cooler than the aegis one
Man at this point companies should create a special department to work closely along with fans like these. The final product would be so much better, and both parties would be happier. The company would end up making more money, and fans would get what they want.
Mitsuru will always be my P3 waifu, and I will never apologize for it
Great character but literally all she does in battle is spam a spell that never works...
What’s funny is that the only thing that was holding p3p from being a FES port is system limitations, otherwise it’s the same exact engine as P4G, hence why they likely ported p3p over p3f because it was a seemless port
It's not a remaster, they're too lazy and cheap to even remaster it. P4 is not a remaster either on PC.
Fuzzy by definition it is a remaster
I mean they're totally can do it
so far the best informative video I watched
Man, as soon as the music started playing...
I was instantly taken back.
"But don't do that or I'll get you"
Damn, take my like 🤣
As a video encoder with around 8 years of experiece I have to say that I do think we could do something about the anime cutscenes.
The number one mod I want for Fes is to be able to choose persona skill inheritance
Aemulus mod manager + gamebanana saved my life a few months ago
I hope the modding scene once it's on pc makes this easier for the modders to implement their great work.
Quite literally the only thing that prevents me from playing P3P is the fact you can’t walk around in the overworld. I would much rather wait for a PS5 remake of Persona 3 FES with all the story, and maybe any changes to “the answer”’s story if it matters with FeMC like how the original story changed
You aren't missing much
Combination of Fes and Portable would have been amazing but sadly we didn't get that from Atlus
Should we tell him
Someone is working on a 3D overworld mod for P3P, and there are HD model mods too so that tartarus looks even better. I have a feeling in a couple of years the P3P mod scene will make it the definitive version of the game (hopefully someone mods in the answer too)
I'll buy p3p but I'll definitely wait for these mods cause they look so good
thank you for giving me a reason to play p3fes on my pc now :D
i was gonna play it on a ps3 but i wanted the game to look nice while i enjoy it 💯
3 will always be my favourite.
Shinjiro gang aproves the ad in the video
3D env for P3P is being worked on right now! Super hype.
Yeah once the Persona 3 Portable TrueHD mod is done I'm applying that gorgeousness to the Steam version.
IT'S JON FROM NINTENDOLIFE!

O wow. I've never finished P3 but I'm going to now. Being able to control the party members is so good.
I'd pay full price for Persona 3: FES Remaster with all these mods/cheats improvements.
I was hoping the multiplatform of P3P was going to have the 3D elements of FES but with P3P's content. That's all I really want in life.
One thing I would like to see make the jump from Portable to FES would be the fast travel system. It would make exploring the 3D areas throughout the town a lot more convenient; although I understand that that would take a lot of time and effort to code for. I am so glad to see these games remastered and looking fantastic! Thank you to everyone involved.
this is already a mod for FES!
@@light5315 Oh! I did not know that was already a mod. Thanks for letting me know.

isnt P3FES the definite one, as with the Answer, Aigis talks to Igor and Elizabeth and in P4 Arena with Aigis Story, Elizabeth and Aigis reference it. and in Elizabeth story, she mentioned Aigis as a Guest in the Velvet Room. which only happened in FES
the new dark hour backdrop is just official concept art. it's a good idea to use it.
I've only played the portable one since I prefer playing as female and can relate more when romancing male characters. Wish there were more femMCs in persona!

I'm thinking I'll probably just play that FES mod and then do a FeMC playthrough of portable whenever that comes out
Let the record stand that P3P looks great on Vita.
I second that statement
Modders have always carried these games imo. When Persona 4 Golden was released on PC modders went in right away and improved so much. Its gotten to the point where theres a huge community pack that is stupidly easy to install giving you the best Persona 4 experience. Im sure once 3 comes to the PC that modders will do what Atlus didnt care to do.
im about to play 4 any chance you can direct me to that mod pack? :)
P4G on PC is perfectly fine without any mods tbh
Has there been any solid confirmation that the official P3P release is going to be a 1 to 1 remaster (ie made HD , but gameplay and mechanics staying the same?).
If not, I half wonder if Atlus's release will low key end up being a definitive edition with FES gameplay, controllable party members, cutscenes, fully explorable maps, but just labelling it as portable as it has the FeMC route included.
I hope, but I do not believe.
This is way better than what Atlus gave us
Actually there is a mod for fes that uses the movies to replace some cutscenes
for those that don't understand why someone would prefer p3p and the 2d overworld exploration, its for time saving purposes. I only have so many hours a day to play games and every bit i can save helps me get further into a game.
late comment but P5 is 3D and you have the teleport option (best of both), Atlus just failed with 25th persona anniversary not announcing a remake of P3, pretty much as blizzard failed with diablo immortal announcement during blizzcon
im happy to own P3p and FES on original hardware but it's nice to see this entry of the series get some love again
Great video, very informative
I'm hoping these remaster mods will be made for the pc port as well. I can stand these really old games getting very minimal remasters.
Dude P3P sure has some Drawbacks but The Answer Gives FES So Many Drawback Points That I Don't Want To Talk About It
Honestly, I kinda like The Answer.
The emulator is already very picky about stuff, so trying to modify game models to be higher-poly would just cause a crash.
p3d models aren't even high poly
they are very well made though
Thanks for covering this. I knew very little about the game. I'm hoping they merge the best of First and Portable. Maybe?
Sadly in 2023 this is still the best way to experience P3. Hoping for a P3 Remake soon
Good News: your wish is granted!!😊
Bad News: It's not going to feature the fem protag nor "The Answer" epilogue....😑
So it seems we got monkey paw'd if that's even a word....
Someone is also attempting to make a 3d hub for P3P and even though its only one section that kinda works its crazy how someone is able to pull it off
Multiple locations have been added since then, and they got shops and stuff working too on the overworld
Great mod showcase
P4G got massive mod support that made my replay of it take a fraction of the time and also made it look amazing.
hey look, p3fes, my favorite game ♥️
Edit: THEY ANNOUNCED A PERSONA 3 REMAKE LETS GOOOOOOO
For the cutscenes you could use deinterlaced cutscenes mod or rebirth cutscenes.
@@dez4668 exactly it's likely the reason why the dizzy status exists in p4. The whole get knocked down lose your turn is ripe for exploitation.
Thanks to this video I started playing persona 3 FES, and now I have depression
Never understood why Atlus didn't just make a Persona 3 ultimate or something that combined FES and Portable. Like it's such easy money
Is there a tutorial or anything you used to get all of this? It seems very overwhelming right now.

Very Nice! Persona 3 is one of my favorite game, i love P3 story and atmophere more that Persona4
I JUST FINISHED PLAYING THE JOURNEY GOD DAMMIT (playing it again)
All these negative comments about atlus I wonder how people feel now with the Reload release
