My Birth Story

  • This is my birth story, I know... super long video (skip to 18:16 if you want to just hear the story) but this is for my core followers who want to know all the details, I also share a lot of my views and beliefs in this video. I want to say that there was nothing that went wrong with the home birth that made me end up in the hospital, it was just that my body "wasn't cooperating" and therefore I needed medication/surgery to move things along. For my second pregnancy, I would definitely still consider a home birth as it was such a great experience being able to labor at home, moving freely and feeling comfortable. I am thankful to all my birthing team, including the doctors and nurses at the hospital. The beautiful photographs are taken by Kristie: www.kristierobin.com/

There’s so much I could say. I’ve followed your channel for quite some time and find you very classy and inspiring and resonate very much with a ton of your outlook. You name so many of the struggles/transitions I had. Your right it feels like no one talks about it, but I feel like after the fact and looking back about 1-2 years after the birth I do realize that people talk about it, but it’s just impossible to comprehend what they really mean until you live through it. I am so happy for you and your little family and hope that each day gets a little easier.

    I resonated with everything you said about preparing for birth. I also had zero fear going into my 3rd birth. The previous 2 were c sections and I successfully had a VBA2C and it was the most amazing experience of my life! I had the same mindset with my contractions. I actually didn't even realize I was in the first stages of labor when I was because I had been having prodromal labor for 3 days prior. I was ignoring it until I couldn't anymore because I was convincing myself I wasn't in labor yet. The mind is a powerful thing!
    I'm sorry you couldn't have the home birth you envisioned. C sections are rough, the shivering is the worst and so painful. But thank God you and baby are here and safe. ❤ Congratulations Tatiana!!

    Congratulations. Thank you for sharing your story. I had to mentally prepare to watch this when I first saw this.
    My son is now 18 months old. When he was born he was in the birth canal for a few hours after active labor started. The Dr was concerned about him getting stuck before he was born because of my diabetes and being a smaller frame. At the end of labor he had to get him turned and out because his shoulder did get stuck. He ended up being 8 lbs 1 oz. Unfortunately his breathing wasn’t good and we had to admit him to the NICU. He was there for 6 days. It was so hard to leave him there for those nights. I didn’t hardly sleep and was right by him as much as I could. We were at a good hospital and really felt like they took good care of him and us.
    Now he’s a very active little boy and you wouldn’t even know he ever had issues.

    Oh what a precious mother and baby. Your story just was heartbreaking at times, and it's so good to see you both emerge victorious at the end. (& the experimental incubator that was heating your poor little up so much. Oh my goodness.... That hurt my soul.)
    It's ok to feel like birth is traumatic, because it honestly is. Even for those of us that have "easy" homebirths, trauma can just be a part of the process. It's so good to be able to talk to other women about your pain and to share it with others who can feel what you've been through.
    My husband said my homebirths seemed like woman on the battlefield. And I think that sums up what it is like - no matter how we give birth. Our fight for life. And you did it! And you're still doing it every day! You are an amazing magical mother!
    & just in case no one told you lately, I PROMISSSSSE it gets easier.

    This was such a great video! I have even more respect for you after hearing how thorough you were in researching what's best for baby regarding the unnecessary shots and procedures that mainstream medicine pushes on new parents. (Coming from the States it's still so normalized and it makes me so sad!) But I am so glad to hear you and Lucas are doing well now and I love how big you are on mindset and getting mentally prepared for this huge change in your life 👏👏
    Regarding a future video/content, I would love to hear about the relationship dynamics of new parents and how involved Stefan is/is able to be. As someone who is planning on starting a family in the next couple of years, this causes me some anxiety....how do you make things as equal/ "fair" as possible when it comes to taking care of the baby? Do you have to manage your expectations regarding the role Stefan plays and just accept that as the mother you will be the one staying up and losing sleep, etc most of the time? Is there a way to balance this all out so you don't end up resenting the other partner? No one ever talks about this and it's something I really worry about.

    • @BiancaMariah
      @BiancaMariah 11 месяцев назад

      great video idea!! it would be so interesting to see how you've navigated this as a conscious couple

    • @TatianaJames
      @TatianaJames  11 месяцев назад +1

      Thank you!! I agree, that would make for an excellent video as that’s what I struggled most with postpartum. It was hard figuring out the relationship dynamic/roles and still is. I think it depends on your partner, some really embrace being very involved in everything like washing bottle parts, feeding baby, laundry etc. others really struggle with it all. In the early stages like first month, baby primarily wants mom and will cry when with anyone else for too long so accepting that mom will be the one to take care of baby is important but we figured that dads role is to support mom so she can support baby. I might make a video on this, but honestly we never really figured it out where both parties are totally satisfied, I ended up doing a lot and still do and we recently hired a nanny to help with housework and things I can no longer do.

  • @NamasteHomeBoulder

    Listened to the whole thing. You’re a badass! Congratulations!! It sounds like you made the best decisions with the cards dealt. Despite also being a homebirth “planner” I would have done the same as you in your position. It sounds like your body did so much work and dilated to 10 in the end so next time that will still be in your body’s core memory if you choose a Vbac it should go more smoothly. My friend had 2 successful homebirth vbacs after an initial emergency C-section. She says the risk isn’t as great as it’s made out to be for vbac so long as your placenta isn’t positioned near the C-section wound checked via ultrasound because the biggest fear is that the placenta could tear at the wound site (and especially if you wait 18 months for healing you should be good to go) Just thought her perspective on it was interesting and worth sharing.

    Thanks for sharing your experience, I like your reflections on being accepting of what needs to happen regardless of what you were hoping for, I had my first after 4 days of Labor, epidural was not an option for me back then because I couldn't afford it, I was left alone with no one who could be with me during that time, my second labour was 15 hours and with the third it was almost 4hrs, I'm grateful that I could have my husband with me in those births, I didn't have pain relief with them either although I could've had, just a bit of gas that made me dizzy and with the second when I was done with pain it was too late to have it lol. I do understand what you say about letting gravity do its work, I did that with my last and she came out with less pain and ease compared with the first 2. These experiences make us realise how strong we could be, exhaustion is a deal breaker, you did good for as long as you felt strong doing it. Thankfully everything turned out great and baby Lucas is healthy and enjoying both of you, he'll be stuck to you for a long while, I used to wear me babies, if I wanted to go out baby would have to come, not me stay for him to sleep, it has been my way to tell who the boss is 😅 All the best, your mind is in the right path to go through motherhood

    So many people have ill advised opinions about hospitals and nursing care regarding this topic. Great to hear they came through in your time of need. Hopefully it enlightened you to what value these educated, experienced professionals provide. More times than not things don’t go as easy as uninformed prepare for. Mothers regularly died giving birth before access to hospitals was the norm. It’s a shame this generation speaks so negatively about those services. It’s not a sign of weakness. It’s being responsible in the midst of arrogance. Glad your experience resulted in a good outcome.

    Congratulations on the birth of your baby! I just had homebirth two weeks ago! I'm glad you didn't feel like a failure for choosing to go to the hospital. Each woman has to do whatever is best for them. I had my first birth in the hospital. The recent baby I had is my 8th (6th child living) The more babies you have, labor and delivery gets faster and easier.

    WOWWWW so I already had 0 plans to have kids, but I still couldn’t turn your video off! Your experience sounded AWFUL and so very traumatizing. You had me fighting back the tears girl! 😢 I am so very sorry your experience went completely opposite as you had planned it to go, and I’m so happy that you and the baby are ok! 🙏🏻 You still look as beautiful as ever, and baby Lucus is beyond adorable! As far as future videos, I would like to hear about your calm birthing process more, for anytime I’m experiencing horrible cramps/pain, the candles, salt lamps, and other soothing things you used etc! Also I‘m a fitness trainer so I would like to learn more about training pregnant women, so would love a video about your workouts as well❣️

    Thank you so much for sharing such a personal experience with us Tatiana. ❤I am now 40 weeks pregnant with my baby and feeling so emotional. I felt your pain and could not hold tears when you were talking about actual birth of Lucas and your scare when he was not crying. You are fantastic mum! Thank you again.
    Would be nice to hear how are you finding breastfeeding as a lot of women having problems with it.

      Aw thank you dear ❤ breastfeeding was extremely painful for two weeks, I was in tears most feedings and thought “it’s not possible for it to hurt this much” after two weeks I either got used to it or baby’s latch improved because ir stoped hurting as much. Now it just hurts from time to time but mostly it doesn’t hurt st all. All I have to say is just push through ir for those two weeks and get the silverettes for nipples and the mama earth nipple balm

    Oh girl. Your story is so similar to mine. So heartbreaking to not have the birth of your baby according to plan. They always say what matters is a healthy baby in the end and it is so true but there are a lot of trauma for the mother after going against everything you wanted or did not want. It took me a long time to really come to peace with my c section. Beautiful birth story super mama you are a warrior ❤

    Hi Tatiana! I’ve been following you for a long time and I’ve always been very inspired by your content but so much more now with your approach to motherhood and how you spoke of your labor. Im sorry that labor didn’t go according to your initial wishes, I can tell some parts were difficult to talk about. I’m glad you and Lucas are well now. letting go of expectations while simultaneously trying the absolute best is also a lesson I’ve learned in my past two years as a mom but it’s not without some pains that’s forsure ❤
    thank you for talking about postpartum as well. I honestly feel so seen bc I went thru the exact same feelings and no one ever talked about it or prepared me for it. I thought I was such a selfish person for not being able to handle the lack of autonomy. It took me about 5 months to assimilate my role as mom and thankfully I was able to get lots of help. Best of luck to you, Stefan, and Lucas!

    Congratulations Tatiana to you and Stephan, and Lucas is a beautiful boy! Also, although your entire birth process didn't go as you wanted, I think you having those hours of serenity and calm at home, was excellent preparation for the challenges later on in the process. Lucas couldn't have better and more loving parents.
