The thing that is most ridiculous about the giga armored Zen was that the armor went UNDER his shield, so shields would just regen over the armor. You had to get through most of his health just to touch the armor and any remaining just had shield regen over it.
plus iirc the armor stacking was bugged so his shield health had the damage reduction ON TOP of his regenning shield

@@boodro8832 was that a bug? I always thought that was an intended interaction with armor, just when it existed the only extra armor came from torb scraps so it wasnt as huge a deal

@@Absinthexx7 no it was a bug. Shield health has no damage reduction typically, but since the armor stacked underneath the shield, it gave the shield the armor reduction with it

Consider that this character could almost combo a 200 health hero, survive almost as much as a tank, and heal everyone around you while doing it. It was broken.
And had favorable matchups against most tanks.

The insane part to me was that just by naturally playing the game, you could tell that Winston and Rein were invalidated by an ulting Brig.
Like I get being anti-dive, but they really let that slip to live servers?
@V$OP Cracker My guy, if you aren't a bot... you are either a baiter or need serious help. Either way you should not only take a break from overwatch but the internet as a whole. Half of the points you make are explainable with common logic, and even if you are right exclaiming it as fact with no proof or substantial evidence besides "just watch the streams you can tell" just comes of as unhinged. Maybe I'm to blame for expecting to much, but this sounds insane. If you are a real person take a break and go outside or get some help. Edit: the fact that you've not only posted this multiple times but also replied with the same comment here only makes my last sentence all the more important take a break brother.
The painful part of OG Brig was how long she was OP for. It had to have been well over a year that she absolutely terrorized the game. Probably closer to 2 years since she still saw a lot of play time in OWL even after role lock
She was a part of the goats meta so that's 2019, in 2020 she played a huge role for most of the season with dive and double shield comps, in 2021 she was a part of the ball comp and still remained the best support in the game. Yup, pretty much all Overwatch 1.

She's literally the reason why OW2 is a thing in the first place. The devs didn't know how to balance her so they made role queue a thing to avoid goats, and then OW2 was announced because she singlehandedly killed the game.

brig players were delusional enough to think anyone liked them at all. i mostly say it cus anytime anyone said brig was too much brig mains would lump and say she was skillful and that anyone who disagreed was automatically a "genji main"

Imagine the devs creating a support that can duell tanks and cancel every ult in the game and they think it's a good idea
They did the same with hog lol, and technically Sojourn cancels ults, you just headshot them as soon as they start to speak their ult line

They have created an ability that can clean, heal, make you invincible, intangible, kick you out of the game, make coffee and dirty your entire family tree, all at the same time
@@enegar2536 But not with a 5 sec. cooldwon, combined with several other survival abilities, auto aim with self heal and 600 shield. A kiriko can´t shut down a reaper ult. Brig could shut it down or just tank it. That's a big difference.
Jeff said it himself, In WoW He came up with the idea of Druids being able to do a wide fvariety of things. Tanking, healing and DPS. Brig was supposed to carry on that idea but it failed horribly. I forget sometimes Overwatch was supposed to be an MMO, not an FPS............

As someone that played since day one, its so frustrating watching streamers mislead new players. The game was horrible BEFORE her release since yo could not do anything about dive heroes. They were far more oppressive, because they had no counter, while Brig had plenty.

I just want to know what the balance team was smoking when they launched her. A 400hp giga-brig with a 600hp shield was horrifying. Nano rally basically turned her into a WOW raid boss
I remember when Brig was just released... playing no limits was literally HELL
old brig tips was just stun and beat up people, if you're low then just shield and whip shot them away. Now that they removed the stun and actually balanced her, the new strat is just deny any dives and keep inspire procced
nope inspire was infinitely more important back then, now she has 3 pack charges and although the bonus armor from it is gone, ist healing is stronger. you should check out holyshiftkid's new brig guide

I was a brig main during this time. While absolutely unfair, it was hilarious stunning coaels and 1 shoting tracers. I remember one of the earliest ways to counter goats was Mei if you didn't mirror, I remember realizing that brig was maybe too strong when I saw a soldier, Lucio and mercy together and instead of regrouping I rushed in and killed the soldier with the burst, even while being healed, and forced both supports to abandon cart. Those days were amazing and I am glad that I played overwatch during the time. The flail jump bug was amazing on horizon lunar colony.

I was one of those brig mains too, I miss the glory days, she was too much fun. I played her so much at that time that to this day, she remains my most played character

the molten core change was introduced to counter Goats and Brig specifically. That's why molten core does bonus damage to armor, to eat the rally armor.

molten core was changed in the second half of 2018, while micro missiles were added in the second half of 2017 along with the mercy rework

I remember the season I frauded my way to T500 with brig, and a few seasons after that did the same with Orisa.
Natural rank was like high Masters support and low masters tank, so I get the whole “carried by your character”.
I was a Tracer main back in OW1 and to this day she still gives me PTSD.
I remember there was an aimbotcalvin clip of him getting booped around as rein on Oasis before he got his passive buff. The enemy team was made up of a doom, brig and road hog. Truly the dark age of OW
I wasn't playing before 2020 so this Brig didn't exist. So glad I missed that time.

No, the game was very different back then. Brig was really slow back then, and anything with a gun countered her. Also there were two tanks.

Streamers have gaslight you about what people played back then. GOATS was not a thing outside OWL and GM.
The devs literally had a name for that delusion that "Brig countered everything". They called it "forum Brig", since that version only existed in social media.

@@judebrown3588 That wasn't Brig specifically. If anything, Zen and Lucio were bigger contributors to GOATS than Brig was.
The amount of ults you could easily cancel or counter with her base kit is insane, and on top of that you have her rally.
Fun fact, Brig's current rally armor actually has bugged calculations. More specifically, she has Bastion's health pool, i.e. is missing 50 armor. The most obvious example is that she should be able to survive pulse bomb with about 15 HP, but she can't. Also, she can still duel a Winston no problem, he just doesn't do enough damage on his own to be scary to Brig. You can also still deny his dives, but it's much tighter thanks to the passive.
As someone who plays a fair bit of Winston the Brig matchup is actually really interesting. If you land his jump + melees as opposed to straight telsa cannon it is possible to win the duel but it’s very tight. And you basically have to focus her first otherwise she can heal pack her other squishies or boop you away

imo they should bring back the stun, but that's about it. Without her stun, she's not the Peel goddess she used to be. Today if a Genji dives your Ana, whipshot and hope he sucks because that's about all you can do now. She used to have all this utility, but now she's literally just Proc Inspire --> Dash Away repeat until game is over. The way you carry as Brig today is literally just staying alive...

If Ana
1) misses her sleep
2) misses her anti nade and basic shot
3) her brig misses whipshot
That Ana deserves to die in that team fight.
Your tanks job is to make space and peel for your backline if they’re in danger since otherwise they won’t have the healing output to sustain a fight.
And if a genji (no nano) dashes in and uses his blade, an Ana left click and nade and whipshot should kill him.
People completely underrate how hard it is for a genji to time his double jump perfectly, 180 accurately and dash behind an enemy to not be hit (still vulnerable no shield to hide behind and risking his life and ultimate).
If people think that a stun to completely deny that and remove the need for good positioning idk what to say

But besides a complete rework, her abilities stack up and can become really potent with too many buffs

When I first started overwatch I played Brigitte (I had no idea what any of the characters were) and Lucio. I was platinum when I really should’ve been silver. She carried me two entire ranks my FIRST EVER season of competitive.

I love how COMICALLY overpowered she was. Like Moth Mercy was insanely OP, but Brig was so OP that it became like comedic how far it went.
"Oh yeah this new character has one of the highest non-tank HP pools and with a 600 HP barrier, can one shot tracer consistently, has a 5 second damaging stun from shield, has a passive heal for her and her teammates, can give her teammates armor while healing them, has a ranged knockback that triggers her healing, has an ult that counters most ults in the game, can reliably 1v1 several tanks even without her ult, her ult puts armor under shields so that health can be regained, her armor persists after teamfights, her armor has a miscalculation in game that makes it even more effective than normal armor, she can safely stun through shields, her shield bash interacts with map geometry to allow her to do super jumps, a bug in her kit allows her to use her flail to fling herself forward, her stun counters most other stuns in the game, her cooldowns are all super low, her ult charge rate is fairly fast, her ult also grants a movement speed boost.... and all this is for a support".
Like c'mon, as traumatic as those days are you gotta admit how incredibly fucking funny it is that a character existed with THAT much going for them. It's like if they made Doomfist at launch have his rocket punch insta-kill anyone it hits and also he has CC immunity and 90% damage reduction when charging it also he gets 100 shields whenever he lands it and it's on a one second cooldown. At some point it's just absurdity.

The Brig being a mini Rein wouldn’t be as bad today because of the one tank. Tank dies then Brig can step up or if you have an off tank then you can give them room to do what they do.

Brig was the reason I quit overwatch. I still come back occasionally like how I've got the itch now but I'm a casual through and through. I've since never gotten the same drive to play as before brig. I'd be impressed if I completed a third of the bp.

Because of how often she was used it made playing Reaper almost impossible. You didn't get life steal off of shooting her shield, and your ultimate is just completely negated by the shield bash.

As someone that's always been a Brig enjoyer, this was the equivalent of a high school jock remembering his college football days in his 30s.

Killing a tracer with that combo is still possible without stub, just the damage from the bash even if it doesn’t stun as long as you are fast.
