They chose her because they believe in her talent. At the end of the day that is all that matters and I just wish that people would stop being so negative about everything. Why does the artist need to change herself to the song? Isn't the reason they're making the cover to give the song a new interpretation? Having the artist "not fit the song" is just paradoxical. If an abstract painter decides to paint the Mona lisa, either the painter changes to fit the painting, or he makes the painting his own. He paints the subject in his abstract art style. The painting will always fit the artist, because he created the painting; the painting did not create him.
Her voice may be jarring at first, but listen to it without judging, and hear how she adds a deeper emotion to the song. It's most prominent when their voice mash, and it adds just that edge of quarter after one drunk passion to the song. She carries the fire that gives this cover its spirit. Covers aren't supposed to be direct copies of a song. Any recording device can do that. The beauty of a cover is the new form of life that a different artist can breathe into the song
To everyone complaining about Savannah Outen's vocals, the problem isn't her vocal's. The problem is the studio engineer who mixed the song. Both lead singers are competing for the same frequency, the technician should have carved about a specific frequency in the sound envelope for each vocalist to shine. On top of that, he should have done a better job ducking the background vocals behind the lead. He also should have cut the top frequencies on the vocalist backing the lead as they switched back and forth. This girl can sing well, as evidenced in other videos. This song was simply mixed with both vocalists being WAY too bright and up front sounding. Bottom line, most people commenting don't know why it sounds bad, only that something is off about the mix (which is understandable if you aren't a recording engineer). So they automatically point at the vocalist, because the singer is the front line. The public opinion of what a vocalist sounds like is actually a hyper reality of the way we engineer music to flatter the human voice.

Just because singers can blend their voices into the basic sounding of one, doesn't mean it's the greatest way to go. Imperfection is perfection. Not always, but this one is. Different styles compliment each other. If this song was done to have the same tone all the way through, it would just be bland and what everyone else does. It's nice to have a different blending.

I agree with Quan Le .. She comes on way too strong.. I had to stop this one half way through and usually I find myself repeating songs because they are done so well.. If she would have been a little more reserved and softened it would have been great

I honestly liked it. The difference between the voice makes for a certain fusion that isn't obtainable through getting two similar singer. It adds more emotion to it, i enjoy it.

I honestly liked it. The difference between the voice makes for a certain fusion that isn't obtainable through getting two similar singer. It adds more emotion to it, i enjoy it.
