I created a public tier list for Star Fox Command's pilots to coincide with this video! For those who've played the game, I'm curious to see where certain characters will be ranked for you. Share your results with me on Twitter/X! tiermaker.com/create/star-fox-command-pilot-tier-list-16688196-4
The biggest, completely unforced error of Star Fox Command is introducing this massive variety of ships, including one of Nintendo's first online multiplayer experiences...and only letting you use one ship in that multiplayer! To this day, I'm baffled by that decision.
Interesting content^^ I just don't have real NDS, but i played that game on Android and PC. And I think the game has been unfairly shat on, even though it has story problems (I watched your video about the endings in the game and really liked it). Now it's interesting tier list about pilots
Wow, first time hearing that Panther's theme song, it just fits him like a glove I find Panther as an interesting character just for being sort of an evil Tuxedo Mask with the rose and everything, and that song really helps that image, sounding a lot like Spain's Flamenco
God i love this game. Its not perfect but the switch to all range and characters getting way more dialogue are the right direction and a true follow up could really be amazing
I follow through one of the best ending for this game to be honest. This concept for Star Fox command was in something because it’s not just the story path you take. It’s about the plot you want. Which I see it underrated about this game. I even love the story plot line from Starfox Assault and Advanture. These three games are still underrated to me. I never got the chance to play them, but where I see it. This unique concept is by far was something. Starfox Command is similar to Shadow the hedgehog (2005) (I still adore to that game). Edit: Ending 2 on Starfox command will always be my favorite ending of them all.
Interesting placements of the characters. However, the one I personally don't agree with is Leon in the S tier. I personally place him in the C tier as his ship's weaponry isn't as effective compare to the rest of the other characters. He's only good for weaker enemies and I recall some times I ran out of time with him due to his ship's weapon. So in short, Leon is basically the last resort type character. I would also rank Amanda's ship in the C tier as her ship isn't anything unique or special and I would have Lucy and Katt in the B tier having some powerful weaponry. I'll make my own tier list in the comments after posting this. The part with the missiles, I personally try to give character with lock on the shot as they have the best case of destroying them quickly, though when you brought up the mission 'The Worm', I would leave Fox behind at the Great Fox on replay mode from the Stage Selection with the single laser, single lock, and two bombs while Krystal has twin laser, a single lock, and a single bomb. But I'll have to replay the whole story to see how things play out as it's been a long time I done so, even though it's my least favorite SF game I own next to Star Fox Zero and weirdly Guard (I mean who plays that?). When it comes to other characters like James, Bill, and Katt before Command it was cool to play as them. And, for Bill and Katt in particular, they get actual theme songs instead of just jingles like in SF64 and Zero. Though I do wish there was some fan made recreations of their themes. As for James, his presence in the story doesn't make any sense nor does his ship choice as he's uses the SF64 model, it's at least cool to see him playable to a degree. But my theory on him is that he's stuck in between dimensions unable to return home given his appearances in the end of SF64 and Zero (and Andross' comment on him not staying dead). As for the new character, I personally like Lucy, she's a neat addition to the Star Fox characters as Peppy's daughter. I wish we saw her outside of Command and see Peppy's father side play out by taking care of his daughter to an extend. Amanda is fine, but I do wish there was a little bit more to her than being Slippy's love interest and wanting to help out much like Krystal in the awful prologue to the game. Dash is a rather strange one. Being a fan of the Star Fox crew, being a member of Coneria's military force, being Andross' grandson, and his out of nowhere 180 character switch to becoming like Andross. Maybe there's something that for him to work as a potential boss for Marcus McCloud as you suggested in your Top 9 Ending ranking video or a potential ally but that's another topic at hand. About your comment on the multiplayer mode, here's what I can tell ya. I remember playing that mode back in middle school more than a decade and a half ago during my bus rides with another two other kids that were at least 2 grades younger than me (if I'm remembering correctly). The experience to best describe it is that it's kind of like Star Fox 64 3DS' online multiplayer though I have not played that game on 3DS or N64. If you're to ask me, Assault's mutliplayer is the king in the franchise and among Nintendo's best next to Smash Bros but that's getting off topic. The multiplayer Arwings are basically like Fox's default Arwing 2 only the colors are different for each player. I don't seem to remember what the color order was for playing the multiplayer. The setting for the most part from what I remember is all set on Corneria, but it depends on setting like a city, the plains, the valley, ocean, you name it (at least that's what I seem to remember). Though it would've been cool to play on other planets, asteroid field, sun, and nebulas. And I think there is a time limit during each round so it's basically like Halo's multiplayer Slayer mode where if you get the most kills, you win. Anyway, this was an interesting video of yours again. The individual ships are a neat idea to fit each other the character's but with some adjustments and ability to modify the ships, it be really cool to have an unstopable ship like in StarLink Battle for Atlas.
Agreed, I thought that since it could only lock on *once* per enemy, and with the delay inbetween firing, those 2 would hurt it's "DPS". In fact, IF players could pick ANY ship, then I would've seen his Rainbow Delta as a beginner ship. which (of course) would quickly get outclassed 'cause of... again, it's poor "DPS" "and I recall some times I ran out of time with him due to his ship's weapon" Although I wouldn't say that I ever ran out of time, I'm sure that I have lost/wasted alot playing with his.
Not gonna lie, I absolutely HATE the Zapper. That thing feels like it's hitting nothing. When I first used it against the Anglar Emperor... Ugh, the suffering. Personally, I'd go for the Wolfen Mk III and Peppy's Arwing as the best fighters. The Arwing because of its lasers and time bonus and the Wolfen because of its lasers and lock. For Leon's ship... The wide lock damage is way too low for it to be an S-tier and the Bullfrog not having a lock is kinda annoying, even if it's tanky. All the others I can agree with.
one of the reasons why I'd use Panther's ship every time, is 'cause I love ships with cannon-esque weapons (as in, emphasis on damage-per-shot, and are willing to sacrifice Rate of fire) For Slippy's Bullfrog & Falco's Sky Claw, I've read that the former's the closest to a Bomber, while I see the latter as this game's "Light Fighter" As in, the kind that're generally smaller, and with superior mobility. (Speed AND Turning) But at the cost of being more fragile.
Late comment , but as someone that has played Command , unlock all endings , have experience and experimented , I do agree with most if it but disagree with some : - Leon should not be even in S tier , you even mentioned how bad he is on missiles and on even bossing. Like sure he is good on “some situations” but being good situational literally makes you C tier at most - Falco is actually at least Top 3-4 on the game , I know the shield and “him spawn and dying” can be an issue you cant control but he is equip to deal with the most annoying enemies and any type of it too because of “multi lock”. - Fox should be S tier alongside Wolf. The main two reasons is because he is very well rounded plus depending on the route he gets upgrades. Either twin lasers upgrade or multi lock upgrade. - The best character of the game by itself is pretty much Wolf. He is like Falco but with twin lasers and better shield. Also alongside Fox and Falco , he is also there on the hardest levels in Venom. - The “availability” you post at the end on how available are each pilot could give them extra points. For example , Fox and Falco are the Top 2 with the most levels but their “kit” are pretty much made for multiple objectives and are not “situational” like Leon is
I will disagree with the placement of the Rainbow Delta, the ship of Leon Powalski. Even you mentioned the many types of enemies you avoid fighting with it. If you aim for high scores you tend to forgo the use of the Rainbow Delta, alongside the ships of Katt (Cat's Paw II), Lucy (Sky Bunny) and the Cornerian Fighter (ship of Bill and Krystal). I used to play and compete for world records that were posted in SF-Online, this was back in the day (2006-2007). I also used to do the same with SF-Assault. I was the first to link the three enemy gauge combos in Fichina (mission 4) and Aparoid Homworld (mission 9), only defeated by D. Schiering for almost a decade. Thanks for uploading the endings to this game.
I do have experience with the multiplayer in command from what I recall you would fly in arwing II’s against each other and there were upgrades you could get around the map while fighting that upgraded your lasers. I don’t think there were any lock on upgrades though. Though your laser color depending on what your arwing’s color was.
Indeed, there were no lock on upgrades, but there was a stealth mode power up that basically made you impossible to see if you weren't right next to your enemy.
putting the Tadpole in A tier just convinces me that you were smoking crack when you made this list. the Multilock isn't nearly as good as you keep insisting it is and the woman has no boost.

I knew basically nothing about this game going into the video, but this was still a great watch.
Well, let’s just say, as someone who also completely beat this game back in the day, the S tiers are 0% a surprise
Just started the video guessing Panther is number 1

This game did Krystal's character development dirty but this was a cool vid though

16:20 I don't mind. Some peeps and characters do exist for someone else or have their thing revolve around someone else. Especially Krystal.
Haven't played Command in years but, Panther, Peppy, Crystal (SF not SW), & Wolf are my top-tiers! & Plasma-upgraded Fox in that specific route.
Hell yeah, thanks man
