Big fan of Benny and the Cresta, how does it handle on the street with the ladder bar rear end? I rewatched the OG build vid and i saw that it was not a 4 link but a ladder bar config. I guess if it is bushed well it will allow a bit of flex. Got an IRS car i'm wanting to go solid axle with haha
@Joe Blow Wrong. Mark II and Cressida are the same but rebadged. Cresta is different bodystyle. You might as well say the Soarer and the Chaser are the same too. 🤦
@Joe Blow Also, as someone who has been rebuilding their Cressida for the past couple of years, I can tell you that NO Cresta parts fit Cressy's or vice versa. 😂
@@jakeclarke779 for big HP they fill the water jacket with grout to make the engine block stiffer apparently. This Barra is half filled as he said I'm not sure it's needed at this power level but I really don't know.
‘Quickest Japanese car’ There really isn’t anything Japanese left except the body, engine is Australian, turbo, fulll drive line and wheels are all American.
Absolutely marvellous machine by one & only mechanical stig 🇦🇺💪🏽
Can not deny that Ford Australia 🇦🇺 really hit the nail on the head with the barra, i love my ba mk2 turbo 6 speed manual.
I feel like i've seen this Bearded Gentleman somewhere 😂
I've always loved this car since the first MCM videos, then thru DragWeek in the USA, etc etc
This event needs more advertising cheers.

Nice Benny. Just needs more lamb sauce.
And one of the nicest blokes to boot
Has that thing still got a ladder bar rear end? I always wondered how the got rego with that set up. Engineers don't like ladder bars on street cars
I seem to recall it getting defected at some stage and it now being trailered everywhere
it probs was regoed then ladder barred right after
@@H4KD11 Good point
@@AttilaThebung Really? Doesn't surprise me, that's why I never post any of my cars... Don't need or want that attention
Is the car running new livery now? Hope he, Benny P., Al and Woody get back to the 'States next year...
I'm not sure if the car was just set up for a bit of a soft leave or Benny's RT is a bit rough. Either way the car more than makes up for it
Epic sleeper!
Great video!
You knew right from the start @ MCM it was gunna be something special :)>>>>
Has the paint on the side of the cam cover melted because of the heat coming from the turbo? Should probably add a heat shield or something.
I think that is heat tape
Watch the first drag week. That’s from 2018
Officially one of my favorites Cressida in the inner webs
Except it's a Cresta, not a Cressida. 🤦

Bout time mate
Well done 👍🍻
If anyone can get an FR (front engine, rear drive) car into the 8s at Coota, it's Benny. 👍
At what power level dose the Barra need grout? Anyone really know? There seem to be much more powerful Barras out there without grouting.
Can you help me understand this grout?
Never heard of it before
@@jakeclarke779 Basically partially or completely filling the water galleries in the engine block with a cement like grout

I was thinking it was this but wasn't sure, thanks legends
Most shops like to do it at around the 1000hp mark, although people run that and higher without doing it
mechanical stig who couldnt afford 2j.. dis the barra to no end then builds one to eat his words

Still a Toyota on the registration though
VIN is Toyota, either deal with it, or cry some more and maybe your Mummy will buy you a lollipop to cheer you up?
