      Not only do the laws violate your cognitive liberty, and your freedom of thought, but they are also an affront to the fundamental principle of equal application of law. Nevermind freedom of religion and therapy.
      A portion of Casey William Hardison's speech to MAPS from around a decade ago:
      "Governments world wide have signed up to the three United Nations drug Conventions as a model for dealing with a select group of substances but these international agreements are framed by the West in terms of an irrational distinction between familiar drugs and unfamiliar drugs. This inevitably leads to unequal treatment under law and this is where a legal rather than political case can be made.
      This past December the UN General Assembly in their resolution entitled 'International cooperation against the World drug problem' stated that "drug control activities must be carried out in full conformity with the purposes and principles of the Charter of the United Nations and with full respect for all human rights and fundamental freedoms". Yet, by direct experience, I know they are not.
      And so, as a prisoner, it is to the Rule of Law that I turn. Drug Policy is the implementation or administration of Drug Law by the Executive branch of Government and accordingly, the law dictates available policy and not the other way around. Laws and the principles they embody are to be generally applied by Governments in a neutral manner.
      In the case of drug policy, the principle aim is the reduction of harms to individuals and society from the consumption of dangerous or otherwise harmful drugs. And since drugs are property, drug laws in both the international and the domestic arena follow the property rights of commerce. These are: cultivation, production, manufacture, packaging, transportation, trade, possession, and use.
      Significantly, drug laws do not regulate drugs, drug laws regulate people. Thus, it is wrong to speak of legal and/or illegal drugs as no drug on the planet is in fact legal or illegal rather it is the exercise of property rights by human beings with respect to drugs which may be made unlawful. It is a very simple concept but by convention we have become so accustomed to speaking of legal and illegal drugs that we forget it is the person who is being regulated and thus drug laws affect the liberties of people.
      And so we come to the crux of my argument. Drug Laws regulate the property rights of people yet they do so in an arbitrary, unfair and irrational manner. This is contrary to the rule of law. On one hand, we have a group of drugs which it is legal to exercise property rights in, such as alcohol and tobacco, and on the other we have another group of drugs which it is currently not lawful to exercise property rights in. So, the question must therefore be asked: "Is there a rational and objective reason to distinguish between the two groups of drugs?”.
      The short answer is no. It is "historical and cultural precedents” rather than "pharmacology, economic or risk benefit analysis” which provides for the distinction. This has an uncanny resemblance to racism, sexism and homophobia for it was historical and cultural precedents which kept the unequal treatment of these individuals in place for so long.
      Crucially, basing a drug policy, that is the administration of drug law, on subjective and ultimately arbitrary historical and cultural precedents results in the under-regulation of the conduct of the electoral majority who prefer to exercise property rights in drugs property such as alcohol and tobacco whilst over-regulating the conduct of cultural minorities who prefer to exercise property rights in other drugs property with substantially similar or even less potential to cause harm to individuals and/or society when misused, i.e., psychedelic drugs.
      This unequal treatment is contrary to the Rule of Law principle of equal applicability of neutral laws. As such, I believe this unequal treatment denies equal rights and equal protection to all people whilst contributing to tens-of-thousands of unnecessary deaths and imprisonments each year on both sides of the legal distinction and neither the people nor our legislatures intended these consequences.
      I call this unequal treatment, this denial of equal rights and equal protection, drug discrimination. Drug Discrimination is based on a false distinction between familiar drugs traditionally used by the majority and unfamiliar drugs traditionally used by minorities. This distinction lies at the heart of our Governments' failure to reduce harm from the consumption of and commerce in dangerous or otherwise harmful drugs. And it is this distinction which cannot withstand legal scrutiny. And so it is to this distinction that I take aim.
      When it is understood that democratic Governments worldwide are implementing their drug laws unlawfully based on this false distinction then the current paradigm of drug law administration will transform from a predominantly polarized and punitive approach rooted in a subjective historical and cultural distinction to an evidence based approach committed to reducing potential harm whilst maximizing the benefits of drug consumption and commerce.
      The solution is simple: using best policy guidance on risk management and policy modernizing principles, distinguish the objective risk potential, to individuals and society, presented by different drugs, including alcohol and tobacco, when consumed by humans and then regulate proportionately.
      When sanity returns to the administration of drug law, harm will reduce, the five types of crime directly associated with prohibition will be immediately eliminated, human rights will be respected and millions of drug war prisoners like me will be released from prison.
      On the 60th Anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms, there has never been a better time to bring human rights and drug policy together. We can make this transformation now. These legal principles can be adapted and applied in all Western democracies.
      Ultimately, these legal principles have the power to end the global "War on some people who use some Drugs”.

    • @kaykaycameron100
      @kaykaycameron100 4 года назад

      TheDgreezyFan lol try explaining to scientist there’s spirits or a metaphysical world 💁🏽‍♀️ you can’t , science and spirits don’t mix. They spend hours in the labs with chemicals trying to understand humans and some ass without a degree comes out of no where saying plants can help, and undermining your hours of work, life’s work. Shit I’d ignore the druggy too since on the higher scale When compared to a degree 📜and work to back you up and then you got the hippy who don’t got facts or degrees hypothetically speaking. I’d listen to the scientist over the hippy.

    • @TheDgreezyFan
      @TheDgreezyFan 4 года назад

      Kaykay Cameron that doesn’t make too much sense. I said nothing about listening to hippies. There is no true “spirit”, that is just some people’s opinion, the “spirit” they see is created in the mind due to a chemical reaction from the drug which could be studied more by scientists. And I’m talking about healing which includes depression, addiction and other disorders which are already being treated by other drugs even though these conditions can’t be diagnosed physically. So the government could use science to prove the effectiveness if they base their studies on the same premise they do when testing effectiveness of every other drug on these conditions

    • @kaykaycameron100
      @kaykaycameron100 4 года назад

      TheDgreezyFan what I’m saying is the drugs they are giving for depression and what not causes more depression and suicidal thoughts. I’m sorry I was still watching the video while typing, I’ll try to explain thoroughly for you. My next point was typically people who engage in psychedelics are stereotyped as hippies , so why would you want to listen to a hippy when there’s scientist with backed up work, degrees, and years of studying a chemical composition that presumably helps decrease the symptoms of ocd depression bipolar disorder etc. It sounds way too abstract for some scientist to believe that a plant can do so much more than all the years it took for them to discover and create a drug where they can get money out of it. It’s a cycle like you said, you get the drug end up in the hospital cause of the drug and they prescribe u more drugs and then you’re an addict and it’s barely helping which causes lots of suicide or drug overdose. In the end the govt or scientist wins. Why prescribe ayahuasca which ends that cycle, of drug abuse, mental help, and suicide in many people. Plus how would you regulate selling such a thing. Hopefully this is better explained than the first paragraph 😭🤣

How can we all see the same thing in our minds, especially if “spirit” doesn’t exist. How can so many people have the same experience?

      Kaykay Cameron okay okay that totally makes sense now and I guess that’s the crazy part, the government and federal agencies that regulate healthcare would much rather keep revenue high by having people go through a cycle. And I’ve researched a lot about psychedelics and you’re right, there have been stories of large groups of people all seeing and feeling the same exact thing which does take into question whether it’s spiritual or it allows the brain to enter another dimension that exists all around us and by taking these drugs we see what is truly there all the time but because of where we our in evolution, we’re all still stuck in the boring “reality” that we live in now. Good talk, got my brain goin!

      LSD seems like the ultimate teacher, I've gained way more wisdom through LSD then I did DMT. I enjoyed DMT more and it takes you way deeper and I get more organic visuals. It's really hard to retain information from DMT trips while much easier to retain lessons and integrate from an LSD experience. Also If you have done LSD it's apparent that it was brought into existence for a reason, the visuals are literally orgasmic, pure bliss.

      CHEM TRAIL if you knew anything about the history of LSD, you would know that it was no “accident” that Albert Hoffman discovered it, he had a “peculiar presentiment” which he said had never felt again or before to synthesize LSD again 5 years after he first synthesized it. The LSD spoke to him and said he needed to re connect with this medicine, this was in 1943 at the height of ww2 when humanity was at its worst. So the theory is that LSD is actually tears from an alchemical Angel cried for the suffering of humanity. Truly a medicine for the soul

    Incredible documentary and very important subject. Definitely Vice at its best: controversial subjects such as drugs and alternative medicine, but the real substance lies in the presenting of the stories and the shaman and his collaborator. He's so intense and his passion is compelling and she complements him perfectly. They're all about fearless love. I mean, look at the shaman, he's clearly not bullshitting around and that is so freeing, but at the same time incredible compassionate much like a really good therapist who gets it.

    I think that the main reason that doctors generally dislike plant medicine is that they're generally considered "dirty" drugs, meaning that they generally have many compounds present in them and can have a very wide variety of effects from person to person. But I think this "dirtiness" makes plants extremely powerful as medicines, because they are naturally capable of accomplishing things normal medications currently can't accomplish with the research we have, and instead of making these plants illegal cause we don't fully understand their effects and suspect they have negative effects (except for plants like opium, khat, coca, belladonna, etc which we understand for their danger psychologically and physically) we should promote their usage and their research for their safe usage to understand how to take advantage of their power. Either way, we should be allowed to take our own educated risks as we are allowed to with any other act that has no victim other than potentially ourselves.

    I had more success with my healing and coaching practices in short and long term effects without the use of any drugs. By using any kind of shortcut you are only giving a signal to your subconscious that you seek fast results without being willing to go the extra mile and face the real path of healing. And by using a shortcut it means you will not reach the real depth of the issue which is WHY you caused that illness to appear or to discover what was the real causation of any negative experience you had. Most people will search get rich quick, get healed fast and all those paths. I am not against any plant, but as a healer I saw more people coming to me even after they did all those drugs, as whatever they tried to healed got to the surface again. Real healing comes from UNDERSTANDING how life really works and by deep real forgiving... Most people out there are not ready to accept their fault and ask for forgiveness and believe me, anything that happened to you is your own thought or actions, done in this or previous lives. Not easy to understand cause we are always used to blame others for everything.

    Okay I'm all about the ayahuasca and everything, but I just don't know if this is the right guy to be administering therapy to people. In my opinion, he's just kind of making shit up as he goes, and even backtracks on some very personal topics. Like the part where he's talking to the lady about being in the mental hospital, he's telling her that her mom was keeping her safe by keeping her locked up. Like her mother literally said she was lying about being raped and threw her in there until she falsely confessed. Because she was a scared little girl who wanted to go home. That's what happened. Her mother had no intentions of keeping her safe. She just didn't want to admit her child was being raped, for whatever reason. Maybe this whole type of therapy would be better administered by an actual therapist, not just by a guy who really wants to be a guru.
